Vampire King: Chap 11
Third Person
The night was dark and eerily quiet when Raphael approached. Peter noticed that the night had a bitter bite to it, not that it bothered his pale skin. "What's the news?" Peter demanded of Raphael. He smelt of blood, he obviously had a snack on the way back Peter thought.
"The girl we have been tracking was taken by wolf. Part of the bitten pack." His accent was thick while he spoke, making his warm breath rose in the air dissipating in a cloud of vapour.
"Where did he take her?" Peter asked the dark man in front of him.
"To the one town over. They were hard to track, smelled like gasoline. The boss will be happy that we have the location of the target." Peter looked up with his dark orange eyes.
"The boss told us not to touch her. She is his responsibility."
Raphael held up his hands. "I know the girl is not to be touched. The fact that she is what you say, a walking bag of poison." Raphael's Russian accent was hard to decode but Peter understood what he meant. It was Lucas's fault he fed off of that girl.
"We should tell him about her location." Raphael nodded pulling out two cigarettes. He handed on to Peter carefully and he took the other in his mouth. Peter accepted sticking the cigarette in his own mouth, graciously taking the lighter from Raphael's cold hands.
"What do you think he wants with this girl?" Peter asked after breathing out a lungful of smoke. "No idea but he said he has some deal with the alpha to get rid of her. She's a threat to both our kind and their filthy kind." Raphael let the deadly smoke fill his lungs as he stared at the star lit sky.
The door behind them opened and a red headed female came into the night. "The boss would like to see you now." Peter recognized the female vampire as Lily.
"We are just taking our time Lily." Raphael said nonchalantly.
"You know he doesn't like waiting." She spit out eyeing both boys.
Peter sighed throwing the cigarette to the ground, mushing it underneath a beaten up combat boot. "I don't know about you but I'd like to keep my head for a little while longer." Raphael chuckled at his remark snuffing his own cigarette. He patted Peter on the back and they both walked up the cracked steps.
Lily led them inside waiting as Peter shut the door. This place was crawling with beings of their kind. Hiding away from all human eyes. They were very nocturnal creatures that yes fed off of blood. Peter was different then most his kind. It wasn't the fact that he could walk into the sunlight or that he preferred animal blood, it was the fact that he wasn't a full breed.
He wasn't bitten like most of his family, in fact he was born. The spawn of a wolf and a vampire. Unlike the others, sunlight didn't burn his skin to ash, therefore he was handed the task of watching the Winters girl in the daylight. His scent wasn't the same as say Raphael's, in fact his heart did beat. They didn't know whether Peter was immortal, but he was fairly indestructible.
"Hello Peter." Peter tried not to shiver in disgust as Rebecca pressed herself to his side, boobs and all.
"Rebecca I'm busy." She got close to his neck baring her teeth. She inhaled his scent and smiled.
"If you want to have a good time, you know where to find me." Lily gagged making Raphael chuckle.
"Jealous Lilypad?" Peter asked pushing himself against her back. She growled pulling herself away.
"In your dreams Halfbreed." Peter put his hand over his heart in a way of pretending pain.
"I'm hurt, really." Lily rolled her eyes flipping her flaming hair over her shoulder.
They arrived at the doors and Lily knocked three times. The Vampire King would be sitting in his throne right about now being high and mighty, Peter thought. He knew that the king was only keeping him alive because he was an asset and the minute he betrayed his loyalty, he would be dead.
The huge double doors opened with a creak revealing the large throne. "Peter, Raphael. Glad you could make it." The Kings tone was obviously annoyed as he stood from the iron throne. His eyes shown brightly in the dark room making Peter feel uncomfortable, "What news is there, Raphael?" He asked dragging his long fingernails along the metal arm of the throne.
"The girl is not under the protection of her family. She was taken by a wolf from Alpha Ace's pack." Raphael began as he folded his hands behind his back.
"Where was she taken?" He asked.
"To the city twenty minutes away, Bridgedale." Peter watched the Vampire King carefully as he sat back down. He tapped his chin with his long fingernails before an evil smirk grew on his face.
"She is vulnerable, now is the time to attack."
"But there's more..." Raphael said lowering his head a bit, "It's warded against the supernatural." The King stood once again, pounding down the steps. He grabbed Raphael by the neck lifting him straight off his feet.
"WARDED?! That would be something I would like to hear about first, understand me?" He released Raphael and he fell to the ground holding his throat. "How did they get in? They are also supernatural creatures." Raphael stood to his feet still rubbing his throat.
"It's a safe house for wolves. But my lord, once she leaves that building we can take her."
The king hissed, "She won't leave at night." Raphael nodded.
"That's why we send Peter to get her." Peter looked up completely shocked. Going to school with the girl is one thing but taking her, from one of her guard dogs and in the daylight, would be tricky.
"My lord doing something that risky could expose us and-" he held up a long finger silencing the halfbreed.
"Raphael is right, you must take the girl. Ace will be pleased with us."
"Do you think that he's going to let us live on his land after he takes out the Winters pack? I don't trust them." Peter remarked.
