Control: Chap 14
Amelia's POV
I gasped as I was shaken out of my nightmare. Kaden held onto my shoulders tightly. "You started whimpering." He said quietly. I reached up and rubbed my eyes to swat away the tears.
"What time is it?" I asked my voice groggy with sleep.
"It's four in the morning." Well that's more sleep then I usually get, "Do you have nightmares often?" I nodded as he laid down beside me. I turned my body to face him.
"Yeah." I said quietly, my voice was scratchy as I spoke.
"What are they about?" I swallowed not really wanting to answer his question.
"I've had the same dream over and over since I got here. I see a dark wolf with bright blue eyes attacking a white wolf with matching eyes to mine." His brows scrunched together.
He lifted his hand and caressed my face and trailed a finger across my lips. I shivered but kept watching him intensely. "Well I talked to your father, guess who's your new personal trainer?" I smiled.
"Well coach, what do you suppose I start with?"
He grabbed his chin, "Hmmm."
I shoved his shoulder barely making him budge. He took my injured hand in his. "Well, we can't do much until this is healed." He slowly undid the bandage and stared at the stitches.
"Did you stitch up your own hand?" I nodded, "I've taught myself a few things." I lied.
"It appears to be healing." I looked at it too to see some of the stitches had already fallen out.
"Okay so being with me handicapped today, what do you suppose we do?"
"Well we can do some cardio, running." I gave him a 'really' look.
"Are you crazy? I don't have werewolf heating yet! Look it's snowing!" I said motioning to the window.
"Well maybe we could do yoga." I smiled.
"Yoga sounds good-Wait you do yoga?" I asked with a laugh.
"I thought this was a judge free zone!" We both chuckled again as he rewrapped my hand. "Come on I'll make you breakfast." I shook my head.
"I'm not that hungry." I said getting out of bed. I pulled my suitcase out from under the bed and threw it on the bed. Kaden got up to to avoid getting hit by the lid.
"You should eat something, you need protein to keep up your strength."
He walked beside me and pulled up a pair of my ugly undies. "Sexy." He said with a laugh making me snatch it from his hand, but I missed.
"Give them back." I whined. He shook his head.
"I don't think so, I can't get over how sexy these are. Fruit of the Loom." I'm sure my face was tomato red.
"Kaden." I said more firmly.
His head shot up and he handed them back immediately. I threw them back into the case punching his chest that was covered by a well fitting t-shirt. "Ow." He said rubbing the spot while laughing.
"Dork." I told him shaking me head.
"Get changed, I'll meet you down stairs with breakfast."
I watched him walk out the door before I changed into a baggy t-shirt and yoga pants. Walking over the nightstand I grabbed my phone with my left uninjured hand, and my heart stopped.
Bitchy Witchy (Megan, name put in there by her herself): I found the old root online, should be here Sunday, AKA tomorrow. DNA needed. XOXOXO
Me: Great. I'll C what I can do. Xoxoxo
I sent the text message and placed my phone back on the nightstand. I threw on my shoes and put my hair up as I walked down the stairs. Kaden was in the kitchen making eggs. "I figured eggs would be a good thing to eat. There's cheese in the fridge."
I walked over to the fridge and pulled out a bag of shredded cheese. I loved cheese on my eggs. Kaden grabbed the cheese forcefully from my hands making me slap him. He handed me a plate and a fork. I was hesitant to eat it but my stomach growled in anticipation. I shoved a forkful into my my mouth and smiled. "Good eh?" I nodded. Just what I needed.
"Amelia? Is there something wrong? Why are you out of bed so early?" I turned to see Greg was watching me closely. I opened my mouth to tell him the truth but Kaden cut me off.
"She's up for a workout, with me. Steven assigned me to the job." Greg eyed him and gave a quick nod before leaving.
"You know you could have told him the truth. He's my body guard shadow, he knows I have nightmares and he probably already saw the mirror." Kaden just silently ate his eggs as I ranted, "I should clean that up before anyone sees."
I shook my head. "Just leave it. I'll deal with it." He chuckled.
