the mood for chaos.
"JO, YOU WILL not believe who just propositioned me," Kevin grins two nights later at the dance. The school really went all out, because there's fairy lights hanging from the ceiling, upbeat pop music playing, and a long table consisting of all kinds of food and nonalcoholic drinks. Josie ended up driving herself, because she didn't want Veronica to show up at her house since her mother had another one of her migraines. As soon as she arrived, Kevin pulled her onto the dance floor, practically beaming. "I'll give you a hint. His name may be Moose, but I'd describe a certain appendage of his as horse-like."
"That's way too much information," Josie frowns with wide eyes, but her curiosity quickly takes over. "So, are you gonna take him up on it?"
Kevin pretends to think it over for a second before he shrugs. "I mean, anything is possible..."
"Just be careful, Kev," Josie demands, gently patting him on the shoulder. "Him and Midge are dating, and I don't want you to get hurt."
"I won't-" Kevin trails off as Veronica prances over to them, looking as gorgeous as ever. She's wearing a short black dress that falls to her knees. She's paired it with a pair of black flats, and her hair is falling in tendrils around her shoulders. The outfit looks amazing next to Josie's very tight white dress.
"Hey, guys," Veronica greets, looking at Kevin questioningly. "Mind if I steal her for a dance?"
"Uh, sure," Kevin deadpans, taking a step away from Josie. Veronica then grabs Josie's hand and pulls her into the middle of the dance floor to dance to one of Josie McCoy's songs. Kevin watches them go, feeling his heart warm at the sight of his best friend hanging out with the new girl. "I kinda ship it."
"You look really pretty," Veronica admits, putting her hands on Josie's waist carefully. Josie rests her hands on Veronica's small shoulders, looking the raven haired girl up and down.
"So do you," Josie smiles before she looks past Veronica to see Cheryl, a devious smirk on the redhead's lips. Josie's stomach does a flop, knowing that Cheryl is up to something. But right now, she doesn't wanna focus on Cheryl, she wants to focus on the gorgeous girl she's dancing with. So she turns back to Veronica, not knowing how much she'll regret it later tonight.
Cheryl's smirk only widens, because she knows Josie had seen her. She then turns to her minions, discreetly pointing at Betty, Archie, Josie, and Veronica. "Make sure those four turtle doves come to my after-party. I'm in the mood for chaos."

"It's game time at Chez Blossom, kiddies. We're going old-school tonight. Seven Minutes in Heaven," Cheryl quips an hour later once her, Josie, Archie, Betty, Veronica, and several other people from school have gathered at the Blossom's mansion. "Who wants to tryst in the Closet of Love first? My vote is A for Archie. Anyone care to second it?"
A football named Reggie chuckles, only encouraging Cheryl's actions. "All right. Gather round, kids. Let's see who's riding the ginger stallion tonight."
Cheryl then sets an empty beer bottle on the table in front of her, spinning it. Everybody watches anxiously as the bottle spins, landing between Josie and Veronica. Veronica sits with her legs in Josie's lap, and once they notice it between them, the pair freeze.
"Oh, no way!" Reggie laughs as Archie glances at them, knowing that if him and Josie go into the closet, they'd probably laugh about what happened. But he doesn't know what could happen with Veronica. He just knows that Josie has taken a liking to Veronica in the short time she's known her.
"It's clearing pointing to the new girl," Cheryl decides, clicking her tongue. "This should be fun."
"Um... I'm not doing this," Veronica shakes her head, not wanting to hurt Betty or ruin her chances of having any type of relationship that's more than with Josie. She's only known the girl for a short while, but she can't help but not like her.
"That's up to you," Cheryl sighs, moving so she's sitting down on the couch. "But, if you don't, house rules decree the hostess gets to take your turn."
Josie rolls her eyes, knowing it'll be a lot worse for Betty if Cheryl goes into the closet instead of Veronica. So she puts her own budding feelings for Veronica aside. "Go, Ronnie."
Veronica purses her lips, looking at Josie apologetically before she follows Archie into the closet. The door slams behind them, and after a moment, Betty flees the room, tears shining in her eyes. Josie rises to her feet to follow the Cooper girl, but then Kevin wraps his hand around her wrist firmly. "Jo, don't. She needs to be alone right now."
Despite every ounce of her being telling her that Kevin's wrong, Josie falls back onto the couch, letting Betty run into the night. She then sips her drink, wanting nothing more than the next seven minutes to pass. And after what feels like an eternity, they do.
Veronica and Archie both look shameful, like they'd done something wrong. And when Josie squints at Veronica, she realizes that the girl's pink lipstick is smudged. She knows it wasn't before, so it's not hard for her to infer that Veronica and Archie did more than talk in that closet. Veronica searches the room, her eyes widening once she realizes that Betty is gone. "Where's Betty?"
"She spiraled and fled," Cheryl shrugs, glad that she had caused the chaos she was so desperately craving. "Between us, she's a lot more high-strung than she looks."
"You shady bitch," Veronica hisses before turning on her heel and fleeing the room. Archie follows her, but Josie stays put, a smirk finding its way to her face.
"I wanna go next."
