Chapter 2: The Emperor

They kept walking across The Boiling Isles until they made it to The Emperor's palace.

Luz growled as she looked at it. The home of an evil tyrant. And the home of a murderer.

Golden Guard smirked. "Oh. You remember this place, don't you?"

Luz didn't respond, she just kept staring at the palace with nothing but hate and anger.

"Oh, what would your mother think of you now?" Golden Guard asked, clicking his tongue and shaking his head. "Being a criminal."

"DON'T EVER TALK ABOUT MY MOTHER THAT WAY!!!" Luz suddenly growled, once again thrashing around in her chains.

The guards just forced her to her knees; making sure her face hit the cement.

The impact woke King up and he yawned. "Luz...?" He then gasped upon seeing his owner on the ground with a bloody nose. "LUZ!!!"

Golden Guard just grabbed King and held up his staff towards the little demon's neck, it crackling with red electricity. "SHUT IT."

King whimpered, trembling in fear and hugging himself.

Luz wanted to rush over to her King, but instead, she was forced back up to her feet, and then shoved towards the entrance of The Emperor's Palace.

They kept walking and walking until they made it to a dark room, covered in nearly nothing but a dark gold. There was a giant and disgusting beating heart on the ceiling. It only seemed to beat faster as Luz and King were forced inside the room. And then finally? Sitting on the throne...Emperor Belos.

He wore a golden mask, with long upward horns. The eyes of his mask were hollowed out, completely void of any color. He wore a large white cloak with golden trimming. And finally, he carried some kind of white and gold scepter.

"Ah...the Wild Witch." Belos said as he stood from his throne and walked over.

Luz gritted her teeth, feeling so much anger and hate. She hadn't met The Emperor in person many times, but there was one defining moment that she would forever remember.

Belos killing her mother.

"You...monster!!!! WHATEVER YOU'RE PLANNING, I'LL STOP!" Luz screamed, once more thrashing in her chains. "And if you even THINK about hurting King, I'll tear you apart!"

Belos chuckled to himself. "Amusing. But I actually have a different fate planned for both of you." He then began walking into another way.

Luz was then dragged along with the guards, who followed. While the Golden Guard just kept holding King and forcing him to come along.

They continued to walk even more until they made it to a glowing room. Belos' cape began to blow against the force of the wind. "Ah. Here we are."

Luz growled at Belos before her eyes widened at what was causing the glow. A circular device, with glowing blue energy inside of the circle. And much like everything and everyone in the palace, it was white and gold.

It was a portal.

"What...is this?" Luz asked, despite actually knowing the answer.

"A gateway for The Titan." Belos said as he walked further towards the portal. "The Titan has personally requested that I build a portal to another dimension...a dimension called Earth."

"Earth...?" Luz whispered. She had heard of the place. A few Wild Witches went there, and that place was how Luz's mother gave her the name Luz, which she was told meant Light.

"Yes." Belos cackled. "It's the perfect place for the Day of Unity."

"You keep going on about this Day of Unity! The Titan is dead and has been for centuries!!! You're insane!!!" Luz snarled.

Belos only chuckled more. "The Titan is only gone physically...you do not know what I am capable of, Luz Noceda."

The portal then suddenly got stronger, the force causing some of the guards to slide across the floor a little.

"...Throw in the demon." Belos said as he faced Golden Guard. "The portal needs a proper test...to see if its deadly or not."

"Of course, my liege." Golden Guard said before walking towards the portal. King screamed and cried, trying to escape the Golden Guard's grip.

"N-NO!!! LET ME G-GO!!!!" King screamed and sobbed.

"KING!!!!!" Luz screamed before her eyes finally started to glow and she roared, her chains breaking. She then punched one of the guards in the face, and kicked the other. She then raised her hand and summoned her staff.

She then spun her staff around and blasted Golden Guard with light, forcing him to let go of King as he tumbled. She then dove in, despite the strong winds, and hugged King.

"L-LUZ!" King exclaimed, relieved.

Luz held King close before standing and then blasting at the other guards running towards her with light, her cape blowing in the wind.

Belos' black eyes then turned blue and they narrowed. "So, you think you can escape?"

Luz screamed and spun around her finger, and then shot out a giant vortex of fire.

Belos grabbed his staff and spun it around, deflecting the flames. "Poor fool."

He then slammed his staff down, a red shockwave sending Luz and King flying. Luz slammed against the wall, and King tumbled across the floor.

Belos just started to walk before he grabbed King and then lifted him towards the portal. He then threw him in, King's screams of terror being drastically cut short.

"KING!!!!!!" Luz screamed as she quickly got up, not caring about her revenge against Belos. She couldn't lose King! Not him too!

But then, Golden Guard dashed in and blocked a swing from her staff. The two of them clashed for only a few seconds before Luz shoved Golden Guard.

Golden Guard suddenly began to become sucked in before he screamed as he was sent flying through the portal.

Luz then dove in, not caring where it lead her as long as it lead her to King.

Belos growled before the portal's energy continued to grow until it exploded. Belos screamed as he was sent flying, but he landed.

Other guards, lead by a tiny advisor of some kind rushed in, to see the portal destroyed.

"My liege! Are you ok!?" The advisor asked.

Belos breathed heavily before facing her. "Yes, Kiki...begin the reconstruction of the portal."

"Where is Golden Guard...?" Kikimora asked.

"He was sucked in...if he does not respond to our calls, then the portal is deadly and The Wild Witch and the demon are gone." Belos said.

"And...if he does?"

"Then the portal has succeeded in its purpose...but this will only mean Luz Noceda must be dealt with."

Kikimora bowed. "I will personally send our troops and captured beasts after her once the portal is reconstructed...if it didn't kill her and the demon."

Belos nodded before leaving. "Very well."

Meanwhile...

Luz screamed as she suddenly saw a darkness at the end of the brightness she was tumbling through. She then entered the darkness and then found herself in some kind of strange place with many strange details...that she only saw for a few seconds before she was knocked against something.

She tumbled down from that very easily shattered substance onto something leafy and prickly. She groaned, but got up. She had to find King.

"K-King!!!" Luz cried, slowly standing, limping because of the impact. "King!! Where are you?!"

"L...Luz!" A familiar voice cried, and then, the King of Demons ran out of the rather dark green forest, but he looked hurt as he was limping.

"KING!!!" Luz cried, rushing over and then falling down, but having hugged King just as she fell. "Oh, my little King!!! Thank Titan you're okay!!!"

King hugged back, sniffling and whimpering because of his wound. "L-L-Luz...I-I was s-so...s-scared...I-I'm a King of Demons! N-Not loneliness! I...I thought you were gone..."

Luz held King close, rocking him like a parent would their baby. "I'm never leaving you-"

Then, a giant flashing light shined upon the both of them...and footsteps were heard.