"Um looking at your experience with it I think you should leave it to me." I slapped his chest again, "Ow."
We both finished our plates and I followed Kaden into the work out room where we both laid out yoga matts. After putting on what Kaden called 'mellow dramatic yoga music' he told me to cross my legs and to focus on my breathing. Apparently meditating was essential. "Sit up straight." I withheld my groan and straightened my back again.
"Focus on the music, inhale," I took in a breath. "Exhale." My body slowly began to relax and go into some sort of trance. I seemed to be stuck in between reality and sleep. And sleep only brought one thing. I opened my eyes and the dark wolf was standing over me.
I hitched in a breath as he bowed revealing a dark red pendant. Ace. But looking up at the eyes I saw that of bright green. Sebastian. The wolf seemed to smirk before he launched towards me, teeth bared.
"Amelia?!" My eyes fluttered open to see Kaden was still shaking me.
"Kaden?" He sighed in relief.
"What happened? It was like you faded away and went into a trance." I blinked a few hundred times uncomfortable by the layer of sweat that now covered my body.
"It was like I was sleeping, but I wasn't."
"What did you see?" The pendant, Ace's pendant. "I need to see my father." I stood up and wobbled, Kaden standing up to steady me.
"He's still sleeping."
"I don't care it's important."
Sebastian's POV
"I can feel it. The full moon." I told Caine staring at the clouded sky. It was still dark, probably close to five in the morning, "Who was that woman last night?"
"Our mother. Our creator." The Moon Goddess.
"What was she doing here?" I asked leaning against the cold cavern wall. Leaning against it I couldn't help but think of the cave Tyler and I discovered at the bottom of those cliffs.
"She was here to scold me for how I treated my Great Granddaughter." My eyebrows furrowed, "I questioned her future choices. She snapped." Sounds like her. I smiled at the thought. "The full moon tomorrow is going to be a strong one." He looked up at the cold covered sky, his sea green eyes glowing ever so slightly.
"I thought you had control." He smiled.
"Oh I do, I've only had about a hundred years practice. Even then, my wolf wants to be free at that feeling. Fighting for control gets easier, but you can still feel the beast trying to break free from its reigns. You only get a tighter grip but the reign stays the same length." More karate kid language. He speaks like a fortune cookie sometimes.
"I'm sad to say but I miss school." Mostly because I got to see her everyday. "Some people must think I fell off a cliff or something."
Caine chuckled at my comment, "Don't worry you'll be able to rejoin them soon. But we have some matters to discuss."
"Like what?" I asked him watching as he turned towards the opposite wall, his hands folded together behind his back.
"Well you are naturally born into this pack, but I want you to return to your old pack. Become Alpha and keep that pack down until we are ready to fight." Barron growled not too pleased to return to my friends.
"But the alpha is dead, the pack has a new leader. Why are you so worried about them?"
Caine cleared his throat turning around to face me once again. "Andrew, the new pack leader, wants this war as badly as he did. We need to give more time to Amelia, so she can shift and fight along with us. The Goddess also told me something that changes everything..." I was getting impatient as he stopped talking.
"What changes everything?"
His eyes glazed over and he sighed. "It's none of my business to tell. I brought some food back for you." Great. A subject change. I took the food graciously glad to fill my stomach with something, "Vampire reports are getting worse within the area." Caine muttered sitting across from me at our makeshift table.
"Is it because of Peter?"
He nodded, "The vampires valued the hybrid because he could walk in the daylight. They must want him back. But Maria is taking good care of him." This is the only thing we ever discussed, pack business or of course the weather, which didn't change much in the mountains. I'd be surprised if he talked about anything else.
"I'll do it." Caine looked at me for a few moments waiting for me to explain myself. "Going to my old pack I mean." He nodded in understanding, but it wasn't like I had a choice. My wolf followed him now.
"I'm going to use the full moon to help you merge." I almost choked on my food. I coughed a few times before replying.
"And how exactly are you going to do that?"
