Chapter 21: Goodbye

Hi everyone! Just wanted to hop on here real quick to give a big thank you, I've reached 1k followers :) It means so much to me to have such a loving community who enjoy my works and give feedback. I've made a lot of friends here who I really care about. So as part of my thank you today and tomorrow I will be uploading a new chapter to this book. (Keep in mind that I don't have any chapters written after that so I will be going on a short little break to write some more up when I can but while I'm gone you'll be getting reuploads of my old books) Anyway again thank you guys so much! ~Erwin~

Our routine took place the next day at 7. We were currently at a different diner than the last stuffing our faces full of waffles. Watching as (Y/N) dabbed the napkin at the corner of her lips, I smile softly before shoving more food into my mouth. "You know... why don't we blow off work today? Do something together?" she asks.

"Like what?"

She then began to pick at the scraps on her plate. "Hmm, maybe go see a movie? Do some shopping? Have you gotten your suit or?" she wonders.

I shook my head, I had an old one from my father but I refused to wear it, only for special occasions like my wedding or something. "Uh no, I haven't," I answer.

"Then, it's settled, we will go see a movie then go get you a suit for the fundraiser," with that she waved down our waiter requesting the check. After splitting, we made our way to my place where she left a bag to change her clothes.

I headed into my bedroom to change allowing her to have privacy in my living room. I was planning to hop in the shower for a quick shower when I heard a knock at my door. I stepped over and opened the door barely just to find (Y/N) standing in her workout clothes still. "I was wondering..." she trails off and her eyes begin to travel. I didn't know how much she could see, but her face seemed to turn a bright red. "...If I could take a shower," she finally finishes as her eyes dart back to meet mine.

"I was actually about to head in...but uh, if you wanna go first you can," That's when I opened the door more allowing her inside. But before she entered she picked up her bag, then walking in she headed to my bathroom. With the door shut, I heard the water begin to run just moments after she went in.

It was about half an hour or so later when she got out of the bathroom fully dressed with damp hair. She left my room allowing me to undress and head in for my shower. The whole bathroom was steamy and smelled of her soap.

Sitting out in the living room, I listened to the water running in the other room, all while thinking back to seeing Erwin's ripped body again. Looking around his apartment I was glad to see he was keeping it in decent shape. There was a little bit that needed cleaning so I got up and did that while I waited.

When he finally came out of his room fully dressed, I look to him finding his bangs sticking to his forehead a bit. I chuckle at the sight before heading over to grab my bag. Before we would go to any movies he walked to my apartment with me to drop my bag off. He came upstairs with me and even entered my place.

"Nice," he mumbles.

Then out of nowhere my cat Mango comes up to him, rubbing her head against his leg. "Oh Mango-"

I stop when the blonde picks her up, I was a bit surprised. Mango usually was a bit shy around new people. But here she was purring happily in Erwin's arms. "She seems to like me," he mentions.

I smile at them both finding this moment kind of precious. Who knew he would also look handsome holding a kitty.

After we had dropped the stuff off, we headed to the closest theatre to watch the latest movie (F/M)*. *(F/M)=(Favorite/Movie). While sitting there with our shared popcorn and drinks, I go to grab a handful when my hand touched his. I glance over meeting his gaze. It seemed... almost like a cliche bit from a movie, but I couldn't help but smile at him softly.

Thankfully nobody was behind us, because I started to lean in, wanting to kiss him so badly.

It's been about a month now since I first met him, and with each day I had fallen harder for him. I began to fall in love with his shy smile, or his flustered face he'd make at a comment of mine. Or the dinner we had gone to, how his hands touched me. He touched me with care. He protected me from Zeke every chance he got, and always made me feel...safe.

I watched as he also started to lean in, but before our lips could meet a loud crashing sound came from the screen before us, causing me to jolt back startled. My eyes now on the screen seeing what was happening. When I finally looked back at the blonde, he had turned away looking rather shy.

Smiling to myself, I turn back to the screen and continue watching the movie. This time I grab some popcorn without bumping into Erwin. After the movie, we began walking around town, even grabbed lunch at a random restaurant we walked by. They had their menu on one of their windows and as we looked, we both agreed to eat here.

Seated outside in the back, lights hung above our heads, illuminating the place. Thankfully we didn't have the harsh sun beating down on us, instead, it was cool and cloudy.

After a very delicious lunch, I took him to the nearest men's clothing shop, there he tried on a couple of suits, even made sure they fit to size. And when he decided on one, I paid for it for him. As we left the shop, I handed him the bag of clothing. "You really didn't have to do that," he says.

"I know but I wanted to,"

We walked around a bit more until we got hungry again when we decided on a place the sun was already beginning to set. It was a bit of a fancier place, and this time I decided I'd pay for our meals to thank (Y/N) for her purchase of my suit.

I watched as she ate, she was so oblivious as she carefully stuffed food into her mouth. She was too busy looking at her surroundings while I admired her. Then I thought back to the movie and how my heart was pounding so bad, I really thought that would be it, our first kiss, but that stupid scene.

At this point I wasn't even trying to stop things from growing, if she felt the same then there was no point in keeping my feelings a secret. Screw Kenny and his warning, I could protect her and be with her, if anything it would only make me protect her better. And if Zeke knew we were together... well he'd be mad as hell but then maybe he wouldn't go after her anymore?

When she finally looked over, she covered her lips with a napkin but I could tell she was smiling behind it. I smiled back at her, happy to know she was enjoying the food. Once finished, I paid the check and tip, then we were on our way home.

The cool breeze of the night blew straight at us, I glanced over watching her shiver. I guess it was a little cold. Quickly pulling my coat off, I set it on her shoulders and watched as she looked up at me curiously before taking the coat and wrapping it around herself a little tighter.

Most of the walk home was rather silent as usual when we did this, but as time went on and we were at the front doors of her place, a black car drove up and started to slow down along the curb. As we stepped closer to this suspicious car, Zeke stuck his head out after the window rolled down. "Hello (Y/N)," that's when she walked up to him and greeted him.

I stood there behind her waiting, they seemed to just be talking about work until the creepy blonde looked back at me and waved his hand at me in a shooing motion. Then looking around I did see another more familiar car. It was Levi's, I only knew that when I saw him leave yesterday.

So, I was prepared to leave knowing Levi was in his car watching over her. Digging my hands into my pockets I started my journey home. Although the uneasy feeling of leaving her there stayed, I reminded myself that she wasn't alone.

When I got to the end of the block, I then heard her calling for me. Stopping in my tracks I turn to find her running back to me. She still had my coat around her. "Yes?" I ask.

"You just left," she mentions.

A little confused, I nod to that, "Yeah?"

"You didn't even say goodbye,"

Puzzled, I lean forward a little and say "Good-" And just like that she jumped up just enough and pressed her lips against mine. It was quick, and right after her lips left, I instantly wanted them back on me. But I held back in case someone was watching. "Bye," I finish.

I didn't expect her to do that, much less do it again. But she did, she repeated the same actions of jumping up and pecking my lips. At this point, my heart along with my head was pounding, from excitement and utter shock. Before I could say anything she ran back to her building, there I watched her run inside.

I stood on the corner, processing what the hell just happened. My fingertips ghost over my lips where hers once were for mere seconds. I only wished I had the chance to kiss her back. But still, I was glad she shared my feelings. I'll get her back next time...
