Running was growing old to me. I didn't particularly mind it much, but doing so in these heels was kind of aggravating. The only other issue I had with it was that we had to run about five blocks just to meet up with the Autobots, and in the midst of all of that, we were being chased by some weird fucking worm-like Decepticon; it was literally the scariest Decepticon I had ever seen before in my life and to say that I was scared of it would be an understatement. It made me forget about the fear I held for Starscream and though I knew that if I ever wound up in another altercation with Starscream, I would be scared for my life, but really I wasn't worried about him at the moment.
Our group ran into what looked to be an old warehouse and I nearly collapsed with relief at the sight of the Autobots inside waiting for us. We were finally away from that horrifying being, for now at least. I just hoped one of the Autobots could get rid of it before I saw it again.
"That was one scary ass Decepticon," Epps exclaimed.
I coughed and plopped down onto the ground. "I think I'm going to die," I exclaimed. I heard Sam laugh at me.
"They got my trailer. I need that flight tech. Shockwave can't hunt all of us at once. Wreckers, we need a diversion," Optimus grumbled.
So the mysterious Con had a name. How wonderful. .
Suddenly, I was being pulled off of the ground by a large finger. I blinked and turned around to meet Ironhide's optics.
"What was that for? I was comfortable," I pouted.
He raised his brow plate at me. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yes. There's no need to worry about me," I assured him. He just grunted and stood back up. I let out a huff before walking over to Sam and Carly.
"Listen, we're going to circle around to that glass building and we'll get high enough to make the rocket shot. You guys draw us fire. Let's move," Epps exclaimed.
I groaned and began running only to be stopped by the sound of Que's voice.
"Wait! I can't let you go out there without my urban combat prototypes," he chirped as he threw a bunch of weapons onto the ground.
"We've gotta go, Que," Ironhide grumbled.
I smirked and picked up four of the prototypes.
"They're great inventions for kicking ass."
"What are these?" I asked Que.
"Those are boomsticks, armed in thirty seconds. Grappling gloves for climbing," he told me.
I just shoved them into my jacket and followed the rest of Epps's men out of the warehouse. A few curses escaped my mouth as I was almost struck with stray Decepticon bullets. Epps pushed me and Carly in front of him and Sam grabbed both of our hands, pulling us with him as fast as possible. We approached a building and Sam ran through the entrance door, letting go of our hands as he did so. Epps and his men followed closely behind us.
"Epps, this way," Sam called from in front of us.
We ran over to him and he shoved a door open. I blinked at what looked to be a million stairs above me; stairs were most definitely not my specialty. Sam wasted no time in running up and Carly had to forcibly yank me up the stairs with her. I had no clue how many stairs we needed to climb, but in order to get to the very top of this building, I assumed we had to climb a lot. I honestly didn't know how Carly was managing in her heels and I was also curious as to how hers were even staying on her feet. If it weren't for the fact that I could possibly step on something that was radioactive and die, I would've taken these things off about an hour ago. If only it was winter, I could wear my boots any time I wanted to. This was absolutely ridiculous.
What felt like hours later, Sam finally pushed open the staircase door. My thighs were burning with a great fire from these retched stairs and I was honestly more than happy we had reached our destination.
"Come on. We're high enough," one of Epps's men said.
I ran behind Carly who still had my hand tightly grasped in hers.
"It's a mother getting up here," another man, who I had learned to be Eddie, exclaimed.
"Get your fat ass over here," Epps yelled to him. I chuckled and we stopped at the window, looking out at the building Carly had described to the people on the drone.
"There. It's the building with the dome," she breathed out.
"Set up the rocket!"
Sam pushed the two of us back behind a column to shield us from the blast of the rocket. I stood beside Carly and leaned my head against the post, waiting for all of this to finally be over, but my hope was cut short when I felt the building shift below me.
"Whoa," I exclaimed as I held on tightly to Carly's hand.
"They're shooting at the building," someone said. The sound of glass popping filled my ears and I could feel the building lower ever so slightly.
"This is not a good idea," Eddie said.
"What?"
"This is not a good idea," he repeated.
Sam got up and walked over to him. "Just stop for a second. If we don't do what we came to do, it doesn't matter. We all die," he said to him.
Eddie let out a huff and squatted back down. "I don't even care if the building collapses. I'm having a heart attack anyway."
He never got the chance to get the shot off though. Glass bottles began clanking while desks and other various office items began moving towards the windows. This could only mean one thing.
"The building's going over. Take cover!" Epps yelled to us.
And I knew it. .
Sam ran over to the two of us and got in between us. I braced myself for impact, but instead, the building stopped. I sighed in relief, but it was soon ripped away from me when Carly's voice echoed through the air.
"Guys look!"
My eyes followed in the direction she was pointing and my eyes widened ever so slightly. The was a Decepticon ship headed straight towards us. Sam pulled both Carly and I as close to his body as possible. I let out a squeal as a loud crash sounded. There was no doubt in my mind that there was now a Decepticon behind me.
"Don't move," Sam told us quietly.
I gulped and out of the corner of my eye, I could see the barrel of a gun which was way too large to be human. Three office chairs barreled past us, momentarily distracting the Decepticon. I watched as Epps turned around and tossed something towards the Con. There was a small explosion behind us and I clutched Sam's arm tightly.
"Run!"
Nobody had to tell me twice. I wasted no time in running after Epps and his man. I hadn't a clue as to where we were going but it was better than facing the Decepticons.
"Jump out the window!" I heard someone yell.
Oh hell no. Just as I was about to stop, Epps grabbed my hand and literally yanked me through the glass with him. I let out a loud scream, but it was cut short when I landed back onto the glass. We didn't stop though. We only continued sliding, the end of the building coming closer and closer. I screamed again and let go of Epps's hand in an attempt to slow myself down, but nothing worked no matter how hard I tried.