"You'll see." Great, I thought to myself, barely being able to swallow the food in my mouth.
Amelia's POV
Kaden followed my speed walking figure to my dads 'New' office space. I knocked on the door firmly three times waiting for answer. When their wasn't one I pushed open the door getting three heads to shoot in my direction. What they were all doing up at this time in the morning was beyond me. Sleeping my ass.
Shooting Kaden a final look I turned to my father, who was apparently having a meeting with Derek and with someone I recognized as Sebastian's father. He looked exhausted, the same green eyes as his sons staring back at me. "Dad, I need to speak to you. If it wasn't important I wouldn't bother you and you know that."
He nodded standing up from his seat. The second he stood Derek and Mr. Peters followed before exiting the room. "Amelia, what are you doing up at this hour." I pointed to Kaden.
"Training." My father shot a look towards him making him bow and leave the room quickly. That was Rude.
"Dad," I said sitting down in a chair across from his desk. "I was meditating with Kaden and I went into a trance." His face was lined with worry as I began to tell him. "It was like I was sleeping, yet I was still in the room." He placed his elbows on the table and placed his chin on top of his folded hands. "The red pendant, that Ace was wearing stood out to me. I think Andrew is going to look for that pendant." His eyebrows furrowed.
"What does that pendant have to do with anything? The hunters have it anyway." I brushed my bangs aside to tuck them behind my ears.
"Well, that pendant is what helped Ace become Alpha. What if it can give his powers to others like Andrew." Or the green eyed wolf.
"So you think he's after the pendant?"
"I know that it sounds crazy, but all my dreams have been significant and you know it. The blue eyed wolf, I dreamed about him way before we moved to RavenHills." His lips were pressed together, unsure of what to say. I know my weird dreaming scared him, I know that I'm different and it's quite noticeable when your own parents look at you like you're crazy.
"Fine, if you don't want to listen to me, then you can forget about me being alpha." He stood from his chair at the same time I did.
"Amelia," he pleaded.
"What? You can't really believe that I'm alpha material do you? I get no respect, because what? I'm a girl? Because I haven't shifted yet? My own Great Grandfather thinks I'm a waste of space. Get someone else to fill in the position. I'm happy to sit out those stupid life threatening trials. And pick someone else to fight in this stupid war. I'm gonna go run off and find Connor." I turned around and slammed the office door in the process.
Kaden was waiting for me, leaning against the back wall. He took my expression in and winced. "Are you okay?"
I shook my head, "I don't want to be here anymore." I sobbed before I ran off. I slammed the door to my room and jumped into the bed. Curling up into a ball, I let the tears fall, my body beginning to tremble.
My lungs burned and my eyes stung as I tried to myself closer to my body. I wanted all the pain to go away. My mind then jumped to his face, green eyes full of worry. I opened my eyes slowly. Megan. I picked up my cellphone and looked over our conversation again. I needed to get a piece of DNA that belongs to Sebastian.
I jumped up from the bed wiping my eyes roughly. Pulling out my suitcase I grabbed his sweatshirt he'd given me weeks ago. I checked the whole sweater not finding a single hair. I sighed, escaping a heavily guarded compound when I was on lock down was going to be a bit tricky, not to mention they're all werewolves and they know my scent.
Unless Kaden could smuggle me out. An evil grin spread across my face. Now I just need the right thing to blackmail him with. A soft knock sounded at the door. "Sweetheart, can I come in?"
"Yeah." My mom opened the door and peeked in.
"You doing okay?" I nodded.
"Dad doesn't let me speak... And it's just frustrating." She closed the door quietly and treaded lightly towards me like she wasn't trying to spook me.
"Your father has a lot on his plate right now." Here comes the speech. I wrapped my fists within the fabric of his sweater and frowned as she continued. "I know you've heard this a million times but you can do this."
I sighed in frustration. "Mom, I have no training, no knowledge about any of this." I said throwing my arms to gesture to the werewolf vicinity. "I'm scared and.... and I miss him. I don't even know why... I barely know him and it's not like he ever talked to me." She pushed my hair away from my face and gave me a sad smile.
