Interview Corner !
The Sleeping Princess. OO2 :
The Author's Tale

Author: Harrypotter195604
Book: The Sleeping Princess
Genre: Fanfic

For the month of July I had the opportunity to interview another underrated author. I’ve read the story as it was ongoing; the chapters were phenomenal I must say. Without further rambling here’s my interview with this talented author where my input is also inserted. Hope you all enjoy.

Q: How did you come up with the title: The Sleeping Princess?
H: I usually just use the first idea that comes in my mind or something that sums up the story.
C: I think most authors do the same.

Q: How did you come up with the idea of this book?
H: I just get ideas from prompts or I read a story and decide to write with Harry Potter characters like 'The Sleeping Princess' and 'Ron And Harry Go To Leaky Cauldron'. I got the idea for my latest story 'Harry-Dementor' from a story I read where dementors raised Harry.
C: Dementors raise Harry? That sounds interesting. I’ll have to read your latest book. It peaks my interest.

Q: What ways did you prepare for each chapter; did you write/type down notes or small ideas?
H: First I write down how I want the story to start and the end. Then I write what certain characters role in the story should be. Then I write down jokes and dialogues in my phone notes and then I start structuring my story and how to get from the start to the end then divide it into chapters of more than 2k words and less than 6k words. I publish my stories only when I know how to reach the end of the story to avoid writers block and abandoning the story.
C: Now that’s something new. I like your thinking; usually I use my notes, first with my description. Then I do my title, characters, notes for each chapter. Lastly I go from there and build on with each chapter.

Q: How long does it take you to do a chapter?
H: It usually takes me about 2 to 3 hours to plan out a chapter.
C: How in the world? I must know your secrets. It takes me hours and hours to write a chapter. I have to proofread it like a hundred times and still I add or delete things out of it. Which is why it takes me hours upon hours to do.

Q: How long does it take you to write a book?
H: It takes me 2 months to write a story. Half of a month goes to just planning stuff and the rest is writing.
C: That’s actually reasonable. Some others that around that time frame to write a book. A few take longer.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
H: So the year was 2020 and the world was shut down. I had nothing to do and so I decided to read the Harry Potter books. And because I liked them so much I followed a few memepages of Hp on Instagram. There were many people who used to talk about fanfiction on wattpad so I decided to check it out. And one day I got the idea of writing my own fanfiction. It was a time travel fic. I started it but I didn't plan it out. I then decided to delete it as I really got annoyed at the lack of direction in my mind. Then I watched an old comedy movie and just couldn't stop comparing the characters to Hp characters and decided to give it a shot and I wrote my first complete story 'Ron And Harry Go To Leaky Cauldron' and the rest is history.
C: Well, I’m glad you decided to start writing your books are amazing. I started out with poetry when I was a child. High school I branched to writing books.

Q: What is your real-life work schedule like when writing?
H: I daydream a lot about Hp and I'm obsessed with it. My sleep schedule is really messed up due to this. I start writing at 11pm after my parents go to bed to about 5am in the morning. The only way it affects my work schedule is that I'm really tired and sleepy during the day.

C: Everyone has their own writing schedules. Mine is in between work, parenting, and college classes. Where ever I have the time is when I write. Whatever works for you do it; however, my advice… Make sure you get enough sleep. To write you must be healthy.

Q: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
H: I get my information from the website Wizarding World and Harry potter wiki. My ideas are from other stories but with my own twist and prompts.

Q: What are your favorite books to read?
H: My favourite books to read are Harry Potter books, Percy Jackson (I haven't read the heroes books), Hunger games and from horror genre I've read mostly goosebumps books and Stephen King's books.
C: I love Harry Potter books. I most definitely love Stephen King books thanks to my father. But I also dabble in small town romance; Jessica Prince is one of my favorites.

Q: When did you write your first book and how old were you?
H: I wrote my first in January 2022, I was 17.
C: High school seems to be everyone jump on writing. Which is awesome yet funny in a way.

Q: What might your next book be about?
H: My next book might be about Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley in a manipulated world where Voldemort never died.
C: I like the sound of that description. If you write you; you’ll have to let me know so I can read it. ❤️

Q: What do you like to do when you're not writing?
H: I like to watch movies and TV shows and go swimming on weekends with my brothers.
C: Typical teenagers. Hah. That’s what my brothers do; if it’s not out practicing baseball or some sports. I like to be outside when I’m not writing. Nature is like my second home; I paint, draw, read, etc in the forest, the lake, etc.

