32. Blue And Green

Harry couldn't say how long it had been but from the moment he had opened his eyes this fine morning, he had been staring at Louis' beautiful sleeping face, itching to reach out and touch. He was completely mesmerized by his sheer beauty and the quiet peacefulness in his relaxed features. With Louis' arms still loosely wrapped around his waist, Harry felt like heaven. Being in his arms was the best feeling in the world. It made him feel safe and secure and loved every single time. It felt like home.

Stirring slightly, Louis' arms around him tightened for a moment before loosening again but pulling him closer into his chest. Only a second later, Louis opened his eyes and Harry was met with the most stunning blue eyes he had ever seen. Louis' tired eyes in the morning would be the death of him someday.

"Morning, Petal" Louis' voice was slightly coarse and sent a shiver down his spine. His morning voice was so damn sexy.

"Morning, Sun" Harry reached out now to stroke over Louis' cheek, entirely captured by the ocean in his eyes.

"How early is it?" Louis wasn't breaking their eye contact, so Harry could see that he was expecting it to be very early.

"It's almost eleven, Lou" Harry giggled quietly, not wanting to break their little moment. "We slept in, Love".

"That's nice" Louis stretched again a little bit, leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead. "Really nice".

With his forehead tingling, Harry puckered his lips in a silent invitation that Louis immediately understood. Leisurely, they connected their lips in a soft morning kiss that set Harry's insides on fire, a low and calm fire but a fire nonetheless. This was something he still didn't fully understand. Until he had met Louis, Harry had hated kisses in the morning before brushing his teeth. He had despised morning breath. But with Louis, he just couldn't wait to kiss him, morning breath be damned. Their early morning kisses were one of his favourites and he treasured them.

Just like he treasured Louis. This man pressing kiss after kiss against his lips with a huge smile on his face was definitely the love of his life and he was willing to marry him one day if they decided to actually go that step. After yesterday, he felt totally at ease with knowing they were entirely on the same page, always.

"Babe, you're glowing" Louis mumbled against his lips in awe.

"What?" Harry opened his eyes and looked around. And Louis was right. He was indeed glowing. Well, sparkling would fit the situation better. The entire room around them was sparkling by now and Harry felt himself blush immediately. "My magic must be going crazy for some reason. I ... um ... sorry".

"What are you sorry for, Baby?" Louis lifted one hand up to cup his cheek, caressing it gently. "I don't care if you make our entire house sparkle. This is you and I will always love you, Petal".

"You're incredible, Lou" Harry just had to kiss him again, a bit deeper now but still closed-mouth and gentle. Louis deserved all the gentle kisses in the world. "I get why my magic is going crazy when I think about you. You make my heart go crazy".

With rosy cheeks, Louis gazed into his eyes. "You were thinking about me while we were kissing? You're so cute".

"You never do that?" Harry counted the little freckles around Louis' nose in his head like every morning. He loved those.

"I do, actually" Louis pursed his lips in that fond look again. His heart had labelled it as Louis' Harry-face, solely for him. "Just that my sparkles don't expose me".

"Well, what can I say? You make me glow" Harry pressed another kiss to Louis' lovely lips, making the sparkles go crazy. "I don't know what's happening. I can't control it".

"Don't worry about it, Haz" Louis stroked some of his curls out of his face gently. "I love you, my magical boy".

Tearing up like a total nutcase, Harry beamed at him with a wobbly smile. "And I love you, Sunshine".

"But I really have to pee right now" Louis burst their bubble with a loud chuckle, causing Harry to snort out some laughter. "Sorry".

"It's okay. Go before your bladder explodes all over the bed" he just swatted Louis' chest, rolling out of his warm arms. "You still want breakfast or do you prefer lunch? It's pretty late".

"Brunch?" Louis grinned sheepishly, stopping by the bathroom door. "But I do need to take Alexa on a quick walk first".

"Do that. I'll prepare our brunch in the meantime" Harry waved him off, getting out of bed to get ready for the day a little bit.

"But don't go too overboard, okay? You don't need to, Baby. I will love you even if you don't spoil me every Sunday morning" Louis made his heart skip a beat with his words stupidly.

"I love spoiling you though" Harry simply looked at Louis, making him sigh in defeat. "But I promise I won't conjure up an entire buffet for ten".

"Let's see about that" Louis shook his head at him with a smile before closing the bathroom door to take care of his business.