"Is there anything I can do to help you? Ice cream? Sad Movie?" She asked and a light bulb went off.
"Well, is there anyway I can go into town with Kaden this afternoon?" She looked at me for a moment and nodded.
"I'll see what I can do, if you promise not to go running off, and will have guards with you." I mustered up the best smile I could pull off.
"I promise."
She smoothed my hair before I watched her exit my room. Well that worked out.
~
Kaden frowned at me after I told him my plan. "This is a bad plan. He obviously doesn't want to be found." Well I don't really give a rats ass, "Plus your father hasn't even said yes yet." He pointed out.
"Well a girl can dream." He placed a ham sandwich in front of me. His eyes saying 'eat this or I'll cut all your hair off in your sleep and shave your eyebrows.'
I rolled my eyes taking a bite, all food seemed to taste like cardboard after He left. Gosh it was hard to even think of his name. I placed it back on the plate and forced myself to swallow. "Please, this is important to me."
He sighed heavily his shoulders slumping slightly. "Okay, I'll help you. But only because you asked nicely."
Greg came into the room catching my attention, "We have a guest arriving and it is of great importance that you are present." I nodded and followed him to the front door where all the high ranked wolves were standing.
My jaw dropped when I saw them. They were gorgeous riding in on various animals like moose and horses. "The Elvish leaders are here." Kaden whispered to me.
"You mean Elves exist?" I whispered to him.
He nodded, "Remember that story I told you about they gods and goddesses that fell from heaven. The elvish peoples were one of the six creations."
All I could do was stare. They were tall and slender and moved with such a grace I knew I could never pull off. They were so beautiful. "Princess Adele, your majesty." My father said bowing towards who looked like the princess and then toward the king that was wearing a branch-like crown, "Please come in we have a lot to discuss."
Adele and her father nodded following us into the pack house. I was retreating from the group when my father called my name. "Amelia, this is important. I request that you be present." Wow he really did stop talking to me like a father. I nodded and followed the beautiful elves that towered over me. Wow I felt extremely ugly being next to them.
The door was shut behind Derek, my father and I and of course the elvish royals. I watched my father take his seat. "Please." He said gesturing to the chairs. Disgust crossed their faces.
"We would rather stand." Recalling Kaden's story, the elvish obviously did not particularly like us werewolf folk.
"Can we just get to the point Steven." The utter disgust within the Kings tone made me shun away a bit watching my father for a reaction.
"Thank you, Ernest for making the trip here. I know we've had our differences." I could tell the elvish King, Ernest, was getting impatient waiting for my father to get to the point.
"Get to the point Steven. I know of the war you are about to be engaged in, and you want us to join your side to help you fight and what not." I almost melted at the knees at the sound of his voice, when it of course was softer. He could have asked my to do anything for them and I probably would.
"Will you fight with us Ernest?" Ernest straightened his back and looked at my father again with hatred and disgust.
"I will not fight along side with abominations to the natural order. You dogs and your petty territorial fights grow tiring don't they?" Adele looked uncomfortable and she glanced at me when she felt I was staring at her. I nodded my head towards the door and she looked relieved.
Our fathers did not object when we stepped up to leave. I opened the door for her and she gave me a nod. "Stupid politics." I mumbled.
"I agree with you on that one." Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at me, "You aren't one of them are you?" I shook me head at her question.
"I will be, on my seventeenth birthday." Her nose crinkled up.
"You really do hate us don't you?" I asked her making her sliver eyes shift towards me.
"Werewolves are unnatural beings, human and dog. The elvish believe in nature and the sacred aspect of it. All the other creatures disturb the human world."
"But couldn't the same be said about you?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"We elvish do not interfere with human aspects. Our magic is only used for good, for light." Adele frowned before she looked at the door. Quinn stood there staring at Adele, "Oh God." She whispered. Quinn seemed to be in shock staring at the elvish princess.
