Hufflepuff No. OO2 :
The Not So Normal Day
The True family has never known a 'normal' day, not since the birth of the 'Hufflepuff Triplets'. Having Triplets is in itself a sure fire way of never a normal life, but three Triplets, all witches and wizards? 'Normal' has never, and will never be an option. Now for their parents, it was a loss worth while, but even they can't help but to look back and soak in the quiet peace that used to be. For the triplets themselves? Well they have never known the notion of 'normal' and therefore couldn't care less about it.
Ismeralda takes it a step further, however. She detested the word and all it stands for. She wasn't normal, and she didn't want to be. In her eyes, normal was being like everyone else and having life being quiet and simple. She loved being different with her flamingo pink eyes, her face full of freckles, her love for school and learning, her respect for the teachers, and her love for pranks, she loved life loud and chaotic, always changing and not simple once so ever, life, in her opinion, was supposed to be everyday a separate all new adventure. She hated 'normal' with a passion, and always would. But she knew better than to say all of this when she was asked, 'what's a normal day for you?' so instead she would simply pick a random day and tell it. And when the person would clarify they meant 'normal', she would simply say that for her, normal didn't exist. Her favorite story to tell however, when asked to tell a 'normal' day, is August 12th, her first summer back from Hogwarts.

The sun shines down onto a two-story brick house, deceivingly quiet and normal in its appearance. The yard sloping into the woods that took up most of their city. Birds chirp a good morning song, in hopes of waking the sleepy people of Dewpoint. But their songs are interrupted by a loud scream, the sound emitting from the kitchen of the brick house. "ISMERALDA GET YOUR BUTT UP RIGHT THIS SECOND!"
Up in her bedroom, Ismeralda Vandiyila True lay silently in her bed, stifling quiet chuckles. She didn't often get up early, hating mornings with a fiery passion, but when she did it was usually for a good reason. Playing a prank on their father.
This particular prank she had set up in the dead of night, knowing full well her dad would be the one to find it. It's not her fault he has the most hilarious reactions!
"ISMERALDA! I KNOW YOU'RE AWAKE YOUNG LADY!" She couldn't hold it in anymore, she burst out laughing. She made a mental note to thank the Weasley twins for letting her borrow that enchanted cockroach toy. They had guaranteed that it would be an amazing prank, and they were right. She calmed down some and got out of bed, thankful that she had gotten ready for the day an hour ago.
She took her time climbing down the stairs, knowing full well that a prank like this one wouldn't go unpunished. It was totally worth it though, to see her Dad covered head to toe in coffee grounds. "Yes Dad?" She said, blinking innocently, she liked to think that she had mastered the innocent-as-can-be-look. Though it didn't really matter, as her family could see right through her act.
"Ismeralda Vandiyila True you are in big trouble young lady! What have me and your mother said time and time again about your pranks! They're fine to do as long as you don't overdo it! I don't know about you mother, but I'm pretty sure putting a COCKROACH TOY that multiplies in my coffee is overdoing it! Look at how much is wasted now! You are going to clean all this up and then report to me and your mother for your punishment!"
She wanted to point out that the prank, while hilarious, was by far her most tame one she has ever done. But she knew her mother would point it out for her, and that her father probably wouldn't appreciate her saying that. So instead she simply said, "Yes sir." And began cleaning the kitchen.
After a few minutes, her twins climbed down the stairs, sighing as they looked at the mess. Zendaya walked over to the table and simply sat down, while Ashton walked over and started helping her.
"What prank was it this time?" He asked, holding the dustpan as she swept a freshly made pile into it.
"I used that multiplying cockroach the Weasleys gave me, and it worked amazingly." She giggled, taking the now full dustpan from her brother and throwing the contents into the trash.
"Huh, I honestly thought you went bigger."
"I thought about it, but decided to test it first on its own before doing my full prank." Ash simply gave a chuckle at this, softly shaking his head.
"And what is that going to be?" Zendaya chipped in, tilting her head.
"You'll see!" She said, laughing to herself. In truth, she only had half of the prank figured out, but she was hoping a trip to the woods would fix that.
It only took a few minutes more for them to finish cleaning, having talked most of the time away.
"Ismeralda! Are you done yet?" Their Mom's voice drifted down from the hall, and Ismeralda sighed.
"Time to see what extra chore I'll get today..." She said putting the last of the cleaning supplies away under the sink. Giving a dramatic salute to Ashton and Zendaya, she took her leave.
"You know if you would hold back on the pranks, extra chores wouldn't be a problem!" Her brother called after her, but she simply let the comment fall of deaf ears. Holding back on pranks was like not breathing! Or not going back to Hogwarts and learning all there was to learn! Simply impossible!
It took a long time, and a long lecture, but eventually she ended up having to de-gnome the backyard, which wasn't a problem as she loved to de-gnome. She was always able to convince Zendaya and Ashton to join her, then they would have a competition on who could throw them higher and further. Not exactly an original idea, but why mess with a classic?