Opening the closet, Harry took out new socks and briefs and one of Louis' old jerseys that he had found at the very bottom of the closet. Putting them on, he felt his chest swell with pride at being able to wear his boyfriend's name on his back and he was reminded again that maybe one day he would be more than that. Unlike last year, this thought wasn't scaring him anymore. He just knew that if they got married, they wouldn't fall out of love as he and Phil had done. This with Louis was different. This was more. It was powerful in a way that Harry still couldn't grasp but by now, he didn't feel the need to anymore. He just let himself feel it.

Dressed in Louis' jersey, Harry went downstairs and started on their brunch with Coco sitting in the kitchen hatch, watching him. Putting on coffee, Harry could hear Louis' footsteps on the stairs mixed with Alexa's clacking claws and it put a smile on his face. Everything about this felt domestic and homey.

"We're not gonna be long, Darling!" Louis called over to him before the front door fell shut, making Harry wonder for a short moment why Louis didn't come in to peck his lips like normally.

Shaking that thought off, Harry focused back on their brunch and got almost everything ready in record time. While making their salmon and ham with chive cream cheese sandwiches, Harry thought back to their not-dinner yesterday. Even though he had been very anxious, the afternoon had turned out splendidly. Their families had gotten along great and seeing them all together had warmed his heart. But it had also brought back his wish for his own family, which he had locked up at the bottom of his heart. But seeing Louis with his sisters or especially with Bethany had made his heart long for their own kids out of literally nowhere. Louis would be the best father and Harry just knew that. He could see them having a family one day in the far future. Even though they hadn't technically talked about this very topic, Harry knew that Louis wasn't against having kids. He knew that Louis had actually been worried about this before. Harry knew Louis had been wondering why they'd never talked about this when it had been a deal-breaker for him before. He couldn't say why they hadn't.

Maybe it was one of those things again that they didn't need to address just like marriage, which Harry had addressed in the end but it had gnawed on him after seeing Louis interact with his parents and his sister so effortlessly. So very unlike Phil, who had never had a close relationship with Harry's family or friends. This maybe should have been a sign way earlier but Harry still wouldn't change a thing if he could. Life had brought him Louis and he wouldn't want to risk meeting him the way he did. It had brought them here and Harry has never been happier.

The sound of the lock being turned and claws on the ground tore him out of his thoughts. Only a few seconds later, he could sense Louis entering the kitchen wordlessly. Smelling like fresh air and sunshine, Louis wrapped his arms around him from behind and buried his nose immediately in his neck, breathing him in.

"You're wearing my jersey" Louis pressed a kiss to his neck. "You look very sexy in it. A beautiful view to come home to".

"I like wearing it" Harry turned the stove off and put the pan to the side before turning around in Louis' arms, looping his arms directly around his neck, something he rarely did because Louis was an inch shorter than him. "Welcome back".

"I really like coming home to you, Baby" Louis pressed their lips together in a swift kiss. "It smells delicious in here".

About to tell Louis what he had made for them, his eyes fell onto the middle aisle, making him gasp in love. "Louis".

Catching on to what was happening, Louis let go of him and grabbed the flowers to hand them over to him. Louis had bought him fresh dahlias and what smelled like scones. Louis had bought him his favourite flowers just like that on his daily dog walk. This man was out of this world. He was a literal angel. Perfection.

"I walked by Maggie's shop and couldn't resist buying them. They made me think of you and I thought you'd like them because you said you love them and you're already making all our f ...".

Totally endeared by this mesmerizing creature, Harry cut his nervous rambling off with a quick kiss, making him blush prettily. "Louis, they're beautiful. Thank you".

"You're welcome" Louis mumbled with rosy cheeks. A blushing Louis was a beautiful sight. Way more beautiful than flowers.

"You didn't have to get me flowers and especially not because I'm making us brunch. I love doing this for y ...".

"I know but I wanted to" Louis was the one cutting him off now, his eyes seeming endless. "I told you before that I'm gonna bring you flowers all the time".

"You did" Harry remembered their moment in the magic flower garden months ago.

"Besides, you always cook for me because I'm shit at it and I know you love cooking but I still wanna help you" Louis continued adorably, putting the little of-scones-smelling bag onto the counter to take his hand. "So, maybe you could teach me? Enough to help you better around the kitchen. The only thing I can make is noodles and that just isn't enough to support you and ...".

"You do enough, Baby" Harry put the flowers down next to them, cupping Louis' face tenderly. "Don't ever feel like you're not supporting or helping me. You do. Every day".

"But ...".

