Chapter 25

Flora POV

We had all decided to go to the Frutti Music Bar. We had only been a few times before as we were cautious of being recognised, even with the magic we could never be too careful, and we had to make sure Artu was nowhere nearby. He could recognise Roxy's scent almost instantly and would reveal us. We never usually interacted with Roxy's father, but if we had to only one of us would order the drinks. The last thing we wanted was for Rick to become involved in this again, what he doesn't know can't hurt him, right? Well, no, not really.

It was nice to get away from Bloom's house though. I put most of my belongings in my own home, except from a small bag with essentials. I was slowly starting to get dressed, do my laundry, and tidy up my own house. It was more of an excuse to get out, though. Maybe it is time to move back home? Or maybe we could all split in two?

As we walked through the streets, I could see that although they were talking as if everything was normal, the girls held anxious expressions on their faces. I decided it would be a better idea to bring up the whole home situation another time. Tensions were still running high, and I felt as though I was the only one able to relax which I never would have predicted. It was actually very peaceful for me - this was the most of a break I had ever gotten, and with every passing day my worries began to fade. I never fully relaxed, though.

We arrive at the bar, and there was a band I didn't recognise playing on stage. It was late afternoon, so the "party" music wasn't quite in full swing, but the bar was very busy. Roxy will be happy to see so many customers. It's great they've been this successful for so long.

Musa volunteers to get the drinks, and we all audibly hold our breath as she speaks to Rick. Come on Musa, come on Musa!

She says some things that we cannot hear, but she eventually comes back with a tray filled with seven smoothies, grinning from ear to ear, "he didn't suspect a thing!"

"I think we should all just relax now and trust that Miss Faragonda's spell has worked properly," I chuckle, speaking quietly.

"Okay, well, now that we can relax, we should talk about our living situation. I know you all feel safe at my house but it's getting a little cramped," Bloom says hesitantly, trying to see how we all feel about the situation. It was definitely hard to tell.

"We understand Bloom, if you want us to give you some space-" I begin.

"No! It's not that- well, a little bit, but I know we're all feeling cramped in some way or another, right?" She looks around and the rest of us nod.

"I admit that I do feel much more secure here on Earth than when we first arrived, but maybe it's better that we're not all completely alone. Maybe only a few people could stay in each house? I think we've all gotten quite tired of Bloom's house," Tecna suggests and we all laugh at her comment.

"Yeah, and we had another close call to using powers," Aisha raised her eyebrows, before sipping her smoothie, "but we don't talk about that."

"Yeah-" Bloom laughs nervously, "we definitely don't talk about that."

Stella, Aisha and I had stayed "home" for the day. Aisha and I decided to teach Stella how to properly cook without magic. Stella was resistant at first, but she slowly warmed to the idea of paying attention to what we were trying to teach her.

"Okay, now just watch that pot and tell us in about five minutes or so when it's done," I explain and hand her a wooden spoon, "make sure you stir it too."

She nods, clearly not happy about having to watch the pot for longer than a few seconds but she doesn't protest it. It's not long before Bloom and Roxy arrive home, with bags of shopping. Bloom calls for Stella, jokingly telling her that the shopping is all for her. The three of us gather around the girls and shopping bags, and they give us an in-depth description of everything they bought and how to use them. Most things we had never even seen before.

Aisha suddenly begins to cough, "what's that smell?"

The rest of us stop to smell the air and Bloom gasps, "fire!"

A loud beeping echoes through the house and something on the wall flashes bright red.

"What is that?" Stella shouts above the noise, covering her ears.

"It's a smoke alarm! There's a fire!" Roxy yells, the beeping continuing.

"What?" Stella uncovers her ears.

"I said it's a smoke alarm!"

I rush into the kitchen, seeing flames emerge from the pot that Stella was supposed to be watching and the other girls follow. Roxy immediately runs upstairs and the rest of us look up in confusion.

The flames grow, and Bloom, out of habit, stretches out her hands in front of her face. Aisha and I, out of panic, practically tackle her to the ground and hold down her arms. Stella seems to just panic and fall down with us, holding down Bloom's shoulders.

A little dramatic, yes, but we were all terrified.

Roxy steps over us and we hear a loud "whoosh" sound. I look up and she's holding a large red thing which she uses to put out the fire.

We all erupt into laughter, reminiscing on the fire and our dramatic reactions.

"I wish we could've seen that," Musa giggles and Tecna agrees.

"Hey, you know what, I think maybe we could split up a little bit now that it's been a while. The house is getting a little cramped, and we all seem to be comfortable enough," Bloom smiles.

We continue to discuss the housing situation and I stand up, "I'll get us more smoothies."

The girls nod and thank me, and Roxy gives me her card to pay. I get up and begin to walk over to the bar.

I stop.

"Winx?" I quietly say, too scared to move, desperately trying to get their attention.

They continue to chat and laugh loudly.

"Winx!" I say, much louder this time, and they stop.

They finally notice.

The entire bar had stopped. Everyone stared at us with dark lifeless eyes.

I held my breath, feeling the silence of the room.
