Alien Confab

It took me about fifteen minutes to finally get to Sam and Carly's apartment. Oddly enough, traffic here in DC was even crazier than it normally was, so what would normally be a five minute drive turned into a fifteen minute one.

Bumblebee's alternate mode came into view and I pulled up behind him. I turned the car off and got out, patting Bee's hood as I walked by. Without knocking, I opened up the familiar door and walked in before climbing up the two story staircase. Once all of this was over, I would probably kill Sam; walking up these stairs in heels was absolute torture. It was about time for me to bring the boots back out.

Again without knocking, I pushed open the door that led to Sam and Carly's apartment. I was nearly blown away by the sight. It had been so long since I'd been here that I had forgotten how beautiful their very enormous apartment was. It was the sight of Sam on the stairs that finally tore my eyes away from the beauty of the home.

"Why am I here again?" I asked.

He walked down the stairs to stand in front of me. "We have work to do. Simmons should be here shortly," he informed me.

As if on cue, there was a loud buzz. The two of us ran over to the freight elevator. Sam pressed the button to open it, and before my eyes stood Seymour Simmons with a strange blonde guy while Bee was sitting in his alternate mode behind the two of them.

"Tell Megatron, let's tango," he said.

I snickered as Bee's engine revved. His headlights cut on and I looked away to keep from being blinded. I walked over to sit on the couch while Sam, Simmons, Bumblebee, and the blonde guy followed behind me. Surprisingly enough, Sam's home was big enough to accommodate the seventeen foot tall mech. Bee couldn't stand up all the way, but he could squat and I guessed that was good enough for him.

"So, what are we working on here?" I asked the men. Simmons was working on putting up some sort of board while Sam was rummaging through a bunch of papers and the strange blonde guy was hooking up a bunch of equipment. Bee and I, on the other hand, were busy chilling.

"I told you on the phone. We're going to figure out what the Decepticons are after this time and maybe we can put a stop to them before they reach the climax of whatever they've been planning to do," Sam retorted.

I just groaned and sat back in my seat. I might as well just let them do what they came to do.

"We're about to break this case down. What we have here is an astronaut epidemic: MIA, dead, died in a car accident, killed, DOA, car death. It's like these guys can fly into outer space but they can't drive a car," Simmons started.

I sat up. Sam was about to answer him back until there was a knock on the door. He quickly got up to answer it and before long his boss, Bruce Brazos, was walking through the door. Simmons sat down in the chair beside me and watched as Bruce made his way towards a very weary Bumblebee. I decided not to pay attention to what he was doing and instead I turned back to Sam who stood over by the stairs.

"It says NASA launched in two-thousand nine. Forensics show Wang may have messed with the code preventing it from mapping the far side of the moon which is also the dark side of the moon."

"They infiltrate us, intimidate us, coerce us to do their dirty work and when they're done they double tap the cerebellum," Simmons replied.

"So, there's humans working for the Decepticons?" I inquired.

"I don't think this is about the Decepticons looking for something anymore. It seems as if you and Sam are irrelevant to them now. This is about something they wanted to hide," Simmons answered.

I didn't get the chance to answer as Bruce's voice interrupted me. At the moment, he was bucking up at Bumblebee, something that was very stupid on his part. Bee even warned him by wagging his finger at him, but the man just continued. This resulted in Bumblebee taking out his cannon.

"Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid?" his radio sounded. I snickered and raised a brow. Bruce was now on the floor laughing while smacking at Bee's revolving cannon. This guy was a sociopath.

"Sir, we're having a high level alien intel confab here that I don't think you're cleared for," Simmons scolded the man.

Bruce immediately got up and straightened himself out.

"You're right. But it's a bitching robot," he defended.

Sam pushed him over to the door and I just shook my head before turning back to Simmons who let out a small laugh when he saw my facial expression. I just smiled at him and soon enough Sam was making his way back over to us, but my attention was averted to a transforming Brains.

"Hey, I'm smokin' over here. Download missing Russian cosmonauts. It turns out the Soviets cancelled the manned mission to the moon: the moon in nineteen seventy-two. The cosmonauts went into hiding in America and I just found them alive," Brain said.

Dozens of papers started shooting out from the printer beside him and I reached out to grab them, handing a few of them to Bumblebee. The sound of the door opening tore me away from the pages and I looked up to see Carly walking in, a surprised look on her face. She wasn't the only one surprised though. Bee wound up jumping up which resulted in him hitting the ceiling, the hanging chandelier making its way to the ground in front of me. Before it could make impact, Simmons pulled me away from its path. The chandelier hit the floor with a crash, barely escaping Bumblebee's grasp.

"Missed it by that much," his radio sounded.

I just turned around and stared at Carly who was looking back and forth between Sam and I.

"Carly."

"Hi."

Sam and I both spoke at the same time, but Carly disregarded our greetings. I could see the anger in her face as she looked at the two strange men in her home.

"Would somebody care to tell me what the hell is going on here?" she exclaimed.

"Who are you?" Simmons asked.

Wrong choice in words, Seymour. .

"Who are you?" she countered.

"Who am I? Who's that? Dutch, frisk her," Simmons instructed his blonde friend; so he had a name.

