When the Darkness Seeps In: Chap 17

Amelia's POV

"You're lying to me. He wouldn't do that to me." My father gave me a look of pity, as he stared at me with his sea green eyes. The ones I had inherited from him.

"He wanted to be part of this pack! He wouldn't run unless you gave him a reason to." Derek was stroking his beard in the corner of the room just casually listening to our exchange.

"But how well do you know him? This could have been his plan the whole time." I shook my head refusing to hear this.

"I hate you." I whispered but I knew he heard me by the way my fathers face retorted. "I wish you weren't my father." And with that slap to the face I turned around and left the room. My mother was chewing on her nails outside of the office. I didn't say anything as I passed her to climb the stairs to my bedroom. I pulled out my suitcase and changed into a pair of jeans and my favourite baggy sweater.

I looked at my hand that had healed completely, there was no evidence that it even happened. I ran my fingers over the skin wishing I could feel the pain again. To know that I was real. I slipped on my boots and walked back down the stairs where Greg was waiting for me. "Going to school today?" He asked his face lined with concern.

"Yeah... But I want to see Kaden before I go."

"As your guard I would suggest that you stay home and rest since you've barely slept these last few days, but as your friend I would go and demand answers from Mr. Peters. I am sure your friends miss you." That was the kindest thing he'd ever said to me.

"I'm going to school today. I need to get away from here."

Greg nodded and left me to walk to the hospital so he could go get the car ready. It was the first day of December and it was welcomed with a light snow fall that begun to once again, cover the ground in a blanket of whiteness. I opened the door shivering from the cold. Emily greeted me with a smile nodding towards the door to his room.

I rushed into the room and a huge smile spread across my face. "Kaden!" I shouted launching myself into his bed. He groaned laughing slightly.

"Hello there." I nuzzled my face into his neck as he petted my hair.

"You almost died." I said quietly.

"Can't get rid of me that easily Winters." I closed my eyes a tear betraying me to slip down my cheek, "Don't cry Amelia, I'm okay."

"I just don't want to lose you." He chuckled softly.

"Was I in that bad of condition?" Images of blood gushing from his wounds were called to mind after he asked. How the blood had stained by hands.

I nodded, "You almost died." I told him again thinking of how if the Moon Goddess hadn't healed him he would've been dead.

"Trust me I'm not going anywhere." The smile that spread across his face was meant to show that he meant it and I believed him.

"Sebastian escaped last night." I looked up to see his eyebrows had furrowed.

"Why would he do that?" He asked making my stomach drop. My father's face came to mind but I too was worried that I may have been the cause once again.

"My father was going to execute him for treason. So he took his opportunity to run... but my father told me he ran back to his old pack..." I still did not want to believe it, but he had gone back to them instead of staying here with me. It made me sad and angry with him all at once.

"I don't think he would do that to you." He told me petting my hair once again.

"That's what I thought but lone wolves don't usually make it on their own... maybe he went back because he thought we betrayed him, but this pack his birth right and there shouldn't be anything to keep him from it." He did belong here, he belonged here with me.

Kaden was silent after my words. "Well... maybe he always planned on going back. Maybe he just using you guys, like being part of this pack to manipulate you and your father. To take information back to the alpha. He has done it before." I shook my head. He would never do that to me, would he?

"I don't believe it until I see it for myself."

"Amelia, please be careful... You're birthday is coming up soon... You are going to be more unstable in the next two weeks than you will ever know." I know he was just concerned about my well being. To be honest I had no idea what was going to happen to me in the next couple weeks. It terrified every part of me, like I was suddenly a child again with no idea how to navigate the world.

I smiled up at him, "I'll be careful, but I need my trainer to be back on his feet." He smiled nodding towards the door. I looked over my shoulder to see Greg patiently waiting for me by the car. "I'm sorry to have to break this up but if we don't go you will be late for school." I nodded hopping out of the hospital bed. "I'll visit you when I get home."

"I'll be waiting." He said wincing as he resettled into the hospital bed.

Sebastian's POV

Mia had told me everything. About Ace and how he came back, how more packs are lining themselves behind him because they think, that because Steven is human they don't stand a chance. I was shocked into silence. Mia also told me about how Andrew had taken over the pack while I was gone and almost killed Violette's father just to get the pendant from him.

There was a knock at the door taking my attention away from Mia. Quinn stood in the doorway looking at me as if asking permission to speak. I nodded my head waiting for what he wanted to say.

