Chapter 1: Silver Sword(Preview)
Spoiler Warning for Witcher 3: the Wild Hunt
[(Y/N)'s POV]
I brought my silver blade down on the Werewolf, however it backstepped almost fully dodging the strike. I managed to graze it, breaking the skin and drawing blood, and scraping some fur off. The Werewolf howled and lunged for me, I ducked under the monster letting it pass over me. As I turned to face the creature I saw it running away from me on all fours.
Me: "Dammit."
I broke into a sprint after my bounty, not wanting to miss out on a nice pouch of gold. I soon realized I wouldn't be able to catch the creature in a race, but it could only run so far. I slowed my pace to a walk and focused on the ground, small traces of blood and a few strands of fur could barely be seen in the grass, the scent was strong enough to follow.
Me: "I was hoping to finish this up quick. I've got to head for Kaer Morhen soon."
I put my silver sword back in its sheath on my back and adjusted the straps to both my steel and silver sword, then began tracking my fleeing bounty.
[Time Skip, Tracking the Beast]
I stopped at the entrance to a cave. The blood trail led inside, no doubt the Werewolf's lair. I drew my silver sword and walked into the cave, taking a small drink of Cat (Potion) to help me see in the dark clearer. The lair was small, no diverging paths, no second way out, no escape for the creature. Werewolves are simple monsters to kill. Most only act on instinct, seeking prey much like normal wolves, however I've met a few Werewolves that showed intelligence. This one showed no motivation for it's attacks besides to satisfy it's hunger. Once I got into the main cavern that was the cave, I raised my brow at the sight.
Me: "Ciri?"
Before me was the light blonde haired girl, a silver blade soaked in, what smelled like, Cursed Oil stabbed into the werewolf's chest. She looked over at me a moment then smiled, ripping her blade from the werewolf and sheathing it.
Ciri: "(Y/N)!"
She ran up to me, though she's grown so much she's still shorter than me. She looks so different, wouldn't have recognized her if it wasn't for the hair and the odd magic pressure.
Ciri: "We haven't seen each other in a long time! What are you doing here?"
I pointed to the werewolf behind her.
Me: "I was hunting down the lycanthrope, but it seems you got to it first."
Ciri: "Oh, sorry bout that. I was searching the cave when it rushed in here, did look a little beat up."
Me: "So, what are you doing in Velen? Last I heard you were going to go wander the world. Train your skills."
Ciri laughed.
Ciri: "Figured I would start with Velen, seeing as I was already here."
Me: "Still as enthusiastic as ever. How has Geralt been, haven't seen him since last I saw you."
Ciri: "Same as ever, overprotective and stern. Has a few new scars, as expected of a Witcher."
Me: "Is it Yennifer or Triss now?"
Ciri: "Yenn."
I sighed.
Me: "Geralt certainly has a thing for sorceresses doesn't he."
Ciri: "Oh! I'd expect you to be headed to Kaer Morhen soon, winter is almost here."
Me: "Yeah. I waited too long. I'll head there now, might get hit with it halfway through the ride though."
Ciri stopped a moment and thought of something. Considering the smile and look on her face, I didn't like the idea she came up with.
Ciri: "I could take us there. It wouldn't even take a couple minutes."
Me: "Ciri... you know I hate portals."
Ciri: "Oh come on, every Witcher does. Besides, I'd hate to see you freeze to death on the ride home. And I'd love to see Yenn and Geralt again."
Me: "Wait they're still at Kaer Morhen? Figured they'd go somewhere away from all this."
Ciri: "Well after... after Uncle Vesemir died, Geralt didn't want to see Kaer Morhen crumble away. Lambert wasn't going to stay around, and Eskal couldn't do it all by himself."
Me: "I see."
I sighed and looked around at the cave.
Me: "Let's collect the bounty from the werewolf then we can go."