"Certainly," he responded as he walked up to her.

"There's no need for that," I called. He just kept going but Carly quickly reprimanded him as he got closer.

"Don't touch me. Sam, Azalea?" She gave the both of us looks, but I really just didn't know what to tell her.

"Angel, I was working. I'm sorry about this," Sam stuttered. She just rolled her eyes and walked up the stairs. Sam disappeared behind her and Simmons turned to look at me.

"She lives here?" he asked me.

"Yes."

"Wow. You had your chance to frisk her, Dutch," he said as he turned to his friend.

Dutch looked rather uneasy. "I have a girlfriend."

"Really? What's her name?" Simmons asked him quickly.

"India," Dutch responded in a very unsure tone. I let out a laugh and Simmons turned back to face me.

"What happened to Mikaela?" he asked.

I just shrugged. Mikaela had never really given Sam a true reason as to why she had broken up with him. It just happened. She never even told me, but I wasn't as worried about it as I used to be. Sam was happy now with Carly and that was really all that mattered to me and of course to Sam.

No later than ten minutes, Sam and Carly came running back down the stairs. Carly looked more than angry and Sam looked more upset than anything else.

"Carly," he called.

She ignored him and walked out the door. Sam stopped and looked at me, the expression on his face indicating to me that he needed help. I sighed and walked over to him. The two of us headed out the door and down the stairs. We barely caught Carly before she could get into her car, which I had never noticed before. It was a silver Mercedes SLS-AMG. What I also noticed was that she was dressed up. She wore a sparkly blue dress with only one sleeve and her hair was curled and pulled to the side. I didn't know where she was headed, but she looked beautiful.

"Listen, I know you're thinking about your brother, but it's not that situation, okay?" Sam stopped her.

"No? And why isn't it, Sam? You think we'd rather have his medals or we'd rather have him?" she retorted.

I frowned as I remembered all the wonderful stories Carly had told me about her brother who had sadly died in battle overseas.

"Carly," I started, ready to defend Sam.

"No, Lea. Don't start with me. Did you forget about Dylan's party tonight too?" she asked. I pursed my lips. In reality, I had forgotten all about it. There was just so much going on that it merely slipped from my mind. "I figured that much," she grumbled before walking away.

I groaned and both Sam and I chased after her.

"Listen, I hear you. I get it. Where are you taking my bunny?" Sam inquired.

She stopped and turned around. "You think I could sleep last night? No. And then it hit me. Sam wants to be in danger and apparently now so does Azalea. They clearly don't know who they are without it. You want to know the best part about both of your war stories? It's that they were stories."

I just stayed silent as Sam continued talking. "I just want to matter, Carly."

She sighed. "You matter to me, Sam. Both of you do. What did Ironhide have to say about you coming over here, huh?" she asked me.

"I didn't exactly tell him my reason for coming over here," I answered softly.

She laughed dryly. "Exactly. You knew he wouldn't want you doing this but neither of you seem to care about how the people closest to you will feel about it," she retorted.

The sound of car engines cut us off and the three of us looked over to see Dino and Sideswipe rolling in. Simmons and Dutch had also made their way outside with Bumblebee. She sighed again and turned back to face the two of us.

"I know you're worried, Carly. But we promise you we can handle this. We've been through it before," Sam assured her.

"Can you? You can promise it?" Carly asked, looking back and forth between the two of us.

"We promise, Carly," I assured her.

"I don't want to lose either of you and I know where this leads. I'm not ready for this. Are you coming with me? Are either of you going to come with me?" she asked softly.

I wished that I could tell her yes, but I couldn't. I had never left Sam alone in anything like this and I wasn't about to start now. Whenever he needed me, I would be there for him, no matter what was happening.

"We can't," Sam told her.

"Okay," she whispered before getting into her car.

She took the bunny in her hands and ripped the foot off of it before handing it to Sam. "Here's your foot."

After saying that, she seemed to perk up in realization. She reached into the backseat and grabbed a sparkly fabric before throwing it at me. It was a dress exactly like the one she was wearing, but instead of it being blue, it was black. I frowned.

"And that was supposed to be what you were going to wear tonight. I know you don't have many formal dresses so I bought that for you after work today. I was going to come over to your apartment after I got ready to help you get ready," she said to me.

I just stayed silent. There was nothing that I could even say to attempt to make her feel better about this situation and I could tell by Sam's silence that he felt the exact same way. Carly on the other hand just shook her head at us before speeding off down the street.

"What the hell just happened?" I whispered. Sam just shrugged.

"Warrior's path is a solitary one. How the hell did she afford that car?" Simmons asked from behind us. I had a feeling I knew the answer to that.

"Probably Dylan," I answered.

"Who's Dylan?" he inquired.

"Her and Azalea's boss," Sam replied.

"Rich bastards. I used to hate them, but now it's just-" I cut him off.

"What are we supposed to do now?" I asked him.

"We're taking a little trip. Are you up for it?" he smirked.

I just shrugged. "I guess so. I have nothing else to do."

"Alright. Let's get to it," Simmons chirped as he walked over to a white car.

I looked at Sam and he just gave me a small smile. This was going to be one long day.