"We need to get to school." He told us, "But Bash, Alpha wants to see you before you go." I nodded standing to my feet. I helped Mia to her feet and we both walked out behind Quinn, who led us to Ace's office.

Ace was sitting in his chair, Andrew by his side. "Sebastian, one of my first wolves to ever join my pack. Well I have to say I'm glad you came home but one of my little birdies has told me that you went in for trial at the Winter Mountain and you were going to be executed for treason against the Beta, Kaden from Dirty Paw pack."

"Okay? What's the point of this?" I asked staring at him with my arms crossed.

"Well you attacked the Beta because of one individual." Oh no. I knew what way he was taking this conversation, "Amelia is still the biggest threat to me and our pack. If she lives our pack will fall."

"I thought you didn't believe in all the prophecy bullshit." I pointed out.

"Oh I don't, but I know that she will be the most powerful wolf in her family's bloodline." He told me.

"So you're afraid of her?" He breathed in a very frustrated sigh.

"Your feelings for this girl will cloud your judgement. I have a solution for that little problem of ours." Andrew walked up behind me grabbing my arms along with Quinn.

"Hey! What are you doing?" I asked struggling against their grip.

Ace stood from him seat and pulled a necklace over his head. The pendant glistened in the light that barely filled the room. I struggled to get away from him as he placed it over my head. "Tenebris excipiant in lupum sanguinem et tenebrescere animam." He whispered into the pendant before he dropped it to my chest. It glowed blood red before darkening into charcoal black. It felt like my veins were lit on fire. Andrew and Quinn let me fall to my knees, as I gasped for air.

"Don't fight the darkness Sebastian. Let it darken your soul, get rid of inhibitions, feelings. Kill without regret. Let the darkness take over."

My claws extended scratching the wooden floor. My fangs lengthened splitting my lip open, making the coppery taste fill my mouth. My eyes were watering from the fire that was shooting through my body. I could feel my eyes begin to glow bright green, making Ace take a step back. I growled clenching my jaw tightly before I released it from my chest. I howled shattering the nearby glass as the fire continued to burn inside my veins. It pulsed with every beat of my heart. I could feel parts of me drain away. It felt the same when Barron had taken control, like I had no power over my own body.

"Make it stop." I growled through the pain. I could barely breathe, gasping at every breath.

"Don't fight it." and just like that the suffering was gone.

Amelia's POV

"I'm glad you're here today. I was a little freaked out about what happened the other night." Megan told me as we walked towards first period. I stopped before we got to the door making Megan give me a questioning look. There was something off about that room. "Do you feel that?" I questioned looking around to see where this weird feeling was coming from.

"Feel what?" she asked with her eyes flickering toward the door and myself.

"Something is off." I told her looking back towards math.

"Maybe it's just your body adjusting to the change."

I shook my head. This was something different, "Something isn't right." She rolled her eyes pulling me into the classroom. My jaw dropped when I saw him, Ally sitting in his lap. He looked up smirking in my direction.

"It's rude to stare dear." Ally said giving me the bitchiest smirk. I swallowed still not believing what I was seeing right in front of me. He did go back to his old pack... He went back to her... He didn't feel for me the way that I felt for him...

My heart clenched in my chest as I stared into the coldest green eyes I had ever seen. "Bash?" I whispered knowing his wolf hearing would pick up on it.

"You heard her." He said before putting his focus back to the whore on his lap. I tightened my jaw trying to hold back tears. Megan grabbed my hand and pulled me to my desk just as the teacher came in.

"Ally could you please go to your respective class." She popped her gum and jumped out his lap. She blew Mr. Bortilin a kiss on her way out before turning and winking towards me. I felt like I was going to throw up. There was still something about the room that seemed... dark.

I scanned the room looking for a source when I stopped on Bash who was already looking at me with the same old green eyes as before. I just stared. Was it coming from him? He was the only one that was acting strange and the darkness in his eyes was chilling my body. I took a seat displaying my math books on my desk. I could still feel his stare as I tried to pay attention to the teacher who was explaining something about Quadratics. My eyes flickered towards him to confirm that feeling. I turned to my left to see Quinn was also giving him a look.

"What's up with him today?" I asked him, "First he's all buddy buddy with Ally? Then he's staring at me like he wants to kill me?"

Quinn shrugged. "I don't know what's gotten into him. Maybe, his senses finally kicked in about you." That was extremely uncalled for, where the hell did that come from? I watched his eyes for a moment and there was guilt as they flickered back towards Bash. There was something wrong with the both of them.

"Don't you feel this kind of dark energy within this room?" I asked getting an eyebrow raise.