"Shoot the glass!"
Quickly, I took out my gun and fired directly at the glas below me. The shots weakened the glass enough for my weight to completely shatter it. I fell through the glass and hit the building floor with a thud before flipping over. I probably had cuts all over my body, but at the moment I didn't particularly care. I was worried about the fact the were we still sliding.
I was sliding at a very fast pace on my stomach. There were so many things to grab onto, but I was nowhere near any of it, so I was stuck as I watched everybody else latch onto some sort of object. Epps was below me and fear was in his eyes as he watched me slide. He quickly shifted himself and threw his hand out to me and I grabbed it as fast as I possibly could to keep from flying out the window which was literally about three inches away from me. I came to a sudden stop and I breathed in relief. My limbs still shook with fear, but I didn't release the hold I had on my uncle's arm.
"Is everybody okay?" he called.
"What the hell was that?" I heard Eddie yell.
The wind blew my hair and I looked down toward the ground only to be met with the single red optic of Shockwave. "This evil thing's looking at us," Epps called.
I averted my attention down the street where the worm-like Decepticon was tearing its way through the road, making its way towards the building we were in.
"Oh shit," I grumbled.
"It's even got an ugly ass Decepticon with it."
Epps grabbed me and pulled me up with him, pushing me ahead of him and towards Sam and Carly. I ran with Carly over to a small couch and stood for a fraction of a second before Sam's voice sounded, his tone that of fear.
"We gotta move!"
He ran over to Carly and I and pulled us behind another column. I held on tightly as the building shifted again, but it did no good. I was thrown to the floor and I began rolling along with the rest of them. I never even got the chance to grab onto something other than Carly's hand before the building finally collapsed; instead, the two of us began free-falling. I screamed but suddenly there was a jerk, followed by a pained scream from Sam. I looked up to see that he had caught the two of us and in all honesty, I was surprised that Carly still possessed the strength to hold on to me.
"Give me your hand!" the man below me instructed.
I took his hand and he swung me down into the fire escape before doing the same with Carly. I took a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself down and leaned against the wall, but the sight in front of me caused the fear to resurface inside my body.
"Do you see what I see?" Carly asked me.
"Yes."
"Sam!" she called, nothing but fear in her voice.
Sam and Epps jumped down onto the fire escape with us, their eyes widening when they noticed the Decepticon slithering through the already destroyed building in front of us.
"I'm coming for you," I heard Optimus yell.
I turned to see him flying towards the large mech, delivering a few shots to it. I didn't get the chance to even finish watching what was happening considering Sam had pulled both me and Carly through another building and down another large set of stairs. Eddie threw open a metal door when we reached the bottom level and I was being pulled out into an alleyway, a peculiar sound wavering over my head.
"They're starting. Do you see it?" Sam called as we ran.
More shots were being fired and Epps yelled behind us as we ran through another alley. We rounded the corner and exited the alley, a charred school bus coming into view. It didn't take me long to realize that we had been separated from the group. Sam stopped at the near front of the bus and held an arm out to keep the two of us from going any further.
"What the hell are we supposed to do now?" I asked.
Sam shrugged. "I have no idea."
I was about to answer him back when I heard the sound of a jet engine overhead, followed by scraping metal. I looked up to see Starscream barreling down towards us. "What a treat. You and me alone," he spat.
I just grabbed Carly's and Sam's hands and ran, but stopped when the school bus we had currently been hiding beside flipped over. I pulled them up to the front of the bus and squatted down beneath the hood.
"He's after Sam and I, not you. You need to go," I told Carly. She got up and ran through the bus doors, Sam and I following closely behind her.
"You can't hide, children!" Starscream exclaimed from outside. We ran through the back exit and back outside. I could sense Starscream closely behind us. "Oh, I just love it when your little insect feet try to run."
"Carly, go!" I instructed her as I pulled Sam behind a dumpster with me.
Starscream crushed it under his fist and I jumped back, his bright red optics meeting my frightened blue eyes before he shifted his attention to Sam. Now we be a good time for Ironhide or Bumblebee or even fucking Sideswipe to show up.
"Thought you were working for us boy." His gaze shifted back to me and I swallowed. "You're mine," he spat.
The next thing I knew, I was being yanked off the ground, Starscream's large servo wrapped around my small body. I let out a scream and struggled in his grasp, but it was no use; I was no match for the Decepticon.
"Lea!" I heard Sam yell.
It wasn't long before Starscream's grip on me loosened and before I knew it, I was falling to the ground. I landed on the concrete with a pained groan and rolled over to see Sam hanging by a wire while Starscream spazzed out, yelling about his eye.
"Sam!" I yelled as Starscream flew on top of a building.
I got up to run after Starscream but was pulled back, the strength of my captor slightly crushing me. "No, Lea. You stay here," my dad's voice sounded.
I perked up and turned around, not realizing he had drug me over to Carly's hiding spot behind a wall.
"You have to save Sam. You have to save him," I babbled.
"What the hell is he doing?" my dad grumbled as he jumped over the wall.
I just stayed put beside Carly and she grasped my hand tightly in her own. The only thing I could hear was the sound of multiple gunshots and my dad and Sam's screams. Suddenly, there was a loud explosion and I turned around to see a now-dead Starscream perched on top of a building, but I was more worried about the fact that my dad and Sam were plummeting five stories to the ground. I didn't even have the time to react, though, as Bumblebee swooped in and caught them with ease. I breathed out a sigh of relief, not only because my dad and my big brother were safe, but because Starscream no longer posed a threat to me and my family. .
