After taking a shower and throwing his dirty clothes in David's washing machine Max changed into one of David's shirts using them as a set of pajamas. Max climbed into bed and instantly felt a pang of guilt seeing his counselor sleeping on the floor all because of him. "We could share a bed if you want" Max said shyly. David looked up at him with the eyes of an enthusiastic puppy and quickly jumped into bed beside Max. Max wouldn't admit it, but having David so close just made Max feel so secure. Max cuddled into Mr.Honeynuts and fell asleep.

Max's eyes went wide suddenly he was back in his old home with his parents. He was tied up to a wall and his parents along with their asshole friends kept throwing empty beer bottles at him. Whenever they would hit the kid they would all take another enormous swig and laugh their heads off. The laughter was murder to Max's ears. Max pleaded with them to stop, but was only answered with a slurred "thatzzz what you get". Max tried hard to escape, but the ropes were just too tight.

Max's eyes shot opened. He began screaming at the top of his lungs, thrashing his hands violently. David rolled over and embraced the kid in a tight hug. "It's okay" he whispered "I'm here, the monsters are gone". Monsters, huh. A pretty accurate definition of his parents. Max began laughing at this thought and Davids eyes grew concerned. "What are you laughing at that Max?". "You just accurately described my parents without knowing anything about them" Max replied. "Your nightmares are about your parents?" David asked. Max just shrugged. Max saw the confusion grow in David's eyes. "They hate me. They beat me every chance they get. It's just hard to get over some of the memories". "Oh Max" Max gave a nonchalant shrug; he just felt so empty inside. Max didn't know it yet, but David was assembling a plan so that Max wouldn't need to return to his house of horrors. David got Max to go back to sleep and went on a special mission; he was sure Gwen could take care of the camp for one day.
