Chapter Six; You Do Look Like A Gangster.

Wes' POV

I walked down the school's hallway as I continued to run my fingers through my ash blonde hair in frustration.

I didn't expect Nicole to be that mad over some kid I just took out my anger on. I was angry...I needed to let it out. But I guess I should have known better than to hit an innocent soul roaming the school hallway. That was the exact same scenario that got me expelled from my last two schools.

My blue eyes scanned my environment, desperately looking for her. I had a feeling that Nicole will rush home as fast as she can to avoid seeing my face. My blue orbs locked with her brown ones, before she quickly looked away and rushed out the school building, waving goodbye to Lilac.

I speed walked to Lilac and stared at Nicole longingly. She was mad...really mad. She didn't even want to see my face.

And that's saying something.

"Hey Lilac." I said to the dark skinned girl as she rolled her eyes a little. I ignored her eye roll and asked, "Where did Nicole run off to?"

"Anywhere that you aren't, obviously." Lilac muttered under her breath as I arched an eyebrow at her. She avoided any form of eye contact with me as she spoke, "She went home early. She claimed that she wants to start working on the project."

I nodded my head, playing along with her little game. I didn't believe a word she said because if Nicole wanted to work on the project she would have taken Max, the nerd toy, along with her. Besides, he clearly hates to leave her side.

I clenched my jaw tightly as my mind replayed the scene I saw earlier today.

Honestly, I didn't mean to beat up Sam. I just let my anger get the best of me. When I saw Max with Nicole after their Chemistry class together, it made me feel jealous.

He was standing so close to her.

Immediately after laying eyes on them, I walked away flaring with anger. Then out of nowhere, this kid comes up and bumps into my shoulder. I literally had no control of what I did next.

The punches and kicks came flying down on him till Nicole pulled me back. Now that I think about it, I was a bit cold towards her.

Too cold.

"Have you guys seen Nicole?" I heard a female voice say. I turned around to face the strawberry blonde, who was in her cheerleading uniform.

"She left early." Lilac quickly replied as Mia wiggled her eyebrows in confusion.

"Why?" She queried.

Lilac eyes landed on me before turning back to Mia, "You should know, you were there."

I held my backpack firmly as I let out a frustrated groan. "I know she's mad at me, alright. I wanna make things right but I need you guys to help me." I said with pleading eyes.

Mia crossed her arms, "With what exactly?"

I sighed, placing my two hands in my pockets casually, "I need her house address or at least, her phone number."

Lilac scoffed as her lips curved to a frown. "We are not giving you her number or address, you creep."

"But I just want to speak to her." I countered childishly. Why do they have to be so difficult?

"Sorry, but you'll have to find another way because you're not getting it through us." Mia shrugged as she grabbed Lilac's hand and walked away, leaving me dumbfounded.

"I don't need their help." I mumbled to myself as I spun on my heels and trotted towards the exit, "I'll do it on my own."

After fifteen minutes, I parked my car in the garage and unlocked the door with my house keys.

"Mom! Dad!" I yelled as I slammed the door shut behind me, "I'm back!"

"We are at the back!" I heard my mom yell back as I ran to the backyard. I smiled at my parents, who were planting flowers together.

Anybody who sees my parents can obviously tell I'm their son. My mom had blue eyes and light brown hair while my dad has ash-blonde hair and dark green eyes. They are what you call polar opposites. My mom is pretty loud, while my dad is quiet but not that kind of annoyingly quiet. He's just quiet. My dad eats to live but my mom lives to eat. I wonder how she maintains her body shape sometimes.

But even though they seem like opposites, they are very much in love with each other. They are not afraid to show it too.

"There he is." My dad said in a welcoming voice as he walked towards me with his arms stretched out. He pulled me into a, what he would call, "manly" hug as he patted my back. "My son. A chip of the old block." He turned to my mom, "Don't you think so, Kristy?"

My mom got up from the ground and dusted her dirty palms by clapping, before trotting towards us. "I have to disagree there. He's more like me. He even has my eyes."

My dad scoffed as I rolled my eyes ready for their usual bickering over petty issues, "Your eyes? Last time I checked, he has my hair color."

"Well, they say the eyes is the window to one's soul. So therefore, the eyes are more important." My mom replied as she crossed her arms with a victorious smile on her face.

My dad was about to reply but he hesitated, "Well...I'm the one who gave you the baby. Without me, you won't be pregnant."

My mom smiled slyly, "Well, without me, you wouldn't be able to have this angel."

"Alright," I finally piped up, "can you both agree that you are both important in this relationship?" My parents stared at each other before smiling widely.

"Yeah, I guess she is important to me." The ash-blonde haired man grumbled.

"And I guess he's important too."

"Thank you." I sighed before turning around to head back inside, "If you'll excuse me I have something to take care of."

I shut the door behind me, ran up the staircase and entered my bedroom. I sat on my bed and stared at the ceiling for a while.

I felt really bad for treating Nicole the way I did. Especially when she treated me in the exact same way.

I frustrated groan left my lips as I got up from my bed lazily and trotted towards my desk. I brought out my phone from my pocket and scrolled through my contact list till I saw the name Slicer.

