Breaking Up
I grab my keys and unlock the door to the house, entering. I shut the door behind me and look around. I walk a bit and notice that Quackity is sitting down at the dining table by himself, but he's not eating or anything. He's sitting there in his own head thinking, slightly slouching. He immediately jolts up straight once he notices me. He says, "Oh- Bad! Hi- how did it go? ...Is Skeppy okay?"
"He's... alive. But he's in a coma for who knows how long."
"Oh..."
Quackity looks down as he says that, looking guilty. ...I guess he really did push Skeppy onto the road, huh? I say, "But I wanted to talk to you about something else."
Quackity quickly looks up at me and then says nervously, "W-what is it?"
"...Melody explained to me what happened, how Skeppy got run over, and what has happened between the both of you."
Quackity stares at me for a moment and then looks down in shame. After a moment of silence, I ask, "Did you really do it, Quackity? Did you push Skeppy onto the road and frame him back at the gathering?"
"...Yes."
Huh. He admitted it. I don't know what I was expecting, but I'm kinda surprised after knowing that Quackity's been lying to me. I then say, "I already heard from Melody why you did it, but I want to hear it from you."
Quackity gives a small sigh after a moment. He says, "I... was filled with worry and panic that if you and Skeppy continued to hang out and be so close to each other, then Skeppy would somehow manage to get us to break up and manipulate you so that you would... end up dating him."
"...So what you're saying is, you acted out of jealousy?"
Quackity gives a small wince at how bad it sounds from the way I worded it. But no matter how you word it, it still sounds pretty bad. He gives me a small nod, not looking at me. I give out a long sigh at that. I guess he really is coming out and admitting it all, huh? I say in a serious tone, "Quackity... I'm very disappointed with you, and I'm quite mad if I'm being honest. The feeling is not so strong right now, which is why I am able to not show it much right now, but the feeling will most likely get stronger later once the idea of what you did really sinks in. You know very well that that is no excuse for the way you acted. Skeppy never did anything wrong."
"...I know."
"...Then I guess you'll understand why I'm breaking up with you."
Quackity abruptly looks at me and says, "What?"
"You heard me right. I'm not going to be with someone who lets themselves be easily carried away with their negative emotions and hurt the people I care about."
I then start to quickly walk away. Quackity gets up, heading to me, and exclaims, "Wha- where are you going!?"
"To my room. I'm going to pack my things and leave."
"What- but- why so suddenly!?"
"I just broke up with you, so there's no more reason for me to keep living here. I'm packing my things and leaving as soon as possible."
"Bu- wait- Bad!"
Quackity grabs my arm to stop me from walking. I say, "What? What do you want?"
"Wha- where are you even going to go!? Where are you gonna stay at!? You don't own a house or anything!"
"I'll figure it out!"
"But- it's so late right now. Do you really think that you can just find a room at a hotel or apartment so suddenly like that!? Think rationally, Bad!"
I pause for a moment. That is true... It would be pretty hard to find a place to stay so late. It's turning dark out. It is going to be completely nighttime by the time I finish packing. After a moment of silence, Quackity says, "I understand that you want to go... but at least stay here for the night. You can leave in the day if you want, or even longer so that you can find a place to stay. Just please... be rational and don't just leave with no plan."
"...Fine. I'll stay for the night. But I'm leaving as soon as I can in the morning."
"...Okay. That's fine by me."
He lets me go, and I just continue walking to my room. I need to start packing my stuff.
-------------------------------------------------------------
It's morning, and I'm in my car driving with my load of stuff in the car. I packed as much as I could in the night, and when I woke up in the morning, I packed what little I had left to pack. Quackity helped me by giving me some extra boxes that he hadn't thrown out yet for me to pack my things in. I was planning to leave before breakfast, but Quackity begged me to at least have breakfast before leaving, so I obliged.
Currently, I'm not on my way to some hotel but instead am heading to the hospital where Skeppy is at. I didn't stay in his room for much time yesterday, so I feel like I need to be there for a longer time today. I need to be there for Skeppy right now. So once I arrive at the hospital, I check in as a visitor and head to Skeppy's room. Once I arrive, I am met once again with Melody sitting in a chair beside the hospital bed where Skeppy is lying in. She looks a bit better than yesterday, but she is still scarily serious. I quietly go and sit down on the chair beside Melody to watch Skeppy's unconscious body. After a moment of silence, I decide to speak. I say, "How's he doing?"
"As well as he can be considering his state right now."
"Was there... any other news from the doctors? Do they have an idea of when he will wake up?"
"They say that it might be between multiple weeks to a few months."
"That's... pretty good, right? At least it's not like a year or anything."
"I guess. But unfortunately, it's still too early to tell in his condition, as anything could go wrong at any moment right now if he's not taken care of properly."
"I see..."
Another moment of silence. Then Melody asks, "What did you do back at the house with Quackity?"
"I... got a final confirmation that he did indeed do all the things you told me. I also broke up with him and moved out of the house."
"Moved out?"
Melody turns to look at me with slight concern. She asks, "So suddenly? Do your parents live around here or something? Who are you going to live with? Surely you couldn't have gotten an apartment so soon, right?"
"Ah, no... my parents live out of the state. I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Quackity basically begged me to stay for the night as I was planning to already leave during the night, but he convinced me not to. So I left just a while ago. All my stuff is in my car right now. I haven't looked for an apartment yet, but I'm planning to. In the meantime, I think I'm just going to check in a hotel. Hopefully, there's a room available for multiple days."
Melody stays silent for a moment, processing my words. She then says, "You could... move in at Zak's place, if you want? As far as I know, your old room there is left untouched from how you left it before, as I'm currently staying in the extra room in the house."
"Really...? But, wouldn't that be troublesome for you?"
"Not at all. Plus... I'm pretty sure that Zak would want that. He's told me before how lonely it got in the period from when you moved out, and I hadn't moved in yet. Sadly, I'm going to have to go train in my residency after summer, and whether or not Zak wakes up by that time... he's going to need someone to be there for him."
I smile at her and say, "If that's the case, then I'll gladly move back into the house."
