Chapter 4
Percy POV
He yawned as his alarm clock went off at six in the morning.
Percy didn't feel like getting up, his memories from yesterday making him groan.
Sure, she seemed nice. But she didn't look like the one for Percy.
He knew he shouldn't judge by her looks, but he had to.
He quickly got up, and rushed to take a shower.
After he dressed, he went out of the room, still spotting Jason and Frank at his door.
"Do you guys ever leave this spot?" Percy looked left and right, looking at Jason and Frank.
When he didn't hear a response, he peeked into Jason's helmet.
Jason's eyes were closed, and a small snore escaped.
Percy laughed quietly before peeking into Frank's helmet too. He was also sleeping.
Percy smirked at the idea that popped into his head.
"Guys! AN ATTACK! Run! Protect the Prince!" Percy yelled, stomping onto the floor, to mimic the sound of people running.
Frank and Jason jumped up, taking out their swords, looking frantically around the room.
"Who goes there!? Protect Percy!" Jason yelled and ran into Percy's closed room doors.
He fell onto the floor, groaning.
Frank dropped his sword, and looked at Percy, who was laughing his butt off.
"Not cool man. Not cool." Jason groaned, taking off his helmet and rubbed his temples.
"Looked cool to me." Percy laughed, falling onto the floor, next to Jason.
"Immature human beings." Frank grumbled.
After Percy's laughs subsided, he quickly got up and helped hauled Jason off the floor.
"But seriously. Do you guys ever leave this exact spot in the night?" Percy asked.
"Our job was to protect your doors when you fall asleep inside your room. Then after you leave, we have other jobs to do. No rest. But at least there is lunch break." Jason shrugged.
"I could use a lunch break right now." Frank grumbled.
Percy furrowed his eyebrows, concerned about his two best friends.
"Get some rest. I'm relieving you from your duty for today to rest." Percy ordered.
"But, Percy, the king-" Frank started.
"I am your Prince. Now go to your rooms and sleep. If anyone asks you, then tell them I told you to rest. Bring them to me if they don't believe you." Percy said, walking off down the hall, leaving two dumbstruck idiots.
Percy walked to the meeting room, grabbing a coffee from a maid, then sat down in his usual spot. He was the earliest from the others, and he started spinning in his chair.
When the meeting room got flooded with people, Percy sat up straight, putting down his coffee.
"Ehem. Attention everyone." The King, Poseidon, said, getting everyone's attention.
As the meeting began, Percy got lost in his thoughts.
How will Rachel treat him? Is she spoiled like other girls? Will she be different?
As the topic turned into war strategies, Ares began yelling. Everyone called him 'The God of War' and Percy could see why. Whenever they talked about war, Ares was always the one yelling and talking about blood.
After the meeting finished, Percy rushed to his room.
When Percy entered his room, he went to his dresser, and pulled out a drawer.
There laid a wig, blonde short hair. Along with it were a pair of khaki shorts and a Caribbean blue t-shirt.
Percy quickly changed into the clothes, then put on the wig. He didn't want to change his eye color, he loved it too much.
He peeked from the door of his room, before quickly walking through the palace.
She looked down from each hall, not wanting to get caught.
Eventually, Percy made it to the garden. He rushed into the garden house. It was lunch break, and all the gardeners were enjoying lunch.
Percy took off a painting of his father, opening the hatch in the wall.
He slid through the hatch, then put the painting of his father back onto the hole.
It was a secret tunnel Percy explored when he was little, calling it the labyrinth. He picked up a torch, and lit it with the match he left on the floor a few weeks before.
Using the torch as his light source, he walked through the tunnels, until finding the right door to his freedom.
He blew out the torch and put it on the floor. He pushed open the door, and found himself in an alley.
He closed the door, that was camouflaging with the wall.
Percy walked out, and looked at the bustling people of his kingdom. He smiled wide, looking at the colorful city in front of him.
Stores at every corner, people walking on the streets, and loads of talking.
Percy walked with the people on the streets, watching everything happen.
Until suddenly, a girl wearing a light red dress passed by, with a sea green pouch. She accidentally pushed through his shoulder, her blonde princess curls bouncing.
"Sorry!" She said, not looking at the person she just hit.
But she dropped something. Five Crete dollars dropped out of her pouch, and Percy's eyes widened. She lost her five Crete dollars! He has to return it to her.
The girl was smiling when she entered the Library of Crete, and Percy quickly followed behind her.
People shoved Percy sometimes, grunting.
When he made it to the door of the library, he quickly got in. He scanned the room, but coldn't find the girl.
He looked at the lady who was at the desk, and ran up to her.
"Excuse me ma'am, have you seen a girl with a short red dress, with long blonde hair?" He asked.
"Of course. Do you know her?" The lady asked.
"Oh, no. She dropped something and I was going to return it to her." Percy explained.
"Alright then. She's by the window in the back. She's sitting on a bean bag." The lady pointed towards the back of the library.
"Thank you ma'am." Percy smiled and walked to the back.
He spotted the girl reading a book, but stacks of books were in front of her. Her blonde curls were blocking her face.
Percy grinned, and walked up to her.
The girl didn't notice him at first, but after Percy cleared his throat, she looked up.
"Um, can I help you?" The girl asked nervously, putting her book down.
"Hi, I spotted you in the streets, and well, you dropped this." Percy showed the girl the five dollar bill.
The girls gray eyes widened and quickly face palmed.
"I am so sorry. I am always losing things." The girl sighed, taking the five dollars and placing it in her pouch.
"It's fine." Percy smiled.
"How can I repay you? I don't have much but-"
"Oh, no need for that. It's fine, I promise. You were in quiet a hurry here though." He said, sitting onto a chair that was across the table from the girl.
"The library is everything to me. Reading is quite relaxing. Do you read?" She asked, her gray eyes glittering.
"Time to time. I'm always busy." He sighed.
"Same. I only have limited time here before I have to go back to wor- home." The girl quickly corrected herself.
"So, how do you like it here in Crete?" He asked, curious to what his people think.
"It's quite wonderful. The sea is the best part. I never got to visit it, but I get a peek of it whenever I am around town." The girl sighed.
"My favorite place is the sea as well." Percy smiled.
"Live here with family?" The girl asked.
"Yeah. But were always working. What about you?" He frowned a little before returning into a smile.
"I live with my step mother and my two little step brothers. My father is always out on business trips, rarely ever see him." Percy could have sworn he saw here eyes tear up a bit, before returning to normal.
"I'm sorry." Percy frowned.
"It's okay." The girl sighed.
He continued to talk to the girl, making her laugh from his stupid jokes to talking about Crete. They acted as if they were old friends. Percy enjoyed their time, but the time ended short.
The girl looked at the clock on the wall, her eyes widening.
"Oh gosh. I have to go." The girl began gathering her things, and got up to return her books.
Percy helped her put the books back on the shelf, and they walked together towards the door.
"I hope I can see you again here." He said, smiling at the girl.
"I'll try to come here tomorrow." The girl smiled as she exited the library.
"Wait! What's your name?" He quickly yelled.
"Annabeth. Annabeth Chase." She smiled and disappeared with the crowd.
Annabeth Chase. What a beautiful name. Percy thought.
"A kind one that one. Don't lose her." The lady at the desk said, smiling at Percy.
"I won't." Percy whispered and walked out the library.
He made his way back to the alley, and entered through the door.
He couldn't think straight.
All he could think about was Annabeth.
Her stormy gray eyes.
Her blonde princess curls.
Her amazing smile.
Her amazing laugh.
He has to control himself.
Or things would get pretty messed up.
