Chapter 37 | Her Shadow

Bellamy's POV:

"I have my gun and you have yours. Now we just need to give the girls something so they can protect themselves if they have to." I told Keith.

He ran a hand over his face and exhaled deeply. "We can't. Natasha can't be trusted with knives. What if she's triggered?" his voice was a low rumble.

We didn't have a plan and we didn't know anything either. My mind went back to this morning when I woke up beside Jane. I was gently stroking her back when she started to mumble again in her sleep. She turned and rested her side on me and that's when I noticed a crumbled up paper in her pocket. I didn't see it there before and I was practically boiling with jealousy as I took it from her pocket. I was expecting it to have some fuckers phone number but all it said was I'll see you soon and it made sense because Jane changed into them in the car, after the party. I thought of all the ways it could've gotten there but it didn't make sense. Until I thought about the strange guy at the shop we were at. I focused on the memory of him and then it snapped. I never forgot a face and definitely not of the people who tortured my friends and girlfriend. Everything made sense, not complete but enough for me to draw a picture. I wanted to wake Jane but she started mumbling things in her sleep again and I noticed a little sweat on her forehead. I wiped it off and she uncomfortably shifted in her bed. Then I heard the clicking of heels from the hallway...

I snapped out of my daze when I heard Natasha's footsteps again. She was slowly pacing across the length of the house. Her fingers drumming against her thigh.

Keith clearly told Natasha and Jane about everything that was happening and could happen. I wasn't worried about Natasha that much. Keith still treats her like a child but I know she's much more stronger now.

"Nat, come here. Sit down. You've been walking for hours now." Keith said. She stopped abruptly and stared at her brother. "I'm trying to figure out why Leon is here." She said sternly before walking again.

I stood up and headed towards Jane. It's been four hours since we escaped Leon and three hours since Jane leaned against the window where we sat a few days ago. She was merely a shadow of herself and it felt like someone was driving a knife through my chest.

Her knees were slightly bent as she stood against the window. Her right arm was squished between her body and the window. Her head tilted towards it. Her left hand played with her necklace, a habit she had since I clasped it around her neck one amazing night.

"Jane?" I tried to get her attention but just like my attempt five minutes ago, she ignored me. "Baby, sit down. You've been in this position for hours." I said but she didn't move.

I sighed and wrapped my arms around her from the back. I pulled her towards me so she could loosen her body. Her warmth always made me feel better. I buried my face in the crook of her neck but not before I saw beautiful face. Her once bright blue eyes were as dull as they could ever be and I cursed at myself for not being of any help.

I kissed her neck. The same spot I left a hickey. I could feel her shiver against my body and her skin tingle wherever I touched. It felt good to know that I wasn't the only one feeing all these things. She slowly leaned her head against mine and I felt a little better.

She never stayed quiet for this long. She stopped talking in the car and stopped responding when we came here. She's not even crying, I hate seeing her cry but at least she shows some kind of emotion rather than being emotionless.

"Blake," I said softly. I heard her lightly hum. "Tell me what you're feeling." I said.

"Bellamy, I think it's my fault Natasha was raped." She said in the slowest and softest tone. I was about to stop her but she beat me to it as she continued. "If I didn't get involved with Keith, this wouldn't have happened to her."

"It isn't your fault, not Keith's nor Natasha's." I told her. How could she even think it was? I was angry but not at her. I was at the douchebag Trace. That manipulative, abusive fucker broke her and she was getting worse as time went on. "Just like you, Natasha was another one of their victims but everything changes now. It's time they pay for what they've done."

I wasn't giving empty threats. I was will to go to my father if it was necessary. I was willing to do anything to make them feel the way all of their victims felt.

"Lets just get rid of them first." She mumbled. I sighed and loosened my grip on her. I was a little surprised when she turned around and hugged me but I quickly hugged her back.

"I love you." She mumbled to my chest. I kissed the top of her head and told her I loved her too.

"Can I pick a room upstairs?" she asked. "I like the view here and I know you'll close the curtains soon. I promise I won't turn any light on of the blinds aren't down." She rambled and I nodded at her. I was partially relieved because she was talking now but I knew she was hiding her emotions.

She walked up the stairs and I took our bags with me. She wasn't going to sleep alone. I followed her upstairs and I found her standing in the doorway of one of the rooms. I smile stretched across my face and I stood beside her.

"It's yours isn't it?" she said, taking a few steps inside. It indeed was and I told her that.