Then it clicked. Mates. I thought bitten wolves couldn't have mates. As if Adele read my mind she winced. "The elvish can be mated. Have a strong attraction to one that will help in the survival of our next of kin."
My heart ached. I was going to lose him, my security blanket. I fell apart watching him slowly make me obsolete. "What is your name warrior?" She asked her voice rolling off her tongue like melted butter.
"Q-Quinn." He stuttered.
Adele approached him and I would have laughed at the height difference if I wasn't going to lose my boyfriend to the beautiful and apparently irresistible Adele, elvish princess. She was speaking to him with a strong tone making Quinn's face fall. "I know mates mean everything to you dogs but we elves are more flexible. We will never be together. I will never be mates to a dog like yourself."
The doors to my father's door opened forcefully making me jump and turn around. "I will not fight. No elvish blood shall be spilled over a wolfs." He stomped away with grace towards Adele who had stepped away from Quinn to let her father approach.
"Please Ernest, I beg of you." Derek called.
But my father cut in, "Don't expect us to come running to rescue you when you are in a time of need." Ernest turned around his long blond hair flipping over his shoulder.
"I will never need the help of dogs. Adele, we are leaving, now."
Adele glanced at Quinn with a longing yet, a disgusted look. All Quinn could do was stare as they gracefully bounced down the steps. My father was practically steaming, his fists clenched tightly. "We still have the Faye and the other wolf packs. People are joining your side as we speak." Derek said trying to comfort him. But we could see that it wasn't relieving any stress off my father.
Quinn seemed to snap out of his trance and look towards me to see if I had witnessed the whole thing. His shoulders slumped when he looked at my face. I shot him a smile. We knew this would happen, even though I wouldn't mind having him as a mate, but we both knew there was only one person I wanted.
My dad came towards me and patted my shoulder. "I invited Quinn here so you wouldn't have a need to go into town." Anger flushed through me.
"Dad you promised. I wasn't going into town to see him, I was going to see Megan." I lied. Sorta. Kaden was watching us closely with his arms folded across his chest.
He opened his mouth as to speak but quickly shut it, "Oh." I rolled my eyes. Oh my ass.
"Whatever dad." I turned and walked towards Quinn who was staring at the door in longing. His brown eyes flickered to mine and I could see the sorrow that was swimming around within them.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him close, "I'm sorry." I whispered to him. His arms tightened around me.
"Kaden told me we had to talk." I looked over Quinn's shoulder to see him nod his head towards the stairs. I pulled back and grabbed his warm hand and led him to the stairs casting a look at my father.
Once in my room I shut the door and turned to Kaden letting Quinn's hand drop. He walked to the window and sighed. "I have an idea." He gestured to Quinn, "Your father isn't going to let you leave. That much is obvious." Quinn had now turned to listen to our conversation.
"What do you need me to do?" My heart melted. After everything he's been through he still trusts me, would do anything if I asked him to.
Tears brimmed in my eyes. "I need to find him."
He nodded and smiled, "I understand what you are going through now. What's the plan?"
Kaden explained to him our new plan. Quinn was to retrieve any piece of Bash's DNA he could find and give to to Megan who in turn would bring it here tomorrow. My part was to convince my father to let her into pack territory. Which would be risky considering not everyone was as friendly toward witches as we were.
Quinn had left a while ago with great effort. Our pack wanted him executed for being with the bitten pack. He was unclean in their eyes. Snow had began to collect upon the ground once again, dropping the temperature of the air.
My lungs burned and my skin was flushed red. "Tell me again.... How running in the cold.... Is going to help me?" I asked Kaden who was half naked. Stupid werewolf heat, stupid cold, stupid winter.
"Fleeing skills are just as good as fighting skills. If you were over powered then you could get away by running." He answered with little effort. At least he didn't sound like a dying calf.
My legs were stiff as I tried to push through the cold. "You're a wimp." I scowled bumping into his shoulder.
"Well at least.... I'm not a dork." He chuckled keeping his even pace.
"Touché." I shook my head with a smile on my face making my ponytail whip back and forth.