"I think you're just getting closer to your phasing." That's what everyone keeps tell me.

I rolled my eyes turning back towards the front. This was going to be a long class.

~

"Hey Violette." I said placing down my lunch tray as I sat down. She looked up from her book pushing a strand of violet hair behind her ear.

"How's your mom doing?" I asked biting into a nice juicy Apple. Her mother had been pretty broken up since her father was discovered dead with his chest ripped open on their kitchen floor.

"She's doing okay... She's... She's very quiet lately, sneaking out to join her hunting group but she's keeping me out of it completely." Megan joined our table with her nose crinkled up.

"Nine O'clock." She said making me turn around to see what she was disgusted about. Bash and Ally were in the middle of a full on make out session. I could feel my entire body get hot at the sight...

I almost threw up right there. I stood leaving my tray before I stormed out of the cafe. No one bothered to follow me. I rushed to the girls bathroom my heart pounding in my throat as I held back my vomit. I pushed open the stall keeling over to throw up the contents in my stomach, which wasn't much I might add but enough to be unpleasing. I coughed, gagging once more before I spit and wiped the corner of my mouth.

I slowly stood to my feet walking over to the sinks to splash water on my face. The dark feeling washed over me again making me look up to scan the room. The door then pushed open and Bash walked in with a smirk on his face. "You look terrible." He said taking a step closer. I backed up slightly making him stop.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked searching his cold green eyes.

"There's nothing wrong Angel." He said sending me a smile that didn't quite meet his eyes.

"There's something different about you." I told him as he took another step forward, "You were with Ally." I spit out, my sentence dying out at the end. I was still astonished over the scene in the cafeteria.

"So you were jealous?" He was hairs away from me. I could smell his cologne and his scent, and it was making me crazy in a bad way.

"What were you doing with her?" He reached out lightly touching the exposed skin on my arms, causing goosebumps to rise.

"There is no woman that could compare to you." He whispered into my ear causing shivers to race up my spine. He was so close that my skin was set ablaze from the mere heat of his body.

Him being so close was making my body do weird things. His scent was driving me crazy, I literally just wanted to stick my face in his neck like a weirdo. I looked up and my body chilled when I looked into his eyes... They weren't his eyes.

I took a step back before moving around him to leave the bathroom. "Where are you going?" He growled when I opened the door. I didn't bother answering him when I opened the door, smacking into Megan.

"I-I'm sorry."

"We went looking for you after ran out." Said Megan with Violette standing behind her. I looked back at the girls bathroom door before wrapping my arms around myself. Greg touched the small of back startling me a bit.

"Amelia are you alright?" I nodded looking back at the closed door once again.

"I'm good, thanks Greg." He nodded and went back to blending in with the student body.

"What happened in there?" Violette asked walking beside me as I began making my way to my locker.

"I can't stand seeing them together." I whispered.

"Is it because you are close to your phasing that you are so sensitive about this?" I shrugged.

"I don't know anymore." I whipped my head down the hall when my nostrils caught a scent I could recognize anywhere. Kaden stood there holding his bleeding gut in his hands, "KADEN!" I screamed sprinting towards him as he fell to his knees.

"Run." He told me as I pulled his head into my lap.

"W-what are you doing out of the hospital?" I asked pressing my hands over his wounds.

"Promise me... promise me you'll stay away from him. He'll corrupt you." Tears began falling down my cheeks as he coughed, blood staining his lips and his beautiful teeth.

"Who? Who will corrupt me? You're not making any sense. What-how did you get here?"

"Me." I looked up to see Bash standing over us, with the blue eyed wolf standing behind him. Two things stood out; the ruby pendant and his cold dark eyes.

"Sebastian?" I asked just getting a simple smirk, "W-what are you doing?" I asked as he took a step closer to me, crouching down to my height. He reached over closing Kaden's eyelids. I noticed the blood that was already on his fingers, staining his skin and his nails that were extended into claws.

"We're coming for you tonight Amelia. Your Reign is over even before it has even begun." his voice was robotic and cold. I looked down to see the red pendant had turned a black charcoal colour.

"Death and darkness. You will lose someone you love." I said quietly to myself. He was the one I was going to lose.

"Amelia?!" someone shouted as they shook my paralyzed body.

"What happened Megan?" Someone asked.

"She just shouted Kaden and ran before she passed out. It was like she was in a trance. Mumbling, mumbling about death and darkness."

A pair of strong arms lifted me from the ground, "She's really warm. I should probably take her home." I managed to move my fingers to grab the arm that had lifted me from the ground.

