Chapter 21 | Kisses

The alarm went off signaling it was 7 A.M. on a Monday morning. I cursed under my breath as I was awoken from my slumber. My plan of sleeping away the tiredness wasn't going to as planned and before I could procrastinate on going to school, mom barged into my mom pulling me out of bed.

"Exams are coming up and the school won't excuse any more absences from you! I made chocolate muffins for breakfast, so get ready sweetie," she said planting a small kiss on my forehead.

After yesterday's lunch with the team I had a talk with mom. She tried and I tried to come to some conclusion but that didn't really happen. Dad raised me in his own way which made me a perfect daughter in his eyes and for mom, Brianna was everything.

I stepped out of the shower and decided to wear something warm today. The chilly weather was getting harsh now and snowfall was expected by the next week. A bit late considering December was just around the corner.

I slipped on a pair of brown Ugg's with high waisted blue jeans and a fuzzy white sweater that loosely hung around my shoulders. I didn't realize how slow I was until I heard Brianna honking the horn in the driveway. I packed a few muffins roughly in a container and nearly forgetting my back pack as I got in the car.

"How much more sleep do you need?" Brianna asked driving down the road. "Don't question my sleep and turn the music down so I can nap one last time." I said getting comfy in the passenger seat.

Obviously, my sister would blast Coldplay loud knowing that I can't resist not singing along and fangirling over the lyrics.

When we reached school, I shoved the muffins in my backpack since I didn't get a chance to eat them. I frantically skipped over to Luke with a grin on my face.

"There's my favorite dancer!" he said pulling me in for a hug. I hugged him back laughing. Luke actively cheered me on during the performance so much so that the managing team had to pull him to the side to calm him down and explain the ethics of watching theatre performances.

"Hey Jane," A familiar voice called out before engulfing me in a side hug.

"Hey guys," I waved at everyone around me as we stood by our cars. "You finally noticed us." Eliza joked causing me to roll my eyes at her.

"Let's do the walk!" I exclaimed before straightening myself and puffing out my hair a bit. I tugged each arm around Bellamy and Luke's and motioned them to walk to the building. This one thing will never get old. I loved the way everyone was intimidated by us. Especially when I had either the quarterback or Basketball Captain with me always. "You're in a good mood today," Bellamy said as he waited for me to get my books from my locker. The hallway was practically empty now considering two bells had rung.

"Coldplay does this to me," I said looking up and holding a hand to my chest, sighing as a visualized Chris Martin singing.

"Anyways, we're going somewhere today." he said as he shut my locker.

"I have to study. I'm behind on every subject," I frowned.

"We're going tonight," He stated much louder. "You can study or whatever after school."

"Na-uh."

Just as I took a step further his arm wrapped around my waist lifting me and pulling him into his chest. His breath prickling on the curve of my neck. "I'm not asking," He said whispered into my ear before releasing me. I turned around to face him. My eyebrows furrowed as I pouted, my arms automatically folding across my chest.

"I hate you," was all I could say as I looked into his big brown eyes. His features softened from the usual bad boy look he had. A smile played on his as I spoke. I felt my cheeks warm up and I instantly took it as my cue to leave. These days I had to try hard to hold back a blush. He was doing things to my body that I never felt before.

...

"What a pig," Mandy commented as she passed by our table during lunch. I had almost forgot she existed.

"You seem to know a lot about them," I muttered rolling my eyes.

"Ever since you showed up I have." she said.

"Well, stop focusing on me bitch and try to do something useful with your life rather than sleeping around with any male object you see." I spat back placing my half-eaten muffin on a napkin.

"Says the girl who drools over my used toys," she said glancing at Bellamy whose jaw was clenched tight.

"At least I got you to admit what a desperate, filthy, conniving bitch you are!" I said and immediately heard gasps from around us. Cellphones held up high aiming at me and Mandy.

"Says the whore of the town." She said flicking her hair back and putting a hand on her waist. I stood up and placed both my hands on my hips.

"At least I get paid for it, unlike you. Everyone gets you for free," I said eyeing her up and down disgustingly.

"You asked for it," she said before her hand rose up and swift across to slap me. Too bad she gave it away and I caught her hand twisting it as she tried to grab my hair with her other hand.

People suddenly tried to pull us apart but I started to kick, one landing on her shin making her scream. Her minions joined, some pulling me forward while some pulled back Mandy. Loud voices erupted from around the hall but I couldn't register what they were saying. I noticed Brianna and Eliza joined me and were fighting off a minion each.

Mandy cursed at me and I tried to kick her again and struggle out of the grip of whoever was holding me. I hurled back curse words as two hands grabbed my legs and forced me down on the bench of the lunch table.

"Stop it," Bellamy's voice boomed through the cafeteria and Mandy and her minions flinch before backing away. Luke wrapped his arms tightly around me, holding me down. Bellamy shoved Ryan back who was on team Mandy.