"Amelia!" I stopped in my tracks almost slipping on the icy ground.
"Dad?" He jogged over to us staring at Kaden who nodded immediately and began jogging again, "What is it?" I tried to keep my tone level as I spoke to him.
"I need you inside tonight."
"But-" I began but he raised his hand cutting me off.
"It doesn't matter. Either you come in willingly and stay or I chain you to a wall. Is that clear?" I nodded.
"Crystal." A sad expression crossed his face as I jogged back towards the pack house.
How could he do this to me? Throw me into this mess, with no explanation, and expect me to obey? "You know I'm doing all this to protect you right?" He told me from behind. I stopped and spun around, fury running through my veins.
"Just like lying to me for sixteen years about what I am!?" I stomped towards him and clenched my fists, "That was protecting me right dad?" I searched his face for any answer.
"I did tell you because-"
I scoffed, "I don't need any of your excuses. I should have known, so I could train and prepare for my change. The other people up for alpha have been training their whole lives. I-" I stopped and realized why he didn't tell me, "You didn't want me to become alpha."
His jaw dropped along with his mask. I saw the truth stretched out along his features. "No. I didn't because I wanted you to have a normal-"
"A NORMAL LIFE?!" I screamed. "How Dare you! My life is never going to be normal, it isn't meant to be. You should have told me a long time ago." I turned away and stomped towards the pack house shaking in anger.
"I was just trying to protect you. You have to understand that."
I stopped and didn't even bother turning around. "I was born to lead dad, and you aren't going to stop me."
~
"You're father is a complete wreck." Kaden told me flopping down on the bed next to me.
"I know."
"The only reason why he wants you to stay inside is because tomorrow is a full moon. The younger wolves can already feel it. He just doesn't want you to get hurt." I sighed turning over to lay my head on, sadly, his clothed chest. He arms came around me immediately.
"Can you feel it?" I asked. He was quiet, as I rose with his chest. His heart beat was steady, my ears listening to it carefully. "Yes." I gripped his shirt in my palm before releasing, leaving the fabric crumpled.
"Your father said he is going to let Megan into the territory tomorrow." I shot up looking him dead in the eye.
"How did you-"
He smiled, "I may of suggested to invite Megan to make you feel better. Your father agreed. I am quite persuasive."
Relief washed over me. We can find him. We can really find him. I smiled laying my head back on his chest. "Goodnight." I said quietly.
"Goodnight Lia."
Sebastian's POV
My wrists ached as I continued to attempt at pulling free from the silver chains. Caine shook his head watching me carefully. I whined releasing the tension and backing into the wall.
"Is Barron speaking to you?" He asked his hand resting on his chin.
"Yeah. He wants out." So did I. I hated being chained up like this, "These chains," I said lifting up my arms, "suck."
"You're improving in your control, but with the full moon tomorrow I mustn't take any chances." I nodded understanding. He handed me a glass of water after I wiped my forehead. He was careful not to touch the silver himself.
"I'm expecting two scenarios tomorrow." My eyebrow shot up.
"You mean two things that could happen tomorrow?" I asked.
"Exactly. Either Barron takes control and you storm a rampage into a town full of people or; the full moon will help you merge with Barron."
"I'm hoping for the counter offer."
He smiled, "I believe you're not the only one."
Amelia's POV
"Come on Amelia, keep up!" Oh shut it you werewolf you. I thought stabbing imaginary daggers into Kaden's back as he ran in front of me. It was too freaking cold to run anywhere close to the outdoors, but he insisted.
But it was the second run today and Megan hadn't shown up. My insides were anxious with anticipation and the new unmated wolves, according to Vanessa, were giving me lust filled looks. Apparently during full moons female scents were strong, attracting the entire male population. I shivered in disgust.
But looking back to it now Kaden seemed to be acting the same way. Oh God.
This morning he wasn't in bed when I woke up, and when I entered the kitchen he had tensed up gripping the counter with so much force I'm surprised it didn't break.
