i saw you again last night.

we were on the beach. you were holding a stick of cotton candy and laughing while slowly running towards the ocean. you were wearing that pretty white floral dress i bought for you on your birthday.

and then you turned.

and i lost all sense.

your long dark hair was flying in your face but you didn't care. you were looking at me with that perfectperfectperfect smile on your face, your beautiful amber eyes beckoning me to come to you.

while i stood transfixed in my khaki shorts, staring at you as if i'd seen a ghost.

i finally moved after i was sure you weren't going to disappear anytime soon and walked towards you, slowly, taking each step with so much care and precaution because i knew exactly what was going to happen next and i was dreading it.

it happened every time.

when i was finally within hearing distance, it came to me. the sweet sound of your singing. you were humming some song i forgot the name of but turned around when you heard me come close.

you stopped singing and gave me your brightest smiles. and then you moved your hand towards me, palm up, asking me to take hold of it. like always.

and i couldn't stop.

i never stop.

i moved to put my hand in yours, but the moment we touched, the loud noise of a glass falling and shattering on the groud came from somewhere, it filled my ears and suddenly, you were falling too.

you were falling into a pit without any end and i fell on my knees shouting your name but i couldn't even hear my own voice because of the shattering glass. tears started falling from my eyes but you kept falling until you became barely a spot of white in the dark pit.

and that's when i woke up.

it always happened like this.

this has been my dream every night for the last 3 years.
