Chapter 1 | Take A Picture, It'll Last Longer
My life took a turn when my dad finally admitted to me that he was dying. I had been completely oblivious to his situation and not until he passed out in front of me, did I realize that a lot was wrong with his health.
You might have heard a phrase that goes like good girls are actually bad girls or shit like that, well I can definitely be an example for that. So what did daddy's little girl do when he told her he didn't have much more time to live? She went down the deep end.
I walked into my own death and screwed a lot of people because of my poor decisions but no decision is the right one when you're high and drunk.
I saw my mother and my twin sister for the first time ever at my dad's funeral. I was absolutely horrified by what was going on which was why I had my so called boyfriend give me enough weed that would last the entire day. I was high but I still remembered everything, even though I never did usually. I just stood by the grave and watched closely as the ceremony took place. People tried to talk to me but I was senseless. I was leaning against Trace who kept me in control from doing something I would regret.
Even when my mom tried to talk to me, I didn't respond. It was too much to for me. Apparently parents had divorced when we were kids and went their separate ways but I knew dad missed her. The woman I had to call my mother but I promised to myself that I would give her a chance. Whatever the circumstances were, I was ready to look over them and start new and fresh.
I needed a fresh start. I needed to start new. I needed to keep the demons away from me.
From the west coast to the East, the drive was incredibly long but I had enough time to sober up and prepare myself for a change. Every time I needed a smoke or something else to keep the sad emotions at bay I would shove my mouth with candies. I always had a sweet tooth and now that I finally had a chance at a new life, I wasn't going to waste it. I nearly ended up dead once, I wasn't going to do it again.
My Aunt kicked me out but graciously killed my mother to take me in. She didn't hesitate at all which I was thankful for. Hopefully, I won't screw this up.
I entered the town she lived in and drove around searching for her house until I admitted to being lost. I called Brianna who told me to meet her at park that was too big to miss. I laughed and followed her directions.
"Hi," I greeted her as both of us got out of our cars. She smiled brightly just like she did when we FaceTimed a few days ago. I smiled back and we both pulled in for a hug.
"Hey! It's so good to finally see you again! You have no idea how long I've wanted this." She told me.
"Yea, it's not everyday you find out you have a twin sister." I said.
"I know we're not identical but I think we can still try something out and fool people." She chirped.
I nodded my head at her idea jokingly. "I'm sure we can." I said.
"Alright then, let's go home. Just follow me." She said and I agreed.
The drive was super short and I felt like an idiot for not finding the gigantic mansion before.
I stepped out of my car and admired that house that stood before me.
"Remember anything?" Brianna asked hopefully.
I shook my head. I was it looked familiar but it didn't. "Nothing, I guess I just have a really bad memory."
"And here I was hoping you'd be the smart twin." She laughed.
When she opened the door of the house, it took everything in me to not jumped back.
"Surprise!" A bunch of strangers yelled. They had balloons and a welcome home banner was hanging off the ceiling. Light music playing in the background.
"Thank you?" I laughed as I warm feeling overtook my heart. Brianna squealed and hugged me again. "These are my friends! Mom couldn't be here because there was an emergency in the hospital so you have as for the rest of the day." She said.
I felt a little sad that she wasn't here but that feeling went just as soon as it came. "It's okay. Thank you for this, though." I generally said to everyone.
"Let me introduce everyone to you properly" Brianna said excitedly. I grinned and nodded at her.
"You already know Chris" Brianna looked at Chris shyly.
Christian "Chris" Wilmer was Brianna's boyfriend. He was tall, 6'2 probably and was a charming white boy. He had blonde hair and was on the lean side of muscular. He had a very defiant jaw line. His grin was enough to faint girls, a typical and jock and cheerleader couple they were.
"This here is Bellamy, he's the quarterback and a very flirty guy. Don't ever commit to him if you want to live a normal life." She chuckled whilst pointing at him. I looked at the 6'2, tan, muscular figure; a body like Adonis. He had chocolate brown eyes and dark brown ruffled hair with strands falling on his forehead.
He smirked at me and said, "Take a picture, it'll last longer." I realized I stared at him for too long.