"Were you always a stuck up jock?" she asked with a smile playing on her face. "Babe, I'm not stuck up." She rolled her eyes and scoffed at me. I wanted to kiss her right then but I wanted her to talk to me.

"You know, I was a stuck up cheerleader in freshmen year." She said with a smirk. "I knew it. You're so predictable." I told her as I kissed her cheek. I couldn't help myself. The more time we spent together, the more I wanted her.

Her smile disappeared and her nervous expression took over. Lately, she had this look a lot and immediately prepared myself for her.

She sat on my bed and took my hands in hers. I crouched down on the ground in front of her so she couldn't avoid my gaze by throwing her head down.

"So you wouldn't be surprised if I asked for my medicine?" she didn't say anything wrong but when she gave them to me, I hoped that she'd forget about them. I had to restrain from furrowed my eyebrows at her.

"Are you sure? Is there something I can do?" I tried to use the right words since this was a fragile topic.

She shook her head and lied back on the bed. "I just need one pill right now and then I was hoping I could take a nap. Hopefully I'll feel better after that." She said. I stood up and caressed her cheek and gave her a forceful smile before taking her prescription bottle out of my duffle bag.

Her eyes were glossy from behind her glasses and I knew she would cry if I left so I made sure hurry up as I got her water.

Her eyes were dry when I came back but I saw a trace of a tear on the back of her kissed. I kissed it as she took the pill and chucked it down with water.

Then I pressed my lips against hers and laid her back on my bed. She was reluctantly kissing me back but I didn't mind. I wanted to show her I loved her. I started to kiss her neck, the way it drove her crazy but she pulled my head back and looked into my eyes. I was going to swoop in and kiss her but she didn't allow it.

"No more hickies. You should be glad my hair covered it and mom didn't notice in the morning," she warned. I rolled my eyes and grinned.

"Yes ma'am," I said before taking off her glasses and planting butterfly kisses all over her face. She giggled and I couldn't feel more proud of myself for making her laugh.

"Stop with the sloppy grandma kisses!" she laughed and I pulled back and frowned.

"What?" I asked. She did not just say that.

"You heard what I said. I never had  grandparents but thanks, now I know what people mean." She said while rubbing her face with her hands. She tried to hide her mischievous smile but failed.

"You're so mean." I stood up and folded my hands and pouted as I stomped my foot on the ground. Yes, I just did the perfect impression of Jane.

"What are you doing?" she asked blankly. She gave me a once over and burst out laughing. "Bellamy, you've really lost it." She said in between laughs.

I watched the crazy girl in front of me, the one I was in love with. I sighed and fell onto the bed beside her.

"I love you." I told her before kissing her as she laughed. "I love you too, grandma." She laughed again.

I wanted to put up a playful fight but after everything she's been going through, I didn't want to stop her from laughing. So I rested my head on my hand and watched her laugh carelessly. It was the most satisfying thing ever.

After Jane fell asleep in my arms I headed downstairs. I could smell food and I followed the trail to the kitchen where Natasha was attempting to cook something. She was playing some video on her phone and laughed while shoving things into Keith's face.

Keith was right, Jane and Natasha were probably the only girls in the world who could find the smallest of things funny. They both were strong and independent.

"Hey, is Blake alright?" Natasha nudged my shoulder and I didn't even realize when she came with close. I nodded my head and leaned against the counter, adjacent to Keith.

"I gave her the pocket knife." He said when Natasha was busy mixing things into a pot. "I guess you were right. She can handle herself." He said.

"I'll give it to Jane soon." I said. He nodded and patted my arm.

"She'll be fine. Princess will be fine." He said.

"That's if we know what Leo's agenda is." I said as I ran a hand through my hair.

"Why don't we have ketchup?" Natasha asked as she slammed the cabinet doors. I winced and moved away. It's times like these I'm glad Jane's a heavy sleeper.

"Look, I grabbed whatever I found okay. You weren't the one driving around town like an idiot in the morning." I said.

"ugh, sorry." She muttered before turning.img her back towards me. Keith stifled a laugh and we both left the kitchen.

The next day everything seemed to be normal. Since we told everyone we were at Pippa's, they didn't bother reaching us. Pippa was a scary old lady. Even on a powered wheelchair she could get anywhere there's trouble. That woman haunted us as children and could sense mischief before it even occurred us a thought to anyone. Not to mention she wasn't afraid of giving anyone a beating. She wasn't brutal, she was actually but not the dangerous kind. Despite describing Pippa thoroughly to Jane she still told us she wanted to meet her.