I tapped on the number and placed my phone on my ear as it rang.

"Hello?" I heard the person on the other line say as a smile made its way to my lips.

"Mark, old friend." I said happily as I heard the boy scoff.

"Wes? Is that you?" He queried.

"The one and only." I smirked.

Mark and I go way back. We've been friends since the second grade. We basically grew up together. I saved him from a couple of bullies and he's helped me get out of trouble a lot of times, being the rebellious teen that I was. Everyone has that one friend who is a computer guru and that friend in my life happens to be Mark.

"You haven't called me since you got into your new school. I believe you need my help?" I chuckled at his statement.

"You know me too well." I let out a sigh before continuing, "I need your help to track someone."

"Track someone?" He said in an uncertain voice, "Who is she?"

I let out an amused laugh, "What do you mean she?"

"Wes, I've known you for like half of your life. I know when you are talking about a girl. Besides those are the only people you ask me to help you track." He said in matter-of-fact tone.

"That's not true." I replied defensively.

"Really? Remember Carine? Or Natasha? I know you certainly haven't forgotten about Dorris, have you?"

I rolled my eyes at his behavior as I replied, "You wanna help me or not, Slicer?"

"How many times have I told you to stop calling me that?" He scolded as a chuckle escaped my lips, "It makes me sound like a gangster."

"Well, you do look like a gangster." I mumbled but I knew that I was loud enough for him to hear.

"Just because I dyed my hair, it doesn't make me a gangster." He shot back.

"Alright, alright. But are you going to help me or not? Remember you owe me one."

He groaned on the other side of the phone before replying, "Fine....what's her name?"

I grinned widely, "Her name is Nicole Warren."

"Nicole, huh?" I heard him say, "Alright, just give me a few minutes, I'll send you the details."

I sighed in relief, "Thanks dude. Did I ever mention how much I love..."

He quickly interrupted, "Yah, yah, yah, you love me and how I'm the best computer guru in the world. I've heard it before."

"Thanks again dude." I said before ending the call and flopping on my bed with a satisfied grin.

After a few minutes, I felt my phone vibrate. A smirk was plastered on my face as I stared at the text;

Nicole Warren, No 18 Roseberry Avenue. Her house has a peach fence. Please don't do anything stupid.

I chuckled at his text and quickly sent him a thanks. I checked the time on my phone and saw that it was 7:45pm. It was going to take me about 20 minutes to drive to her house.

I was determined to talk to her no matter what.

"Wes!" I heard my mom yell from downstairs, "Dinner's ready!"

I pocketed my phone and ran downstairs to see my parents already seated at the dinning table. I quickly sat down on my seat and plated my dinner.

I stuffed my mouth with potatoes as I heard my dad say, "Whoa, slow down kiddo. Why are you rushing?"

I slowly swallowed my food as my mind quickly thought of a lie to say. "Um...I'm heading out."

My mom arched her eyebrow, "Out? To where?"

Shoot.

"I...want to visit a friend. He isn't feeling too well."

"Oh," I heard my mom say, "well, alright. I mean, if he's sick, you can go."

I smiled, happy that they believed me. I continued stuffing my mouth with food. I got up from my seat, ran to the door to grab my jacket from the coat rack. I grabbed my car keys and held the door handle, "Thanks for the dinner, fam!" I said happily before rushing out the door.

I entered my car and turned it on. I backed out of the garage and headed off to Roseberry Avenue.

My mind was going crazy as I wondered what I was going to say to her. She'll definitely be surprised that I'm at her house at this time of the night.

I suddenly slammed on the brakes as my blue eyes landed on the peach fence. I stared at the house for a while, my mind turning into an elaborate machine, analyzing the building.

The lights downstairs were switched off and all the lights upstairs were also switched off. I stared at the exterior of the building, looking for any sign of security cameras. It seemed as though everyone in the building was asleep, but I doubted it.

I parked my car a bit farther away from her house and put on my black hoodie. I took in a deep breath and mumbled, "You can do this. She's just a girl."

With that said, I stealthily jumped over the peach fence and hid in a bush in the back garden as I stared at the white duplex.

I was right, all the lights upstairs were switched off except one. There was an open window. And looking out that window was Nicole.

She was staring at the stars in longing manner. Her afro curly was tied up in a bun as the moon shined brightly on her. She looked like a princess from a fairytale.

Not just any princess.

But my princess.

A smile made it's way to my lips as I stared at her. Her white rimmed glasses was still on her face but she still looked divine. I silently hoped that she'll leave her window open.

She took in a deep breath before heading back inside her room. The lights suddenly went off.

I took that as my cue.

There was a ladder laying on the floor, so I carefully lifted it up and leaned it against the wall. I climbed the ladder swiftly as I carefully entered through the window.

I looked around the room. It was painted light pink. There was a reading table at the corner, which was messy because it had different books scattered all over it. She had a little bookshelf hanging above it. And her bed...

Wait a second. She is supposed to be in her bed. Why isn't she in her bed?

That was the last thing I remember before I felt something hard hit the back of my head.
