Neil

It's been close to a month. I follow her on instagram, and she's pretty active. She has 96 posts in all, and I've seen all of them. I didn't press the like button on all of them(that would be creepy), but I went through them all though, her first one from 2018, with the heart snapchat filter. She even posted a few baby pictures of herself as well, and they're so adorable!

She talked to me on the third day of school during study hall, when she asked me when the period ended. I couldn't reply, because I was shocked when she talked to me, but Shiv replied for me.

That's the only time she spoke to me in the past month of school. I know, sad. But I'm very scared to approach her, and she doesn't really need to talk to me, and I doubt she's gonna want to.

I quickly pack my things and managed to fight my way through the herd of people in the hallway. When I finally get out of the large group, I find Theera behind me. She's scrolling through her phone when Abhi joins me. I told him that I found her pretty and nice, and he was like, "dude, you like her!" I obviously denied it, but it's true. I do have a crush on her.

So we were walking to the front when Theera's phone rang. She answers it and puts it to her ear.

"Hi Sakith." She greets someone. Sakith is a guy's name. Why is she talking to a guy? I can't help the pang of jealousy. I've only known her for a month! What is this?! "Come on! You said you would pick me up!" Theera exclaimed. She listened to the guy on the other end before replying. "Okay, okay. I get it, Princeton is hard, but come on!" Silence, then she sighs. "Fine. Good luck with your paper. Love you Baby." With that, she ends the call.

Love you Baby?!?!?! Nooooo! She has a boyfriend in college!!!

We had reached the front of the school, and we walk outside.

"Saami!" Theera says, calling her friend.

"Hey!" A girl with glasses and really long hair like Theera's walks over.

"Hey bestie!" Theera says.

"What's up?"

"Sakith can't pick me up today." Theera replies with a pout. Her pout is so cute! "I have to walk home now!"

I follow Abhi to the Junior parking lot. Abhi has a car, but I don't. And, since we're practically neighbors, he drops me off after school. Theera and her friend are right behind us, and talking.

"Can't you ride with that family friend of yours?" Theera's friend asks.

"No, Anand has a club today."

"Oh, why don't I drop you?"

"Really?" Theera's face lights up.

"Yeah, I'll drop you off."

"Yeah, okay."

Abhi drove us home.

I had a ton of homework, which I completed, and then I scrolled through Netflix just for the fun of it, since I've already watched all the good things on there.

I'm talking to Saami during lunch when Aditi turns to me.

"Dude, you should talk to him." She says.

"What?" I am so confused.

"Yeah, talk to Neil. Become friends."

"How?" I ask her. "Do I just go up to him and ask him to be my friend? This isn't first grade, man." I stab my pasta with a fork and put it in my mouth.

"Why don't you give him a handshake, and continue talking from there?" She suggests.

I scoff as I continue eating.

Give him a handshake, yeah, right. If only it were that easy.

I'm currently in math, and I just got a brilliant idea. I am gonna ask him for a high-five. Last year, one of my friends and her other friends did a competition to see who could high-five the most people of the opposite gender. So with that in mind, I go to my next class, Physics.

I walk into Physics and sit in my normal seat. Mr. Cillens isn't there today, so we have a substitute, who lets us do anything, as long as we get our work done. I watch as Neil played games on his computer in the middle of doing work. That's so cute!

"Stop staring." Aditi nudges me.

"I'm gonna ask for a high-five." I said.

"What?"

I tell her my plan.

"Oh my god." She says, face palming.

I take a deep breath before standing up.

"Wish me luck." I mutter under my breath. I don't wait for Aditi to reply. Instead, I push my sleeves up and walked up to Neil confidently.

"Hey." I say. He immediately switches tabs. I chuckle lightly and raise my eyebrow. "It's okay, we all do it." I say.

"What do you want?" he asks. Damn, that was harsh.

"Can you give me a high-five?" I ask, holding my hand up.

"What?"

"A high-five."

"Why?"

"My friends and I are doing this challenge to see who can get the most high-fives." I say.

"Hmm, okay." He high-fives me, and I nearly faint from the skin-to-skin contact. His hand is so fricking soft! I know how cringy that just sounded, but if you don't want cringy, well...get lost.

"Thanks." I say as I feel the heat creeping up my face.

"No problem. So, does this reset every day?" He asks before I could walk back to Aditi.

"Uh-yeah." I reply, thinking quickly.

"Oh, okay. I'll give you a high-five every day then?"

I smile.

"Yeah, sure."

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I can't believe that happened!!! Okay, I'm calm.(No I'm not.)

I walk back to Aditi, who just shakes her head. I'm smiling like a maniac, but I really don't care.