I bit my lip holding back a laugh. "Damn, I forgot my phone." I lied.
"Just give me your number and I'll send you a picture then." He suggested. I literally rolled my eyes at him.
"911, give it a ring." I said.
I raised my eyebrow at him when he actually took out his phone and wait, did his actually just dial 911?
"Are you for real?" I exclaimed when he brought his phone to his ear.
"I guess you'll have to touch me to find out." He said then tapped the screen of his phone and shoved it back into his pocket.
"And we thought he was a flirt." Brianna muttered. I found her looked at a blonde boy who was also unbelievably thought but I'd give more points to Bellamy.
I turned my gaze back to Brianna who chuckled then went on describing "Lucas" who was captain of the Basketball team. He had dirty blonde hair which he styled by brushing them backwards and slightly towards the side. He grinned showing off his pearly white teeth and a dimple on his right cheek. Clearly flaunting his looks, I knew he was one of the players.
"You can call me Luke," he said with a smile and reach his hand out to shake mine.
I held back a giggle and took it. "Nice to meet you, Luke."
I heard Bellamy saying "player" under his breath.
Harry was in the basketball team, he had blue eyes just like me and Brianna. He was rather tall too but shorter than Bellamy by two inches. He was lean and had brown hair. If you cut Harry Styles' hair short, you would wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two.
"And last but not the least, this is my best-est friend, Eliza. I face-timed you with her the other day" Brianna pulled herself next to her and they both grinned. Eliza walked to me and gave me a hug. You couldn't quite tell if she was a blonde or brunette. She was the same height as me and Brianna, 5'7 and looked fit for a strong cheerleader.
"So tell us about yourself Blake" Harry asked smilingly.
Awkward.
"My name is Blake and before you say something let me tell you that it's a unisex name. Credit goes to Blake Lively though" I laughed and everyone did too.
After that awkward introduction we lounged on the couch and talked about different things. I had a feeling they would be better friends than the ones I had before.
Most importantly, they weren't hiding back who they really were but I couldn't say the same for myself. I didn't know who i really was. A girl who dreamed to be a ballerina or a girl who would do the worst of things just to distract herself from sad memories.
I pushed myself off the comfy couch when everyone decided to leave. After saying goodbye, Brianna gave me a house tour.
This house had three floors, a basement, first floor and then a second. There was a long hallway as we entered the mansion. A staircase on the left lead upstairs and downstairs. And on the right was the kitchen. Down the hallway was the T.V lounge which had enormous comfy couches It was full of ornaments and pictures of Brianna with her friends and mom.
The otherwise of the living room lead to the deck and the backyard which had a big swimming pool sounded by a beautiful garden. I remember my dad being allergic to flowers so we never at vases filled with flowers at home unlike here.
We went to the basement which was basically Brianna's floor. Full of everything you could think of. Honestly, it was much similar to my dads house. We gushed about how alike our choices of things are. We were practically the same person.
We then went to the second floor since Brianna could tell the house tour was tiring. The staircase opened up to another hallway which was shorter than the one downstairs. Brianna's room was on the left and her moms was beside her. She show me mine which was directly opposite hers.
When we went inside I realized it was the largest room. Brianna said her mom had taken out the wall which separated this room with the one next to it. They knew I had a love for Art and thought they'd make me a little studio inside my room. I was feeling over the top about it. My dad had spoiled me but this moved my heart. I pulled Brianna in for the lightest hug I have probably given to anyone.
"When mom saw you breakdown at dads funeral she just couldn't get that image out of her head. She promised herself to give you the best. I knew you liked dancing so I gave her the idea and she acted on it instantly. This is why she let you take time on coming home, she wanted everything to be perfect" Brianna said while still hugging me. I felt her crying on my shoulder and my tears fell out my eyes instantly.
"Thank you so much. I couldn't have asked for a better family." I didn't know what to say so I said the first thin that came to my mind.
We pulled out of the hug and Brianna told me to rest since mom was busy at the hospital and couldn't make it until next morning. I called it a night as I jumped into bed to get away from the tiredness of driving for two days straight.
