CHAPTER 40

"We've found Bucky," he said looking at me. I froze and the wires that were in Bruce's hand slammed the floor. "You've found him?!" I said excitedly. "We've found him, but he's under control," Fury said, looking at me annoyed.

Right, that was the main problem. "Where is he?" Tony asked. "He's in New York, right now," Fury said, looking at us. "Like he is in New York, right now?" Bruce asked in disbelief. "Yes he is," Fury said, annoyed. He projected a map onto the wall through his phone. There were dark dots in some places, especially Europe. 

"What is this?" Tony said, leaving his suit aside and paying attention to the map. "This was where he has been for a couple of- months," Fury said, looking at the map. "Now he is here, with another mission," Fury said.

"What mission?" Bruce asked anxiously. "I don't know but people are beginning to notice that the Winter Soldier is back," Fury said. That name was something Bucky had no words of explaining.

"Who found him?" I asked.

"One of my agents, Nia Delaney," Fury said, looking at me. "Do you guys have any plans in catching him?" I asked. "Do you?" Fury snapped back.

"You see I would go and get him, but no one lets me leave this tower," I said looking towards Tony annoyed. "You are literally pregnant with 3 kids, what do you expect," Tony said, rolling his eyes.

"Well, we could send ourselves to try and get him," Bruce added. "That is true," Fury said. "Ok then I guess you guys should start looking for him" I said. "Of course, boss," Tony said, annoyed. I headed up to my new room, while they talked and called the other avengers.

I had a new room because the other room had too many memories for me and I couldn't handle being in the room seeing all the memories that were there. I was put next to Pietro's room just in case I needed anything. 

I passed towards Bucky's and my old room to see the door closed, this door had been closed for 5 months. I was eager to enter and look through things, when I left the room, I didn't even take everything, I just took what I thought was enough.

"I guess coming in to look for my things won't hurt," I said, opening the door. A wave of emotions hit me as I saw everything was a mess. The last day I was here, I was so angry at everyone and everything that I made a mess.

I entered the room as scents came in through my nose, the same fresh mint smell of Bucky making my head spin. I reached for the dress to open it and get some clothes, if they even fit me. When I opened the door a little white box fell onto my head. 

"What the heck-" I said looking down at the floor. The box was small with a bow on it. This was definitely not mine. I turned the box around to see a little note behind. "To Kaia: Love, Bucky" 

This was probably the Christmas present he never had the chance to give me. 

I looked at it holding it in my hands thinking about letting it go. I had a gut feeling to take it, but I had no idea what was inside. I quickly slid it onto the pocket of my hoodie, well Bucky's old hoodie, and quickly left the room.

I entered my new room and placed the box on the table, looking at it from a distance. "Kaia?" I heard from the door. "Uh- yes?!" I said rushing over leaving the box out of sight. I opened the door to see Nat standing there. "What were you doing?" she asked me, coming into the room. "Uh- I was cleaning my room" I said looking at the messy room I had.

"Right.." Nat said, looking around. "We got a notification from Jarvis, that you were doing something that, let's say, is not good for your own sake," Nat said, looking at me with a smile. "Huh?" I said, trying to act confused. "You left the door of your old room open Kaia," she said, raising one of her eyebrows. 

"I- I needed to go in," I said looking down. "That's doing nothing good to you," she said sitting down in my bed. "Well, they told me they found him today," I said, trying to smile. "Kaia, he probably doesn't remember anything," Nat said regretting what she said.

I looked down and then looked back at her. "Do you not think I don't know that?!" I said sitting down in the corner of my bed placing my hands on my head.

"Kaia- I didn't mean to," she said, placing her hand on my shoulder. "We will find him, but you can't expect Bucky to come back, the winter soldier will probably be the one that comes," Nat said, taking a deep breath.

She wasn't wrong, but it still hurt me to admit that.

"Avengers, welcome back," Fury said looking at us. "Today I bring the news that we have found Bucky Barnes, well now the Winter Soldier, and we need to go get him," he said. "So suit up we are leaving now," Tony said. They all went to change and Steve seemed particularly excited to go on this mission.

Tony came up to me and said "Kid, I cant promise you anything but I do promise that I'll try my best to find him" Tony said smiling at me. "Thanks," I said, giving him a hug.