"That you can't cook doesn't change that" Harry just knew what he wanted to say, knowing his stubborn Capricorn boyfriend way too well. "But if you really want me to teach you, then I will. I did do that before and you can bake now".

"Only a little" Louis pointed out meekly.

"Enough" Harry caressed his cheek affectionately. "I love you even if you can't cook. Don't ever doubt that".

"I don't" Louis assured him strongly.

"Good" Harry pecked his lips sweetly. "Now how about brunch, mh? Everything's ready to be eaten".

"Sounds perfect to me" Louis kissed him again softly.

Deciding to eat in the kitchen, they filled their plates with bacon, eggs and baked beans and sat down by the middle isle, where Harry had placed his cheese platter and sandwiches. All of this food would definitely gonna last them at least the whole day, especially now that Louis had bought them scones in the only shop around that was open on a Sunday on top of everything else. Smiling at the thought, Harry knew he would put the remains in boxes for Louis to have breakfast tomorrow.

"Did the walk help to clear your head and decide on which story you're gonna write next?" Harry asked him curiously, knowing that Louis was unsure which idea to choose for his next book.

"Not really, to be honest. I'm still a bit torn" Louis munched on his bacon cutely. "Maybe you need to decide for me".

"As a passionate and loyal reader of your books, I might be able to help" Harry grinned at him around his eggs. "Which ideas were you considering again?".

"Well, I have been quite eager to write another enemies-to-lovers story again but with them being enemies with benefits for quite some time at the start," Louis told him passionately, his eyes sparkling when he spoke. Harry loved to see him like this. "On the other hand, I've had an idea for a work-friends-to-strangers-to-lovers story that would be a bit shorter again. But then there's a story that's been on hold for a while that I really wanna continue, especially because I know you would love that one. It's with magic and fairies and all that stuff. Not my usual thing but well".

"I see why you have difficulty choosing. They all sound like great ideas and I would love to read all of them" Harry was already way too intrigued to make a decision. He wanted every single story because he just loved Louis' books.

"Thanks" Louis blushed at the compliment like every time he said something positive about his writing abilities. "The worst part is that I have so many old ideas that I still wanna write but with each new one that I write first, those get pushed further back".

"Too bad you can't clone yourself," Harry thought out loud, making himself laugh because he thought he was funny.

"Oh, you'd like that" Louis smirked dirtily at him.

"Get your mind out of the gutter, Louis" Harry turned crimson in seconds, his mind definitely going straight into the gutter and picturing fucking and being fucked at the same time.

"I know you're picturing it. I know what you look like when you're thinking about sex" Louis saw right through him pretentiously.

Before Harry could uselessly defend himself, his phone made an awfully loud beeping sound, making him jump. Ignoring Louis laughing at him, Harry took out his phone to see who had texted him. Frowning at the screen, he saw a text from Sarah that quite literally broke his heart into a million pieces. "Oh".

"What's wrong, Haz?" Louis immediately picked up on his change in mood, standing up to wrap an arm around him.

"Sarah just texted me that an old friend of hers died in a magic accident, something with a potion going wrong" Harry shared the tragic news with him. "Her friend had a three-year-old daughter and she survived but she's an orphan now".

"Oh, Haz. I'm so sorry" Louis pulled him into his chest as best as possible with Harry still sitting on his high stool. "How's Sarah dealing with this and where is the daughter now?".

"Sarah is doing okay. They haven't been that close anymore but they've known each other for decades. That's why she was still on the emergency contacts list and the daughter is with her" Harry let him know shaken up. He felt so bad for the kid. "Darcy has no family left and Sarah said no one knows what to do now. She and Chloe can't take her for good. They're not made to be parents in any way and never wanted kids, so Darcy can't stay with them for long but she has nowhere to go. Orphan witches shouldn't end up in normal orphanages. It's too risky. They can't control their powers yet and if someone notices ... Oh, God".

"Hey, don't panic, okay?" Louis rubbed over his arm soothingly, causing Harry to let his head drop onto Louis' shoulder to seek comfort in his warm presence. "We'll find a solution".

"But how? She's only three, Lou. She needs at least foster parents for the time being until we find her a forever home ...".

"How about our place?" Louis shook the very ground under his feet with his selfless offer. Harry couldn't believe his ears.

In sheer disbelief, Harry's head snapped up at the man he loved to gape at him. "Are you for real?".

"Of course, Haz" Louis looked so serious right now, making his heart flutter in his chest with that determined look in his eyes. "We have enough space to take her in and time also isn't an issue".

