The day was like any other, the sun was shining and the land of the Fae Folk was busy as per usual. Except the castle was not at rest. Six guards flanked Prince Arkyn Rompier as he re-entered the castle walls. His head was down and his face red with embarrassment and shame, his hood covering it. Roland watched from his balcony, foot tapping. He was absolutely livid, but when thirteen year old Arkyn walked into his mother and father's bedroom, Roland didn't yell.
"Where," Roland hissed, "were you?"
"I'm sorry-" Arkyn tried to say.
"No." Roland held a hand up to stop him - not to hit him, never to hit him, but Arkyn flinched anyways - "Where were you?"
"In the town. I swear I didn't do anything! I wanted to see the castle through their eyes- I wanted to see life through their eyes! Father, Mama, I'm so sorry!"
"Don't beg!" Roland scolded. "You had us worried sick. With your sister being gone with your Uncle and Aunt, I would have hoped you'd be here when she returned home today with your cousin, Pollux."
Arkyn frowned and sighed. "Aunt Rebekkah and Auntie Harriett gave me the cloak..."
"Arkyn, this is your wrong doing, not their's!" Roland frowned, but turned to the twins. "We'll have a chat about this later."
As the day broke, Morrigan sat by the window with her tea and smiled. They'd been coming and going from Gael's hold manor, but now had a place of their own in Ubrary. A three story cottage that was more of a tight space than it sounded, by the sea and a mile or two from Neil and Alarik's home. Morrigan had figured Nadia would need a home before she set sail on a long trip - she'd been out at sea before but not like the rest have. Now that she was thirteen, she figured a month-three month trip at sea was exactly what Nadia would need to break the ice and become a pirate like the rest of them. Morrigan just wanted her to know of her many homes - home with Uncles Neil and Alarik, home with Aunts Nico and Vënus, home with Auntie Lucienne, home with Aunt Edlynne, and home with Uncles Merlin and Blair- wherever they are. She'd heard of their disappearance when it comes to Dorian and she merely wished them well. She had no desire to find them - they weren't her little boys in need of guidance anymore.
"Ma!" Avalon called from the first floor. "Breakfast is ready!"
"I'm coming!" Morrigan called back.
The sun was much brighter in Ubrary than Merlin liked it, but he stayed here anyways. He had been going back and forth from country to country looking for his son, stopping in the city of Mandalay to check on Indigo every few months. Now that she was going back to Chiadan, Merlin was free to devote his time looking for his son. He had asked Blair to join him and gave him the option to leave whenever. All he knew was that he was not going home until Dorian was found. Even after thirteen years, Merlin searched.
