Chapter 2

Percy POV

Percy wasn't ready for what his dad wanted to talk to him about.

When Percy's alarm went off, all Percy could think of was work. Being the up coming King of Crete, Percy was unsure.

Percy groaned as he left the warmness of his bed. He yawned slightly as he walked off to the bathroom.

Percy never wanted maids. He felt as if they weren't treated fairly. So he asked his father not to give him any.

Percy started at his reflection. His messy untamed hair going in all directions, and dark circles under his eyes. He had a busy day yesterday. Checking with the kingdom, making war plans, discussing matters about 'An Arranged Marriage'. Percy didn't want to marry someone he didn't know. He wouldn't know anything about this person. Who knows, the girl might be a person to pick her nose, or worse, wastes all of the money to pay for jewelry.

Percy wanted a normal girl. A girl who was intelligent, and has a great personality. Who didn't care about make-up, or gold. Who wore normal clothes, and didn't wear fancy dresses.

But he didn't know any woman who fit that description.

Percy sighed, and washed himself up.

Percy came out of the bathroom and put on a black suit. He added a sea green tie, to match his eyes.

Percy didn't even try to brush his hair, knowing it would always be a mess.

Percy opened the door of his room, to find his two guards doing their job.

"Good morning Jason. Good morning Frank." Percy greeted.

"Good morning Prince Perseus." Jason greeted.

"I told you not to call me that." Percy groaned.

"We know. But it's fun to tease you." Frank smirked.

"Why am I friends with you guys again?" Percy asked.

"Because we are your only friends, Percy." Jason snickered.

"Right." Percy rolled his eyes and walked down towards the main hall.

As Percy entered the ball room, his parents were already seated onto their thrones.

Three guests were seated in front of their thrones, discussing something. But they grew quiet when Percy entered the room.

Poseidon's eyes were flaring. Percy knew he was late.

"Good morning everybody." Percy sat onto his small throne, next to his fathers.

"Prince Perseus, you are a bit late." Poseidon cocked an eyebrow.

"Sorry." Percy quickly replies, but looked down at the three guests in front of him.

There was a man and woman, with a young lady. The man was wearing a suit, and the woman was wearing a black dress with white sparkles sprinkled onto the skirt part.

There was a younger lady, probably a bit younger than Percy, who was wearing a light green dress. She had frizzy red hair, and green emerald eyes.

"So, King Poseidon, we need Prince Perseus to sign this contract, completing the arranged marriage." The man said, pointing at a paper that was on the table.

"Wait, I have to seal my fate to this lady?" Percy asked, shocked.

The girl looked offended, but quickly recovered.

"Percy! Manners." Sally whispered angrily.

Percy groaned as he got off his throne and picked up the pen that was on the table.

The girl already signed her name. Rachel Elizabeth Dare.

Fine, Percy thought, I'll give her a shot. It's not like I have any other choice.

Percy quickly signed his name, his eyebrow furrowed.

"There." Percy sighed.

"Great! Rachel will begin grabbing her things and quickly move in next week." The man stood up with his family, and exited the room.

After they left, Percy turned to his parents.

"You are late! I told you not to be late." Poseidon glared at Percy.

"Sorry dad. Just a bit tired from yesterday." Percy sighed,

"Now go finish your duties. You are to be king next year with a queen by your side. Try to be better, Percy." Percy's dad got up and left to the meeting room.

"Don't worry about him. He's just grumpy this morning." Sally rolled her eyes.

"I left blue cookies onto the plate in the kitchen with Hestia. You should do see her." Sally smiled and got off her throne.

"Thanks mom." Percy smiled then ran out of the ball room. He rushed down into the kitchen, smelling the deliciousness of blue cookies.

"Good morning Percy! I heard about this morning. How did it go?" Hestia greeted as Percy rushed to the plate of blue cookies.

"Just a red head who is going to be my wife next year. Totally great." Percy said as he stuffed his mouth with cookies.

"Perseus Achilles Jackson. You put that blue cookie down and talk to me." Hestia snapped.

Percy groaned and put the cookie down.

"Okaph, pho, phif wfred head-"

"Don't talk with your mouth open." Hestia laughed.

Percy swallowed down his cookies. "Okay, I had to sign a contract to seal the deal."

"Thoughts?" Hestia asked.

"How am I supposed to marry a girl I barely now? And don't even get me started when people start asking for kids." Percy rubbed his temples.

"Feelings?"

"Unsure. She doesn't seem to be a bratty girl. But I want freedom in my life. To marry someone I actually love. Not a complete stranger."

"I'm sorry Percy, I know it's hard for you. But you'll just have to warm up to her." Hestia sighed.

"Hestia! Tyson is eating the cake!" A woman yelled from another side of the kitchen.

"Coming!" Hestia yelled back.

Percy chuckled. "Here, I'll help get Tyson out of the kitchen."

"Thanks Percy." Hestia was grateful.

They went to the next side of the kitchen, to find Tyson taking a hand chunk of the cake for dessert.

"Tyson! Buddy! What are you doing?" Percy laughed at his eight year old brother.

"Brother! I was just eating. Was that wrong?" Tyson asked, confused.

"That cake is for dessert not breakfast. Come on." Percy held out his hand.

Tyson said a quick goodbye to the cake, then took Percy's hand.

"What did I say about eating from the kitchen? Only I can do that." Percy said, looking at Tyson.

"Sorry brother." Tyson looked at the floor, frowning.

"Hey, it's okay. Great brothers think alike." Percy smiled and nudged Tyson's shoulder.

Tyson looked up and smiled.

"Now, go play with Lily. She probably needs somebody to play with." Percy walked with Tyson towards the bedrooms.

"No! I can't play with Lily! She dresses me up as a princess and makes me have tea parties with her!" Tyson complained.

Percy laughed. "Try to tell Lily to play something new. She's only three. I'm sure you can come up with a new game that both of you will enjoy."

They stopped at Lily's room.

"Fine." Tyson grumbled and entered Lily's room.

Percy grinned and began walking to his own room. The next meeting was in an hour, so he had plenty enough time to think.

Percy entered his room, and walked to the balcony. He stared out at the kingdom of Crete, the busy kingdom walking around.

The sea was shimmering, and a breeze wept into Percy's face.

Percy always wondered how it felt to be one of the citizens. Not to worry about war, or going to meetings.

To be a normal kid.

Suddenly, Percy had a plan.

He could dress up in a disguise, to go looking around town. That way he could escape the castle.

Percy grinned at his idea, and continued citizen watching.

Tomorrow would be exploring day. In disguise.
