•Chapter 1•
"Hey, Duncan lets get going! You don't want to be late for school!" Anasia yelled, walking towards her small yellow Honda.
Duncan her 15 year old brother, rolled his eyes running downstairs. He was in year nine, had blonde hair, he hates talking— rather prefers to stay home all day and eat pizzas while playing video games or text Mary (his best friend and crush). Although Duncan sometimes has an attitude, Anasia loves him just as she loves margarita pizza freshly out of the oven.
When he finally got into the car, Anasia drove in comfortable silence, while Duncan was texting on his phone.
Mary: Where are you?
Duncan: On my way! I'll be there in a few.
Mary: Let me guess you were sending letters in the toilet again? How disturbing, you need help..
Duncan: Shut up, stop talking about my private business, just because I told you doesn't mean you can tease me! Just wait and see, I'll get you.
Mary: Ohh please, Mr. Always-pooing-before-school. *tongue and poop emoji*💩👅
Duncan: Please get that disgusting infected tongue of yours out of my whatsapp.
"What time should I pick you up today?" Anasia asked, making him look up from his phone.
"3 O'clock, I have soccer practice," he responded, while getting out of the car.
"I love you Dunny! Be a good boy," Ana teased him as she drove herself to school.
Thinking about her school brought bubbles to her stomach, of all things to feel; she felt bubbles, but what can she say? Anasia was pretty much bubbly, sometimes she felt too talkative even though she knew she had a very big mouth— literally.
Anaisa's life was very simple, she had a per time job at night in a local pub not too far from her house. Life wasn't easy there was school, her brother, bills, her best friend(who moved to study in Canada) food, wifi, her job, house rent.
And let's not even talk about her love life, it was a complete mess— none of her ex's lasted long, she was used to one month relationships, love wasn't her thing, she didn't even believe in love; I mean 'what is love?'
A complete waste of time! She thought.
Her parents met online— just as how she had tons of online friends— apparently her mother was an African, while her dad was American.
Their relationship didn't quite work out, her mother died of cancer a year after giving birth to Anasia, her dad re-married and died 12 years later, leaving Ana with nothing, after the death of her father; her so called step mother disappeared: probably wondering around in a mad house.
Ana's family or rather her life was a big fat fabulous mess. All she needed was money to make things better, at the moment her college fees where hanging on a thin line, her income was enough, but not good enough.
The thought of her life made her grimace, she seldom spoke about her life. Not eager to upset herself, she turned on the radio and hummed to the cheerful tune.
Ana finally came to a stop, parking her old rusty car at the parking lot. She made her way into her locker to grab a few things, then heading to class. As usual class was normal, exciting and normal again.
Today she was put to a test in baking a chocolate muffin, it was really easy because she had been practicing at home; the first time she tried baking it at home Duncan almost murdered his sister, she put too much of everything and made him clean up the mess she made. But luckily for him she made it up by giving him extra pocket money. Ana is such a pain in the butt!
Ana had just finished preparing Duncan's dinner— which was mashed potatoes and oven grilled chicken, nothing fancy; but for some odd reason it was her third favorite thing to eat.
Duncan was watching tv— trace urban to be exact, he loved music (especially music videos, it was just more satisfying).
Today was an amazing day for him, his crush; which was his best friend— Mary, she was his dream girl, chocolate brown eyes, jet black silky hair, and that smile that made him melt inside; but obviously he wouldn't show how he felt.
Duncan was used to keeping his emotions inside, there was no point in letting the whole world know how he felt, though at times he felt bad when he is being normal (in his weird mood), Mary would get offended, whilst he literally was just being himself.
The first day he met Mary was a his classmates' three year old Halloween party, Mary was new in town. She mistakenly poured her yogurt on Duncan and instead of apologizing she started laughing, then crying like a crazy creep.
The funniest thing was that she was dressed as a sponge, and for some odd reason she probably thought that she was the female version on "Sponge Bob". Remembering how she hugged him trying to clean him with her sponge costume brought a smile to his face.
"Hey! Duncan! bro! man! idiot!?" Ana yelled trying to get her brother's attention.
"Oh, um yes?" He replied, trying to act calm, "What do you want?"
"Just wanted to let you know that your dinner is in the microwave, you can eat right now or leave it till later, it's your choice. I'm on my way to work, so take care, bye Dunny bear!" She waved grabbing her keys and walking to the door.
What a spoilt brat!
Meanwhile..
A certain Kevin was thinking of what to do on that very lonely evening—since his good for nothing girlfriend was busy buying the whole of Paris. He really needed a break— though he didn't like going to public places, he was thinking of going out on his own (without his bodyguards).
His life was a perfect definition of boring life; you know, those people that don't even have lives. Even haters comment on his instagram for example — "get a life dork star," I mean, I know I'm a dork, but why make it public? He silently thought to himself.
People never cared about his true feelings, ever since his family died in a plane crash; life was pretty much horrible, in his point of view he lost everything except —music, it kept him sane.
He remembered how he heard the horrendous news of how his family died; it crushed him. It was on August 19, 2013; his mom, dad, sisters and his brother were traveling for his cousin's wedding.
Kevin was busy that day, so he was going to travel later that night, but everything was ruined. He missed his mother, her smile, her hugs, her voice, her food. He reminisced the family dinner parties, how his siblings would cause drama, those noisemakers where gone and he couldn't believe it.
Kevin's life was a routine, wake up, music, eat, music, work, music, party, music, music, sleep, repeat. At times he would want to do something different but there was nothing to do.
Kevin is currently sitting at a bar.
"I asked for another bottle of vodka five hours ago!" Kevin slurred at the gorgeous dark haired waitress as she rolled her chocolate yummy eyes at him. It wasn't even up to five minutes, she thought. Kevin tried to read her name which was written on her tag, but failed miserably. "Aha-nana hurry up!" He watched as she shook her head at him, her eyes where so captivating.
After placing the bottle of vodka on the table, Ana looked at the clock, apparently it was 8pm which meant her working time was up. She quickly called in Sam— he was now in charge of the night shift.
Little did Ana know that as she left for her apartment, Sam and Kevin were having their conversation. "Why is life sad?" Asked Kevin as he gulped a shot of vodka into his throat, feeling the burning sensation.
"Life isn't sad, you just have to find happiness," replied Sam as he cleaned the tables.
"God! Can I make a wish? I want things to go well in my life!" Kevin slurred. Sam looked at him through his thick glasses, this guy was probably depressed or insane, he started intensely at him before talking. "Why don't you go outside and make a wish to the stars? I'm sure it will come true," Sam said sarcastically.
Wishes obviously don't come true, or else everyone would be wishing for stupid things, he thought.
Kevin tried dragging himself out of the bar, even though he failed miserably Sam simply signed and turned his face around not caring if Kevin died on his way out, all Sam thought about was how a rockstar like Kevin was so depressed, he was probably a rich I-know-it-all, he knew for a fact that Kevin didn't have problems, who could have problems when they were filthy rich? He thought as he swept the now empty pub.
"Hello star," Kevin greeted, looking directly at the brightest star. "I've been meaning to talk to you, can you change my life? I'm tired of everything and everyone, I have no body! No one even remembered today was my birthday. Please star, I don't care how! Just change something," He sobbed dramatically, before falling asleep on the cold soft grass.
