You didn't realize how Patton dealt with people on his world.  When people popped up with a costume, a gimmick or abilities similar to an animal he reacted. Fighting them, pulling them in close and leaving them behind in a dazed state. I they'd been drained, fatigued and eventually hospitalized . They'd been weaker, powerless possibly permanently. Some didn't survive the experience. Those with just suits or tech he reacted the same often keeping the parts for himself.

Finally you wanted an explanation and he delivered.

"You can't really explain it with science... it's this essence, this energy someone has when they're like me.If it's a spider bite, DNA or a suit it's there. I sense it and when I have them.... I feed off it. I'm stronger, and I'm not really that hungry anymore. And they won't be doing anything else under their gimmick again... Some can't handle the strain, that's the reality. " He was addicted but not looking for excuses as he admitted it all. " I can handle it all, it's not like they used their means or their gifts responsibly anyway.... I mean that's what you want anyway."

"I told you there's a hunger....ever since I had these powers it's been there. When it's at bay, I'm rational. If I don't gain this essence, this power it's like it's attacking my insides. I'm not going mad I'm going feral. I can sense even more....to feed on and my hunger grows. I'll just be out there at random attacking whatever I find" You found him in that stat.