"We don't have to trust them child. We just have to distract them long enough to build our army." Peter was shocked by the words he was hearing. An army was one thing, but an army of Vampires was another.
"An army?" Raphael asked just as surprised as Peter.
"Oh Raphael, there is a plan much bigger than us at work." He patted his cheek a few times before he turned away, "Raphael you may leave. Peter and I have many things to discuss." Raphael gave Peter a glance before he exited through the old doors. Lily left the room also, letting the doors be closed behind her.
"Come up here my son." He said after sitting back down in his throne. Peter was hesitant but be walked closer to the risen alter.
"Father-"
"Peter, you must understand that you are the only one who can do this." Peter took a step up the first stair before he kneeled.
"Father, I could expose us to her wolf guard."
The king chuckled. "Then you kill him."
"What if they come looking for him? We would have the Winters pack on our tails." He placed a boney hand on Peters shoulder.
"Then you can't afford to screw up." The pressure on Peters shoulders increased, "You can do this my son, I have faith in you. You will make your family proud." Peter nodded.
"I will make you proud father."
"Bring the girl back alive, and do not come home until you do."
Peter turned away from the King and watched the guards open the door to let him out. He stormed down the hallway to find Raphael leaning against a wall, waiting for him. "You getting your head chopped off soon?" Raphael asked, his Russian accent thick.
"No I have to go to Bridgedale and not return until I have the girl, alive I might add."
"Well then I guess you and I are going to Bridgedale." Raphael said pulling out another lung killer.
"Why do you want to go with me to Bridgedale?" He shrugged at Peter's question.
"I don't have anything better to do. And hey, you could use a partner in crime."
"But you cannot go into the sun." Peter commented taking the cigarette from Raphael's mouth, inhaling it himself.
"I know that, I'm not stupid. I'm sure there's somewhere I can stay during the day hours. Maybe somewhere with strippers. Those always taste good."
Peter shook his head. "Fine, let's go but I'm driving."
Raphael scoffed. "Drive? Who said anything about driving?" Peter smiled.
"Just because I'm a halfbreed doesn't mean I'm not faster then you." Raphael threw his tobacco to the ground.
"Wanna bet on it?" He asked eyeing Peter.
"Oh you're on." With that Peter tapped into his super human speed and ran out of the vampire lair. He could hear Raphael chuckling behind them as the sped through the forest.
They made it to Bridgedale within minutes and Raphael passed Peter stopping in front of the warded apartments. "She's in there?" Peter asked. Raphael pointed to a window on the third story where the light was still on. "Smell that?" Raphael asked. Peter sniffed the air catching a putrid smell.
"Werewolf." Peter muttered. A large wolf pierced through the trees and shifted into a teenage boy, "Quinn?"
"You know this wolf?" Peter nodded at his question.
"He's part of Ace's pack. He's her guard dog?" They both watched Quinn enter the apartment building, "Does he know who you are?" Raphael questioned Peter.
"I don't think he knows that I'm a halfbreed, but he won't give her up without a fight."
"Are they mates?" Peter stared at the lit window debating it for a minute.
"I'm not sure, Amelia isn't an actual wolf yet."
Raphael sighed. "Well we're going to be out here for a while, why don't we grab ourselves a quick snack?"
Peter rolled his eyes. "You go. I'll watch the house."
"Suit yourself." Raphael sped off leaving Peter alone in the cold night air. Why would she leave her home, without protection? He asked himself.
"You look like you could use the company."
Peter sighed after Rebecca came up behind him. "Go back to the nest Rebecca." Peter spit at her.
She pursed her lips. "No I think I'm going to stay here, at least until the sun comes up." Great.
"Look Rebecca, don't take this the wrong way but I'm a little busy and you aren't making this any better."
Rebecca pouted her lip. "So you let Raphael tag along but you won't let me? Ouch, hurts like a stake to the heart." She shoved her hands in her pockets after Peter's silence, "Since when did you start hating me?" She asked him.
"Since you drank my cat." Peter said sarcastically.
Rebecca rolled her eyes. "Come on Pete, there has to be a reason you stopped wanting to see me. I mean you and I used to be really close, like really close." Rebecca touched his arm making him flinch.
"I have a job Rebecca, can we talk about this later?" Rebecca took a step back.
"You know about the boss's plan don't you?" This caught Peter's attention, "Why do you really think he wants that girl up there?" Peter looked back towards the window as the light flicked off. "He isn't going to kill her. Oh no no no. He's going to use her... She's going to be the ultimate weapon and she is going to be the death of the Werewolf Goddess. The death of all the wolves in the entire world." Peter stared at the girl in front of him like she had two heads.
"Last time I checked she was supposed to bring down the Bitten pack, saviour of her kind. Blah blah blah."
Rebecca smirked. "Not unless we get our hands on that pendant." Peter's eyebrows furrowed.
"Ace's pendant?" Rebecca nodded folding her arms over her chest.
"Don't the hunters have it?" Peter asked making Rebecca nod.
"Not until we steal it. We can deal with a few hunters."
"What's he going to use the pendant for anyway?" Peter asked rubbing his hands down his face.
"What do you think halfbreed? He's going to use it to control the Winter Wolf."