"You're actually serious right now" Harry still couldn't believe what he was hearing right now, only blinking in shock.

"I know this might sound reckless because I don't know the first thing about magic children and their abilities but you do and I can learn to ...".

"You are unbelievable, Louis Tomlinson" Harry cupped Louis' face in absolute wonder, a bright smile taking over his features. "How are you only worried about being out of your depth when it comes to magic? How ... You would take her in?".

"Of course, I would, Haz" Louis was frowning now, looking way too adorable. "You love kids and always wanted them. And you worry about little Darcy already as if she were yours because that's how fast you get attached to children. I love that about you, Haz. And I ... this girl needs help, our help. We can help her".

"I just can't believe you would offer to take her in just like this. As if you didn't even need to think about it ...".

"Because I don't need to think about it" Louis sounded so sure at this very moment that it normally would make Harry weak in the knees. Thankfully, he was already sitting. "Darcy needs a place to stay and someone to love her. We can offer her a home and love, so why should we not give her that? There's nothing to think about. Not for me".

"She's a witch though" Harry's heart was hammering so loud in his chest that he couldn't really hear his own voice.

"So are you and I love you" Louis readjusted his stool so that he could stand between his legs and grab his waist. "But if you think that whoever decides what happens to her might think I can't ...".

"There is seriously nothing you can't do, Louis" Harry pecked his lips to shut him up, his heart not able to handle all the love he was feeling for this man. "And there isn't anyone who decides what happens to her aside from Saran and whoever she wants to know about this. It works a bit differently with magic orphans if we have any say in this. Paperwork can be conjured up".

"That's pretty handy" Louis visibly relaxed right in front of him, stepping even closer to him, so Harry wrapped his legs lightly around Louis' waist to keep him close. "So, what are we ...?".

Jumping onto the middle isle with force, Coco cut him off and made both of them fall silent when they took her in. Dropping his legs again to lean closer to his cat, Harry examined her eyes because they had changed. Her normally emerald green eyes weren't just green anymore. One of her eyes was still as green as his own eyes. But her other eye was blue now. As blue as Louis' very eyes. His cat was looking at them with their eyes.

And that's when it clicked in his brain and everything fell into place. Her entire behaviour towards Louis, the fact that he could sense when Louis was close, his magic going crazy when he just so much as thought about him, them having dreamt about the other in one way or the other. All of this made sense now.

With a shaking hand, Harry reached out to pet her head, his eyes tearing up when she locked eyes with him. "Shit".

"Are you alright, Haz?" Louis asked immediately like the angel he was, touching his skin under the jersey gently. "Is something wrong with Coco? Why does she have ...?".

"Everything is more than alright, Lou" Harry turned around to his boyfriend, wrapping his legs back around Louis' waist to pull him right into his chest. "Everything makes sense now".

"What are you talking about?" Louis caressed his back under his jersey slowly but looked so adorably confused and lost.

"We're soulmates, Louis" Harry cupped his face yet again, pushing some of Louis' messy hair out of his eyes, which had grown huge by now. "We're actual soulmates, Sunshine".

Studying his face for a moment in absolute silence, Louis' eyes seemed to sparkle like actual stars when he smiled that beautiful smile of his, that made his eyes crinkle. "We're soulmates?".

"We are" Harry confirmed again to make it sound real to his own ears but it was definitely not something he had expected to ever experience. He really was the luckiest man on the planet. "Coco is connected to my soul, remember? That's why her eyes always looked like mine but now they look like both of our eyes because our souls belong together. We're meant to be and she always knew that. Apparently now was the moment to let us in on her secret. I don't really know why specifically today" Harry explained to him a little how he knew they were soulmates, which still sounded surreal to him. Louis was his soulmate.

"Wow," Louis breathed out quietly, his hands still on his back now.

"Yeah, wow" Harry could only agree with the sentiment.

"Does this mean we're gonna take Darcy in?" Louis tilted his head to the side, his eyes looking so endlessly blue right now.

"How are you real?" Harry stroked with his thumbs over his cheeks, his eyes tearing up now and clogging up his throat.

"Is that a yes?" Louis pressed a kiss to the inside of his wrist.

"Screw this. Yes," Harry tightened his legs around Louis' waist and fell forward to hug the life out of him, feeling Louis steady him in his arms instantly. No matter how much time might pass, Harry would never get used to this man. Louis was simply out of this world and Harry loved him to pieces. "Yes, Lou. Let's take her in and be a little family with her. Let's bring her home".
