It didn't take a genius to notice that the trio was acting strangely. Max got up on time instead of the usual you wake me your dead routine. Max and Neil both ate the slop labeled oatmeal at breakfast instead of just giving it to Nikki. They all looked so happy. Gwen tried to voice her concerns to David, but David just chalked it up to them finally realizing the magical properties of Camp Campbell so knowing she wasn't going to win just gave up.

The hike was relatively early so that there would be time for a picnic once they reached the top of the hill. David wanted to lead the hike, but Gwen noticed how the trio was staying near the front of the group and decided it better and less troublesome if she led since she could watch them better.

Gwen was watching the trio so well that she didn't notice the trip wire that sent a pie straight into her face, which then threw her off balance and caused her to fall releasing a container of honey and feathers onto her, and ended up getting her catapulted into the disgusting lake water. The trio was silent unsure rather to laugh or pray for their lives. David always lead them on hikes. Gwen usually didn't even come on hikes. The prank was designed to go off on its own and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it. Even Max knew Gwen was not a force to be reckoned with. Which is why when Gwen came stopping back up the hill covered in water Max didn't run off like Nikki and Neil did. Max was frozen in fear.

"What the actual fuck" Gwen screamed approaching closer

"Now Gwen I'm sure they didn't mean to; they are young and impressionable and I'm sure they're very sorry" David stammered trying to defuse the situation.

Gwen looked David straight in the eyes radiating furry. "Didn't mean to my ass. Did you see how much fucking planning that took David. They're just little assholes! When are you going to get it through your mind that sometimes people are just shit. You can't save everyone and not everyone deserves to be saved." 

Seeing David turn speechless she continued marching towards Max.  Max's mind began to swirl. Useless, useless, useless, no one wants you just go away. Pathetic that's what you are. Everyone will betray you, everyone. She's going to hit you just like the others. She's going to beat you senseless. Max's mind overwhelmed him and his vision blurred and his hearing vanished leaving him with his thoughts. His stomach lurched causing him to drop to his knees and lose his lunch over and over and over again. Eventually, his body gave out completely and Max passed out. In front of his counselors and new dad, in front of all the campers. Well, there goes Max's street cred, not that he cared. He was in the bittersweet bliss of nothingness where nothing went right, but most importantly nothing went wrong and Max would gladly welcome that anytime.