Greg had pulled up beside me jogging lightly. "Your guest has arrived." I smiled turning around and running back down the path. Kaden didn't clue in until a few moments later but it didn't take long for him to catch up.
"MEGAN!" I yelled seeing her by the steps holding her suitcase and pillow. "We're having a sleep over?" I asked.
"Yup." She said popping the 'p'. "And we are going to stay up all night." She said with a wink.
Kaden just shook his head opening the door for us. "My room is just up the stairs." His eyes stared into mine for a moment, his pupils blown wide.
"Megan! It's so good to see you. How is your mother?" My mom asked giving her a small hug.
"She's still rough around the edges but she'll be okay. She's still trying to locate our lost treasure." I raised an eyebrow. Lost treasure?
"Well you ladies get settled in. Our chef is preparing pasta for dinner." I grabbed Megan's suitcase and began the trek upstairs with her trailing behind.
She shut the door behind her as I placed her bag on my bed. "I've been waiting all day for you." I said giving her a hug.
She smiled. "We can't do this until the moon is at its highest. So I spent all day preparing the spell."
She unzipped her suitcase pulling out some gross chunky liquid. "I thought you said we weren't sacrificing cats or babies." She rolled her eyes.
"The last thing we add is going to be your blood, which because of your sweet innocence, completes the spell." She pulled out an old beat up book, that had that awful old book smell, "Then we say these words which I believe is Latin, and then we spill it onto a map." She pulled out a huge ass map and laid it on the floor. I crouched next to her listening to her instructions.
"If it works the only place the blood won't touch will be where he is." I looked at the map of RavenHills picking out all the places I had been.
"What if he isn't in this area anymore?" I asked.
"Well then we do the spell again only on this map." I eyed her suitcase to see she had brought more than one spell to use.
"You came prepared." I commented picking up another bag of the off coloured liquid.
"You bet your ass I did. You're welcome."
It was silent for a few moments as she put everything away, placing her suitcase under my bed. "So that Kaden guy is cute." I looked at her in shock, "Okay okay. He's totally gorgeous." I laughed. "Is he single by any chance?" That made me lose it. I clenched my at stomach I was laughing so hard.
"He's all yours." I wiped the corner of my eye dramatically making her punch my arm.
"Shut up." She said running her hands through her hair.
"What about you and Jake?" I asked her, a little confused about her sudden attraction to Kaden.
"Don't get me wrong, I really like Jake. I just don't think we are going to last."
There was a knock at the door revealing Kaden behind it Megan just stared, he was shirtless again. "Don't you own a shirt?" I asked eyeing his naked chest.
"Oh trust me sweetheart you don't want me to put a shirt on." His eyes searched mine for signs of attraction. He was not wrong, he was well built. He knew that he had an effect on the both of us.
"He's right." Megan whispered to me making me roll my eyes.
"Dinner is ready." I nodded following Megan out the door. I stopped in front of him making him tense.
"Put a shirt on you dork."
~
"Well that dinner wasn't awkward or anything." I commented closing my bedroom door behind Kaden. Megan crouched at the bed pulling out the suitcase.
Kaden just watched as I helped her set up. "We have to do this at midnight." Megan said. Spreading out the map.
"Well we've got a while." I said quietly.
"I sadly won't be able to attend." I looked up eyeing Kaden who was gripping the wall. His shirt was slowly darkening as it began to soak in his sweat.
"Are you alright?" I asked standing up to approach him but he backed up.
"I don't want to hurt you. Good luck." And with that he was gone.
Sebastian's POV
Sweat coated my skin and my lungs burned because of the cold air. "Caine get back." I panted, "I don't want to hurt you."
"You must fight this. Control, take control."
A growl erupted within my chest, "Get back." My claws extended from my fingers and ripped into the stone beneath my hands. The moon poked out from behind a cloud it's light cascading through the only entryway. I watched it as it slowly made its way to me. I wasn't going to be able to stop him from taking over, I could feel him. He was ready and hungry with bloodlust.
"SEBASTIAN!" Caine screamed as Barron took control, ripping the chains out of the rock walls. We growled teeth lengthening, nails scrapping the rock surface.