But she never got a chance to call her sibling to the yard, for as soon as she exited the house, something in the woods caught her eyes. A Clabbert hung from a tree, staring at her, its large pustule dull and at the moment not glowing. She took in its mottled green skin, and its monkey-like appearance.
She had never seen a Clabbert in the woods before, let alone one so close to their house. She knew all there was to know about the small area of woods her parents would allow her to roam, and no Clabberts lived there. Did some just move in? What did a Clabbert home look like?
Curiosity got the better of her, and she forgot all about de-gnoming the yard. She ran into the woods, her mind racing and her heart thumping in her chest. The Clabbert's pustule flashed a bright scarlet, and it ran off into the woods, giving a loud screech that echoed in her ears. "Wait! I won't hurt you." She cried, following the creature into the woods.
The Clabbert swung through the trees with practiced ease, its long arms being of good use. She ran after it, hopping over tree roots and pushing through the low hanging branches. Her flamingo pink eyes trained on the Clabbert, doing her best to not lose it. "Come back!"
It seemed like forever she was running, her lungs started to burn as they did their best to pull in more and more oxygen. Her legs felt like flaming jelly, scorching and far too unstable. But she pushed on, not entirely sure why, why finding the Clabbert's home was so important. Why she kept pushing herself to the limit when she had to head back before she was missed. She knew it wasn't logical, to push herself this muh when she still had to run back, knew that she could alway just come back later and search the woods at a better time. It would be much more beneficial than what she was currently doing.
Yet she still ran, she ran until the Clabbert finally managed to dive through a thick bush and disappear so suddenly she for a moment wondered if it apperated. She looked around, trying to see how far from home she was, gasping for breath all the while. The sun was high in the sky, showing it was Noon, and the air had lost its morning chill.
At first glance, the woods looked the same throughout, and were easy to get lost in. It was all Oak trees, and the same looking jagged rocks. The flowers all looked fairly the same too, all bright and with sweet aroma. But Ismeralda knew better, she knew that magnolias only grew within the first few feet of entering, she knew that a few hundred feet to the left of the "Butterfly Rock" were Oaks the all wore faces. But what helped her not get lost the most were her markers, in neon pink paint she wrote "Isa was here" periodically, with the name of the spot, and an arrow down, that revealed a small buried box of compases and flashlights, (That was thanks to Ash, who felt better about her and Zen coming out here if he knew there was 'Emergency Packs' all throughout their portion of woods.)
And thankfully, while she honestly thought she had run past their Do-Not-Go-Past line, there on the bent and wrangled tree to her left was, "Isa Was Here: Wrangle Tangle Trees" She followed the arrow, digging up the box that lay beneath the tree, pulling out the map.
"Lets see..." She whispered to herself, glancing over the map. "I'm here at Wrangle Tangle...which is just right of Drought Dry...so I just need to go this way to head back home in the least amount of time!" She put the map back, burying the box once more. And started off, walking rather than running.
"I do wish I found that Clabbert home, it would have been awesome to see. But I guess I could always just look it up at home." She often did this, talking to herself, just another thing that made her so different from others. Talking to herself was a comfort that she had been doing for a very long time, far too long to remember when it started. Nor did she really know why it was a comfort, it just was, and that was that.
"I wonder if Ash and Zen would like to come out with me tomorrow to find it. I know Zen loves animals of all types, so surely she won't mind. And Ash doesn't really like us going this far by ourselves, so of course he will come. Hmm, may-" She stopped herself suddenly, and stopped walking, listening intently. A rustling sound came from beside her, and she slowly turned, looking for the culprit of the noise.
At first, she didn't see anything, the poor animal blending in with the bark and dead fallen leaves. Then once she did see it, it was so obvious that she wondered how she missed it at all. A small brown owl lay at the bottom of a tree, her wing bent at such an angle Ismeralda knew it couldn't be anything short of broken.
"Oh-no, you poor thing..." She bent down, watching as it hooted at her with wide frightened eyes. She didn't even take a second to think about it, she picked up the baby owl and instantly started for home, determined to bring it to health.

"And we still have the owl now! I named her "Brave Heart" since she was so brave!" Ismeralda sat back into her chair, smiling at the year younger boy that had asked her what a day for her was like.
"Wow! And that's supposed to be the most normal day?" Eric leaned forward with wide eyes that reflected the light in the Hufflepuff common room.
"Yep! The next day I ended up getting bit by a snake, and then the day after that Ash got lost in the market and met a rich muggle!" She giggled at the memories, before standing ready to head to bed for the night. "But now that I'm done telling the story, let's head to bed. I have to help Ash study for a test tomorrow."
"Oh, ok!" The boy then ran up the stairs to the boy dormitories. She slightly sighed, rolling her eyes. As much as she loved retelling stories, especially ones that happened to her. She wished she would stop being asked the same question over and over. Seriously, how many times does people have to ask her "What's a normal day for you?" Or "What's it like being a triplet, do you ever have a normal day?"
But, she supposed, if they stop asking she wouldn't have anyone to tell her about the time she broke all the windows in the house, or the time her and Ash made their father bald.
She gave a chuckle and climbed the stairs, ready to go to sleep.