I took deep breaths but stared daggers at Mandy. She lunged for me again managing to scratch my neck with her claw like nails. "I'll get you!" she threatened as Bellamy pushed her off me making her land on the floor. Ryan helped her up and then punched Bellamy. He didn't move instead his fist launched at Ryan's jaw sliding him across the floor. My eyes widened as I saw that happen.

Chris and Harry pulled him back as more people got involved. "You're bleeding," Eliza worriedly pointed at my neck. My fingers trailed over the slight stinging and a bit of blood smeared on my finger.

"It's just a minor cut," Brianna said holding her phone. Sometime during the fight, Chris pulled her away and she started to record. I wasn't even mad, the girl had a passion for having the perfect snapchat story.

"That bitch better not give me rabies!" I shouted in Mandy's direction. Her puppets stood around her as she started another drama of hers to drag attention. I rolled my eyes when she tried to glare at me.

"You okay?" Chris said settling next to Brianna, who was typing away on her phone. Chris subtly elbowed her making her drop her phone and look at him then me.

"Don't let her get to you," she said. I sighed and leaned onto Luke, closing my eyes. "Eat up!" Bellamy said pressing a muffin to my lips. It looked delicious and smelled great too. I opened my mouth letting him feed me before taking it in my hands.

"You should've done something, you're captain after all." Harry said to Brianna. Luke nodded in agreement.

"Not the time and place." she said, her attention on her phone again. "Just wait for practice."

"What are you even doing?" Eliza said trying to take her phone but she immediately put it in the pocket of her jeans. She gave Chris a questioning look but he shrugged his shoulders.

She's usually supportive but then again it wasn't her fight. "So, did you get everything on camera?" I forced a laugh trying to cool the atmosphere.

"Yes, I did. It should be enough to let you off the hook." She smiled watching Bellamy's hand pick up another muffin and bringing to my mouth. As I chewed I realized we were sharing the same muffin so I quickly picked up the last one on the table grinning at him as I did so.

"Off the hook for what?" I turned back to our conversation.

"Suspension!" everyone said in a duh tone.

"Okay, okay." I shrugged, annoyed by how dumb they thought I am.

"You actually are dumb." Bellamy said nudging me with his shoulder. I rolled my eyes realizing I didn't know if I spoke my thoughts or if he was telepathic.

"I'm not telepathic. You're just predictable," I dropped my muffin and looked at him. A smirk on face as he looked at me from the corner of his eyes before chucking down his muffin. I shook my head and told myself this wasn't creepy.

***

"So, detention or suspension?" Luke asked as he towered over me. I looked for an opening but there wasn't any. He was huge and fast.

"Detention" I mumbled trying to throw the ball in the hoop but Luke caught it just by raising his arms.

"Why did coach pair me with you?" I frowned looking around at other people who were shooting in the hoops and having fun. Coach divided the class into two groups, one played basketball, the other ran hurdles and for this task I was paired with the captain of the basketball team, aka, Luke.

"We make a great pear," he said making a pear like shape in the air.

"I honestly think you came out of Hannah Montana." I said as I dribbled the ball, the only thing he let me do really.

"That's not where people come from Blake, I could, however, tell you." He winked suggestively and I hit the ball on his face. Sadly, it didn't do any damage since he caught it.

"You're disgusting," I said shoving the ball at his chest when he passed it back to me. I pushed it away and I sat on the floor beside the wall.

"What's wrong?" he said slumping down beside me.

"You," I said in an annoyed tone.

"Okay, I'll play fair now." He said pulling me up making me bumped into his chest and stumble slightly.

I walked to detention and saw a few kids sitting around on the tables as chairs talking. The teacher wasn't there and I sighed.

"You're late."

I looked up to see Luke seating at the back of the class with his feet propped up on the table. I walked over him checking the time, seeing that I wasn't late.

"What are you doing here?" I asked standing in front of him. He pulled out a chair from the side bringing in close to his.

"You're my detention buddy," he said with a grin on his face. I moved the chair back to the table beside his and sat there taking out my books to study.

"Seriously?" he said pulling his chair right next to mine and putting his arm around my chair. I nodded at him and flipped through the pages of my textbook. Even though I wasn't exactly in the mood to study I knew I had to because I wouldn't get a chance later.

"Alright, no kissing, no talking, just stay on your seat and don't move." Mr. Jungwirth, our history teacher said walking over to his desk propping his legs on the desk just like Luke did. "And get this signed by your parents." He said pointing at the stack of slips before closing his eyes to sleep.

***

"You're really beautiful," Luke said putting a strand on my hair behind my ear. I nodded not giving much importance to his actions.

"You could at least say thank you," he said leaning forward. I dropped my pencil from my grip and turned to face him.

"Thank you" I said, giving a fake smile clearly showing annoyance on my face since I needed to study.

He genuinely smiled back and his hand trailed up to my face. The others hold becoming firmer on my back.

