27 - A Gust of Wind
She could still feel his finger on her cheek, but when she opened her eyes, he was not there.
A gust of wind swirled and a dusting of snow lifted into the air and brushed past her face.
Turning away, she found herself facing again the shape hanging from the branch above. She could see its face, swollen in death and nearly as dark as the tree. She knew that face. She knew it well.