"I'm in control now." He growled. It was like I had been pushed into autopilot, my body was no longer mine as he completed the shift. We fell onto all fours as Caine shifted himself, he was going to try and most likely fail, at stopping us from leaving.
Amelia's POV
"It's time." Megan told me handing me the knife. I grimaced as I dragged its sharp edge across my palm.
"Ow." I spit through clenched teeth. I held my hand over the bowl watching my blood drip down my arm. "How much blood do I-" she shushed me making me close my mouth.
She closed her eyes holding her smelly spell book in her hands. "O hominem hunc et invenietis map." The mixture within the bowl began to bubble as she repeated the spell again.
"Find me Sebastian Peters." She said picking up the bowl. She opened her eyes and tossed the mixture over the map repeating the words again. My heart was pounding inside my chest and the liquid moved around the map. We were both quiet for several moments as a circle appeared at the edge of the map, "That doesn't make sense." she said as her brow furrowed.
"What? What's wrong? Where is he?" I asked grabbing onto her forearm.
"He's here."
The same confused look clouded across my face, "What?"
"He's here." She repeated and on cue there was a scream from outside. I rushed out the door and pounded down the steps. Launching myself out the door. I saw him, his iridescent green eyes finding their way to mine. It was him. The same smelled I had smelled on Caine the other night filled my nose. He knew where he had been this whole time.
There were eight wolves blocking me from him. He growled noticing it too. I pushed myself forward, pushing the wolves out of the way only to have Kaden step between him and I. Kaden bared his teeth ears flattening.
"KADEN NO!" I screamed catching his attention. He brown eye boring into mine, "It's him Kaden." I spoke softly knowing the moon was affecting his judgement. Recognition flickered in his eyes but it was too late, Bash had pounced.
"NO!" I screamed. I was pulled back by a pair of strong arms witnessing the horror in front of me. "BASH STOP!" I yelled thrashing, "KADEN!" Tears were streaming down my face. "Let me go!" I demanded.
The crushing of bones was heard as Kaden fell to the ground. "NO!" I screamed going limp at the knees. He wasn't moving, he wasn't moving. Bash growled again as I finally broke free from the strong grip, running to Kaden's now human form.
"Kaden." I whispered kneeling next to him, "Kaden?" Blood was pouring out of his nose and the huge claw marks that had been dug into the skin of his chest. "Kaden please." I sobbed wiping my nose with the back of my bloody hand.
Kaden's breathing was extremely shallow. He was going to die and there was nothing I could do.
Sebastian's POV
We watched her carefully as she stroked his face, tears flowing endlessly down her face. "Why is she upset we protected her from the threat?" Barron asked. "She chose him over us!" He growled making our physical form do the same.
"I will not be disrespected in such a manor!" Amelia's sea green eyes flickered to me full of hatred and disgust, but Barron was in control and he wanted her to admit that he was more powerful than her. She stood to her feet making us growl again. She never faltered as she walked towards us one step at a time. He dark red hands held up slightly in caution.
We bared our teeth, yet she came closer burying her face into our, my fur. Barron howled in the back of my mind as a pain shot through my entire body.
Amelia fell to her knees bringing me down with her, each of my bones cracking and sliding into place. Soon she was touching my bare skin me sitting in her lap. I breathed in her scent sending trails of fire through my body. Mate.
"I missed you so much." I whispered wrapping my arms around her and bringing her closer. She was so thin. I just noticed as my hands travelled down her spine, making guilt and sadness wash over me. She was still crying her salty tears dripping down my back.
"I thought I would never see you again." She sobbed.
"I know... And I'll explain everything later." She shook sucking in each shaky breath.
"You hurt him." I breathed in her scent again calming my body.
"I-I wasn't in control." My skin was hot everywhere she touched me.
"Well you are now." she whispered pulling back slightly. I pulled her onto my exposed lap and cupped her face between my hands. Mate. Mine. Was all I could think as I stared into her puffy eyes.