Q: How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
H: I've written 10 books and and my favourite among them is Raised Better as I venture into the life of Vernon Dursley who was never prejudiced against the wizarding world. This story is my best received story with the most views and votes.
C: That’s great that your favorite is your best received book. My favorite one of mine I written isn’t my most read book or most voted book. It’s gotten a lot of positive comments etc.

Q: What do you think makes a good story?
H: What makes a story good is research, accurate information, focus and love for the characters you write about. The ability to believe that the story could be real also helps.
C: That’s a great answer. I and most people I’ve interviewed agree with research. Research goes a long way when writing a book.

Q: As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
H: As a child I wanted to go to the army, but I was too interested in science subjects and decided to pursue a career in medicine. Being a paid author is not something I plan to do anytime in the near future but it's a career I won't shy away from if given the opportunity.
C: I think everyone’s had several things they wanted to be when they ‘grew’ up. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was four to a dancer when I was five. But as I grew so did my career choices. For the longest time, I wanted to be an artist like Vincent Van Gogh; I ain’t no Van Gogh. Haha. As long as you follow your dreams and heart I’m sure you’ll have the career you have always wanted. ❤️

Q: How many hours a day do you write?

H: I usually write for 3 to 6 hours every day (I take breaks in between). I do this just so I can update my stories regularly.
C: Goodness, I was worried you meant 6 hours straight. I was about to ask how can you sit that long? What’s your secret for an A.D.D author?! Haha.

Q: What did you edit out of this book? “The Sleeping Princess?”
H: I edited a chess board scene and replaced it with the chess pieces fighting with the main characters to the death. And I mostly edited out Peter Pettigrew's character.
C: Oh, that’s sounded interesting. So, do you hide Easter eggs in your books that only certain people will find?
H: I hide a few easter eggs and tease the end in the start of my books.
C: I knew it. You just gave the vibe off as you leave little eggs in your books.

Q: Do you believe in writer’s block?
H: I believe in writer's block and have suffered from it during my early books. It is the worst thing that can happen to a writer. My story 'Hogwarts Biggest Prank War' ended abruptly with a bad ending because I got a writer's block.
C: I still get writer’s block if I’m being honest. Even the best authors have struggled with writer’s block. One of my favorite authors said to get over writer’s block; she would make a new project. Whenever it hit, she’d switch over to her new project and write a chapter(s) in her new project. Her advice made sense so I tried it. It works, I mean I still get writer’s block obviously considering I ended with three new projects but it actually helps me.

Q: What is your favorite childhood book?
H: My favourite childhood books are matilda and Charlie and the chocolate factory.
C: Not going to lie I love both those books. My first favorite childhood book is…. I’d grab my brother’s anime book; a certain on and read it. Because of that I ended up loving anime. My brother still teases me over sneaking into his room and rummaging his shelf for that one anime.

Q: Do you have a favorite movie?
H: My favourite movie is interstellar, tangled and The Prisoner of Azkaban.
C: That’s a unique mix. Mine is clique but it’s A Walk To Remember. I read the book and loved it. They came out with the movie so I watched it. It immediately became my favorite movie along with LOL. (it’s a Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore movie) Anything I tell my mom I want to watch ‘our movie’ she tells me put it on! That movie is like how my mom and I were when I was a teenager. It’s a beautiful movie I think. But, again that’s my personal opinion. Haha.

Q: Who’s your favorite Harry Potter character?
H: My favourite Harry Potter is Ron Weasley. I relate to him as a foodie and someone who is mostly ignored by his family and being the youngest son. I have a fictional crush on Ginny Weasley and I hate it when people bash these two wonderful characters.
C: Oh! I love your reasonings behind your choices. Mine will always be Professor Snape. Something about a dark and mysterious character that always peaks my interest. Snape just happened to be that character for me. He’s a character that’s for sure. He doesn’t let his emotions show; but with his tears you saw it all. You could understand him a lot better in the end. I am still mad he dies but he is my favorite one. Off topic, Alan Rickman (Rest In Peace his beautiful soul) was the best choice in the movies to play Snape. He was a phenomenal actor.

C: Any questions or comments you would like to ask or make before I end this interview?
H: No. I don’t believe so.
C: It was a pleasure to meet and interview you. I can’t wait to read more of your lovely work.