"He's going to die." I croaked out, "He's going to kill them. There will be two wolves that will fight over me. One will lose, the other standing over a dead body and it's going to be my fault."

And just like that, the world faded away once again.

Sebastian's POV

I watched with a smirk on my face as Amelia fell to the floor. Something dark twisted within me liking the idea as her lying on the floor, beaten and broken. "Bash." Ally cooed into my ear, "What do you say we get out of here and go back to my place." I watched Megan rush to Amelia's side ignoring Ally's suggestion, I was already bored with here. I was really only using her for my own purposes. Especially the way it made Amelia feel on the inside.

"I'm actually kinda looking forward to English today." Ally rolled her eyes, "Come on Bash embrace the dark side. What's missing one more day for you anyway? You've been gone for weeks." Something about the way she said dark side made something snap inside me.

"Well you would know all too well the idea of bringing men home. Why don't you close your legs sometime sweetheart." With that I walked away gathering my books for the next class. School seemed pointless now. What was the point of getting an education with our war brimming on the horizon.

Looking back at Amelia's body guard carry her off to the office. Ace will like the good news, well bad news in his eyes. Amelia was going to shift very very soon, her body was just having a hard time adjusting to her new abilities. Her scent had changed overnight. I inhaled deeply, thinking about how good she would look underneath me. I couldn't stop obsessing with her and the lore based on the Winter Wolf. Amelia was going to a very powerful werewolf who, when she changed, was going to end Ace's life with the snap of her fingers.

However, I couldn't let that happen. Amelia had to be destroyed before she became what she was destined to become. That, or I had to find a way to turn her into the ultimate weapon against Steven. Bitter rage built in my stomach just thinking his name, he will pay for what he did to me. I walked into English, my jaw clenched so hard I'm surprised my teeth didn't break.

Ace was sitting at his desk pretending he wasn't a power alpha that had blood red hands. Ace looked up obviously sensing my pheromones of pure rage and what I've been told, darkness. His eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. "Sebastian are you alright?" I nodded my head towards the door getting a couple of looks from the students.

He nodded putting Macbeth down on his desk. "Everyone, open your books to act three. I'll be back in a second. Don't get too loud." With a couple chuckles Ace followed me out of the room checking the hallway for any extra listeners, "What is it?"

"It's Amelia, I fear her phasing may come earlier than expected. She's already developing some of her abilities. I think she may shift before her birthday, on the full moon next week. Her scent is already changing and she's beginning to sense things like other werewolves." Ace stayed silent but the look on his face confirmed that he was pissed at the news.

"We are going to have to get the army ready. We are going to attack Winter Mountain territory sooner than we thought. Amelia must be terminated."

I smirked, "How do you plan on doing that? If you don't mind me asking." he was silent for several moments before a chilling smile spread across his face.

"Contact Derek, it's time."

"Don't you think It's too soon? Our troops can't get ready overnight. We aren't ready, we haven't been trained enough." I said making Ace's eyes glow in frustration, his bright blue eyes bore into mine.

"You will be ready, they will all be ready."

I grabbed his arm as he went to go back into his classroom. "This is a bad idea, you will get everyone killed, even with alpha Derek on our side. With Amelia's abilities, she will probably already know that we are coming. They have six packs that are standing behind them. You only have four, plus the fairy king. Your own pack isn't even strong enough yet. We are teenagers, not soldiers." We just didn't have the numbers yet. The only thing we had on our side was the surprise betrayal from Steven's closest friend, Derek.

"We don't have anymore time Bash. We will take two days to prepare. That's all you get to get ready. Amelia must die and Steven must go out with her. I will be alpha of the Winter Mountain." He was ambitious and part of me worried that it would lead to his downfall.

"What about Caine? Or the chosen seven that are up for the title?" I asked.

"I will kill them. I will kill them all."

Amelia's POV

I woke up in my bed with Megan sleeping soundlessly beside me. I felt like I had the flu, my bones ached and my whole body felt like it was hot with a fever. I groaned making Greg stand up from a chair he had been sitting in to come over, "Amelia are you alright?" I shook my head. Greg pressed his hand to my forehead and hissed. "You are extremely hot. I'll go get you some water. Your father had important business to attend to today and your mother is with him."

I nodded, "Is Kaden okay?" I asked my throat sounding hoarse. I remember what I had seen at school earlier today, with the hallucination of Kaden bleeding out in my arms.