"What are you doing?" I asked as I registered his actions.

"What I've been wanting to do for a while," he said leaning closer and closer towards me.

Our faces were inches away and he waited for a response. I didn't know what to do. Whether I should pull back or not. If this was Bellamy, my mind and heart would be flipping right now. I know I developed a crush on him but it wasn't good. He didn't feel the same way about me. He still occasionally had flings and it was clear that he treated me more as a friend.

But this isn't him, this is Luke.

He's a player.

Bellamy isn't any different.

I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at the figure that was in front of me. His blue eyes looked deeply into mine. His slightly parted lips looked soft as he gently bit on the bottom one. His dirty blonde hair was probably cut because they didn't fall just above his eyes like they usually did.

Did I want this? Should I kiss him? I couldn't decide. I froze in my position focusing on his blue eyes. He slowly leaned forward placing a smooth kiss on my lips. His grip around my body was firmer now and my eyes fluttered shut at his warmth. I didn't respond but his lips still lingered on mine.

Should I make a move?

A loud sound of a bell rang through the room and we jumped back on our seats. Everyone startled by where it came from.

"Detentions over, get out!" Mr. Jungwirth said picking up an old alarm box as turning it off. Luke was beside me and I waited for me to pack my bag. I didn't know what to do or how to react so I quickly picked up my backpack and scurried to the door, luckily Brianna was walking towards the rooms I ran towards her moving past the kids leaving the room.

"Let's go," I said tugging on her arm. I had to escape Luke.

"I came to tell you that I can't," she said looking over my shoulder. I slightly turned my head and saw Luke approaching us. I quickly turned back and pulled Brianna down the hallway. "What are you doing?" she complained as I brought her towards the parking lot.

"Look, I don't care how but you need to take me home right now." I said while trying to catch my breath.

"What's wrong? Go with Luke, I really can't." She said heading towards the building but I stopped her.

"He just kissed me there's no way I'm going back." I exclaimed.

"What's up Jane?" Great. Now Bellamy's here. I turned to him and he gave me a questioning look seeing my worried expression. I felt a body stand beside me and from the corner of my eyes I could see it was Luke. My eyes shifted from Bellamy to Luke before landing on Brianna who was trying her best to control her laugh.

"Is everything okay?" Luke casually asked and I felt a lump in my throat.

"Not really, can you take her home?" Brianna said trying her best to keep her face straight. I glared at her viscously. My only escape now was Bellamy.

I looked closely at him. A few strands of his hair blew from the wind and the sun made his brown eyes shine brightly, his skin was slightly tanned now but he still looked amazing. His leather jacket fit perfectly around him, you could easily tell he said a gorgeous muscular body underneath that shirt. He put his hands in the front pockets of his jeans and leaned forward with a sheepish smile on his face.

"Something came up. Can we cancel today?" He said. If I wasn't already frowning at my situation then I sure did frown now. I sighed and nodded.

"Can you drive me home?" I asked Luke trying to look at his face.

"Sure, let's go." He said and started walking towards his car. Brianna cheerfully said goodbye but all I could do was glare at her and mouth 'I hate you'.

***

"So you and Bellamy..." he trailed off looking at me. We were near my street now and he finally broke the silence between us. The entire ride I looked out of the window avoiding any possible thing.

"He was going to help me study." I said not knowing why I lied then realized Bellamy sounded vague in front of Brianna and Luke earlier. Maybe he didn't want them to tag along.

"Oh, I can help you." He said/

"You don't have to, I mean you probably have other things to do." I said trying to give him the message that I don't want him to be with me right now or at least until I'm a little less confused.

"We can study together." He said pulling into the driveway and parking the car in front of the garage door.

"Wonderful." I muttered in complete sarcasm as I got out of the car. No one was home and I naturally walked into my room not caring about Luke. Maybe he'd feel uninvited and leave.

"So, what should we do first?" he asked dropping his backpack near the door.

I stopped in my tracks and turned to face him. What should we do? He's not a bad guy, he's been a good friend to me. He literally babysits me at parties and he's always there for me at school. Bellamy would leave me to be with his flings but Luke never did. Wait, did he stop?

"Stop what?" He asked blankly. Shit Blake. Stop thinking out loud.

"Uh...the flings?" I blurted out taking a moment to rethink if I should say that or not. He kissed me so maybe it wasn't a bad idea to.

He stepped towards me hesitantly and scratched the back of his neck. "Yeah," he said looking down at the ground. Wow, what the hell were we even talking about? "I know everyone's told you about me, how I don't commit to anyone but I've felt something with for a while now with you. All I'm asking for is a chance."

A smile crept up his face showing his dimple. Damn was I sucker for poking it. I practically did that every day. I leaned forward and smashed my lips onto his lips. I cupped his cheeks bringing him closer to me and then realization hit me. I just kissed Luke.

I immediately pulled back.