We were watching some old movies and the sun had set. Jane was profusely yawning and I assumed it was the pills that made her so sleepy.

"Why don't we go to bed?" I asked her as I stroked her cheek. She shook her head at me.

"I'll go to sleep, you can come when the movie is finished." She said as she stood up. "It's alright." Natasha hushed us and Jane put her index finger on my lips.

"After the movie." She said sternly and I rolled my eyes before I kissed her. I watch her retrieving figure till she was gone. I sighed and brought my attention back to the movie.

Keith's phone started to ring about half an hour later. He cured when he picked his phone from the table.

"Leon Wright," he said before showing it to me and Natasha. "Answer it!" Natasha prompted and he  answered the call and put it on speaker phone.

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Your pick." He said.

"What do you want?" Keith growled into the speaker. Natasha moved closer to us and I saw her put an arm around her brothers.

"The girl. I know you're hiding Blake in the lake house. Just leave her outside and you won't hear from me again." Leon said.

I felt like punching him for even daring to say her name.

"Fuck off. She's not here." Keith said before ending the call.

"What the hell do we do?" Natasha asked. The girl was more than terrified but Keith didn't do anything to comfort her. "We protect her." He said.

I sighed and walked towards the hallway to go upstairs but I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard feet dropping to the ground. I took a few steps back and signaled at Keith as I stood behind the wall for cover.

I swiftly took my gun from the waistband of my jeans and aimed towards a shadow that was removing towards the stairs. I quickly kicked the wall to grab his attention. I moved back inside the lounge when he turned towards me. Natasha hid behind a table while Keith was against the couch with his gun in his hands.

I thought he would come from the entrance I kicked but the sly bastard came from behind me. I shoved him back but he hit my forehead with the back of his gun causing me to stumble back. He took my gun in the process. Keith his gun but didn't make a move at shooting him.

So there stood Leon Wright with two guns in his hands.

"I was hoping you picked the hard way," he laughed and it made me sick.

"Drop the gun and give me the girl." He deadpanned. Keith scoffed as him as I took a step closer he quickly noticed my movement and pointed the gun towards me.

"I told you she's not hear!" Keith shouted. This caused Natasha to jump in her spot and she winced as her head hit the table.

"You've got another pretty girl here for me," Leon said as he took a few steps closer to Natasha.

"Get the fuck away from her!" Keith growled. All of a sudden, Leon pulled the triggered of his gun and a bullet went straight past Natasha and hit the wall behind her.

"Drop the fucking gun and stand back or else the next bullet goes through her brain." He warned.

Keith grunted but dropped his gun on the floor. I wish I hadn't been so reluctant during training with my dad. If I learned everything, we wouldn't have been in this position.

"Look, I'm trying to be a nice guy here. Just give me Blake and I'll you three go." Leon said. He walked towards the gun Keith threw and swiftly picked it up while aiming at Natasha heart.

I wanted to lunged towards him but Keith gave me a warning look. He couldn't risk his sisters life or my friends.

"What makes you think we'll do that?" I said. "She's not here!" I added when I drew his attention. I knew he wouldn't stay like this for long. Jane was sound asleep and I had a feeling that she might just slept through the gunfire. He couldn't search the house without putting the three of us down and he didn't look capable of doing that either.

"If you don't then we'll just have to wait for Trace to come and when he does, he'll probably shoot you three for a little fun." He laughed as he walked around, keeping the gun pointed at Natasha.

"You're psychotic! All of you are!" Natasha spat. He let out another laugh.

"Sweetheart, there's no fun in being sane."

He slowly traced the side of her face with the gun. A smirk on his face as she whimpered. "So what's your decision?" he asked with a smile.

"Save your lives and give me Blake now or watch Trace take her and then shoot you three." He said.

I was distracted by a shadow that moved near the entrance behind Leon.

Please just run Blake...

A/N:

Don't read ahead without commenting your thoughts on this chapter. It was entirely Bellamy's POV. I hope it sounded different and let me know if I should do this again. We're going back into Blake's head in the next chapter.

So the ending of this chapter was lost in cyber space and since I directly write on wattpad, I lost it for good. So it's different from what I originally wrote - yes I forgot what I wrote a few hours ago. In my defence, I finished with the next chapter and I got back to this just to publish it.