"He's alright, he's moving around now." I gave him a weak smile trying to cover the nausea I was feeling. I was grateful that what I had seen had been an illusion, but part of me worried that somehow it may have been a prediction of my future. Was Kaden going to die because of me? Was he the one I was going to lose?

"Good, thank you Greg." I said after realizing I had been silent for several moments. He took that as a cue to leave but I grabbed his arm, "If Kaden is well enough, could you get him here?"

He nodded placing his other hand on top of mine, "Relax Amelia, you need your rest." then my stomach dropped. Something was wrong. I sat up getting hit with another wave of nausea, startling Megan from her sleep.

"Amelia?!" Megan yelled as I stood to my feet. I felt that darkness again.

"Something Is Wrong.... Get My Father Home Now." I almost fell over supporting myself on the closest wall. Megan grabbed my elbows trying to support me while Greg looked at me waiting for an explanation. "They're coming.... Ace's pack is coming."

"Amelia what do you mean? We have a spy on the inside who hasn't given us any news." My head throbbed as Megan walked me back to my bed.

"Who do you have on the inside?" I asked making Greg press his lips together, "Please tell me, it's important that I know."

"His name is Nathen, he was bitten by the alpha but he belongs to this pack just like Sebastian and Quinn. Nathen was half werewolf like Quinn, his genes were dormant until he was bitten. However, Nathen grew up in the pack life since he was a child. He chose his real pack over the one he was given." I've never heard of this Nathen guy, he was never mentioned to me before.

"At the school, when passed out, I saw Kaden bleeding before me and Bash was standing over him. Ace was standing behind him in wolf form." Megan and Greg watched me in silence letting me tell my story, "He told me that the war was coming sooner than I thought. That I was going to die with the rest of my pack. But, something that keeps happening in my little visions or dreams or whatever you want to call them...." I trailed off looking straight at Greg, "The pendant that brought Ace back to life, I think it plays a major roll in this. I believe Bash is wearing it and it's letting Ace control him. In my vision it wasn't red it was dark black." If Ace had somehow manipulated the pendant, it could explain Bash's behaviour. I knew there was something wrong with him.

"Today at school he was acting strange but his eyes were as cold as ice." Megan pointed out. It was as if she had read my mind.

"We need to get that pendant away from him if we have any chance of winning this. It should return my fathers powers to him as well, since it was the object that took it in the first place, and I don't just mean his werewolf powers, it should give him back his title of alpha." This pendant could save us. Even though my father and I were not in a good place, I still wanted to help him. He was my father after all, I know he does everything he does because he loves me. Both my parents wanted to keep me safe when they dragged me from this world.

Greg nodded. "I'll contact your father immediately."

Megan rubbed my back as Greg left the room. "Everything is going to be okay."

I shook my head, "If we can't get that pendant we will lose everything, including our own lives." I said to her. My voice was low as I looked at her in the dimly lit room. Megan jumped off the bed and grabbed her backpack to pull out a very old looking book.

"It's one of my moms old spell books. Maybe we can use it to look deeper into the visions or whatever you keep having."

"Amelia?" I looked towards the door to see my grandmother standing there in her hospital scrubs.

"Grandma what are you doing here?" she came over and sat down on the bed next to me. Megan gave my arm a light squeeze before she got up to leave the room.

"Your father contacted me to check on you. Greg told me everything about what you saw, and I believe you. The pendant is named after a dark werewolf, Kek, which means god of darkness in Egypt. He used it to take the powers from the other alphas. He was driven mad with power until, he was destroyed by a Winter Wolf such as yourself. The pendant was lost in the temple of Kek and was never to be found until a wolf named Collis, son of Kek, went hunting for its power. It corrupted him just like it did with Kek. Eventually its darkness corrupted Ace, to the point where he betrayed his best friend, your father." I couldn't imagine the betrayal my father must have felt when Ace turned on him.

"Will it destroy Sebastian?" I asked her. I couldn't help it, I was worried sick about him and his well being.

She nodded, "It's darkness will destroy him and his wolf. It can't be resisted." I placed my head in my hands and let the tears fall. I was going to lose him.

"I don't want to lose him." I croaked. She raised her hand and began stroking my hair that was a definitely a knotted mess.

"Amelia if there is something that I've learned over the many many years that I've been alive it's that light and love is stronger than darkness. Sebastian is stronger than he knows and his love for you will save him." I wiped my cheeks and looked into my grandmothers warm welcoming eyes. "Everything will work out. You can do this."

Then the moment was ruined. It was as if someone had grabbed my spine and cracked it in half from the inside. I screamed falling off the bed and onto the floor gasping for breath.
