Chapter 5
Winter Rose's pov
I was dressed in a heavy purple cloak waiting for Flurry to move her tail. She was being escorted to the station by a guard. She wore a thick, fluffy pink cloak. I rolled my eyes and saw the train pulling in.
"Hey Rosie, you still have that Bakery?"
"Yup!"
"Great! The Missus is begging to get some of those chocolate cream puffs of yours."
"Dark chocolate cream puffs with sea salt cream?"
"Yes! I would like -"
"Shut up already!"
I threw Flurry Heart a nasty glare, making her squeak and flinch in fear.
"So sorry about her Mrs. Opal. I'll send two dozen cream puffs on the house within the week. Or, if you've time tomorrow, you can come by and pick them up."
"That'd be fantastic. I can't come by tomorrow, but I'll be there the day after tomorrow."
"Sounds good. I'll see you then. Tell Ruby I said hello."
"No problem."
Mrs. Opal started running back to the castle, allowing my to turn around and see the train already leaving. I flew toward the train, and boarded just as the conductor was being yelled at by Flurry Heart. I shoved her cloak in her mouth and gave the poor pony our tickets.
"So sorry about her Mr. Moon."
"It's quite alright Rosie, dear. I'll let it go this once. Ponyville?"
"Yes."
"May I preorder three dozen strawberry shortcake cupcakes with a white chocolate frosting? Little Starry Blossom's birthday is coming up soon and she really wants your cupcakes."
"Sure no problem. I'll discount them and put it as a rush order."
"Oh, no need for that."
"Please, I love that little girl she's like a little sister to me. I don't mind it."
"You sweet angel. Starry Blossom is going to be so happy."
Mr. Moondust hobbled back to the front of the train. I sat in my seat and and took out my notebook. I started writing down the two orders, the discounts, and the dates they're needed by.
"So, the Royal Insect owns a bakery? How pathetic. Your royalty, why would you ever want to run a bakery?"
"Because I like baking and making everypony happy."
"Does Auntie know about this?"
"Sort of. Speaking of, I have to visit Canterlot Castle to get the last of my stuff."
Having noticed her confusion, I tactfully pretended I didn't. She wouldn't understand, even if I explained it in itty bitty, simple words. The train stopped in the Canterlot station, so I had Flurry get off with me. I bought her a much lighter cloak to cover her before leading her to the castle.
"Hi Rosie!"
"Hey Miss Twinkle!"
"Hey Rosie, ready for our rematch?!"
"Sorry, but no. Maybe next time Jackpot!"
"Why is everyone treating you like that?"
"Like what?"
"Like your one of them. Like your not a princess."
"They are treating me like a princess. But they're also treating me like a friend, because I know each and every one of them. I treat them nicely and they treat me the same."
She went silent and followed quietly.
"Hey Mr. and Mrs. Twister."
I greeted the two guards at the main entrance to the castle.
"Hello sweetheart. Who's your new friend?"
"I am Princess Flurry Heart."
"Oh. Winter Rose?"
"I'm going to be babysitting and educating her in Ponyville. I'm just here to gather the last of my stuff."
"Go right ahead dear."
I past the doors with Flurry walking right behind me. I saw Mom on her throne, reading and signing documents, as usual.
"Hello Mother."
"That's nice sweetheart."
I rolled my eyes, and felt my ears slump to my head. I walked down the huge halls littered with guards and servants. Even with so many ponies here, it feels so empty and lonely. I soon reached my old room and walked inside.
"I'll just be a few minutes."
A thick layer of dust layered over each surface in my room. That alone showed how long I haven't lived in the castle.
"Hey Rosebud. Need some help?"
I heard Flurry squeak.
"Hey Drake, I would love some. Here, notebooks and writing supplies go in here."
"Gotcha!"
He snapped his fingers and all my hidden notebooks and scattered quills and ink were in the bag, neat and organized.
"Where to next, oh Royal Highness Winter Rose?"
"Kitchens please, Royal Confidant Draco."
We snickered at he teleported us to the kitchens. I dug out the last two whisks, three massive mixing bowls, and a cutting board before he teleported us to my bakery. Flurry Heart looked sick.
"Hey, you okay?"
She threw up into a bin. I laughed nervously and helped her upstairs. I laid her in her new room. She fell asleep right away. She did have a long day after all.
I flew downstair and saw Draco flirting with the ever oblivious Apple Spark.
"Hey Drake, Sparky. Want a treat?"
"Yes please!"
Whenever I offered a "treat" I was really just testing a new recipe on them. They give me good, brutal, honest feedback and not sugar coated bs. I flew to the kitchen area and brought out a cake.
"Okay so, this is a strawberry cake, with a dark chocolate ganache. There are buttercream rosettes at the base and the top with sliced strawberries on the top rosettes. Then, these are a dark chocolate cream puff. The cream inside has white chocolate and mint."
I sliced them each a piece of cake with a cookie on the side. They started with the cake.
Draco: I love the flavor combination of dark chocolate and strawberries, but I feel, appearance wise, the rosettes on the bottom are overkill.
Apple Spark: I agree. They look super classy on both top and bottom though. So if you keep them on the bottom and not the top, your not going to b able to put slice strawberries on them. In that scenario, you can get a big strawberry and slice it to be on the top and center of the cake.
Draco looked at Sparky with pure love and admiration. I smirked behind my hoof.
Draco: I love this puff. I'm not gonna be a good judge on this one.
Apple Spark: I think the dark and white chocolate work well together, but I think the mint is being a little overpowered by the chocolate.
"I thought that too. Dark chocolate's bitter sweetness is strong, but I wasn't sure if the light mint taste was in my head or not. As always, thank you for your honesty."
I handed them both a doggy bag to take home to their families. After they left, I prepared a plate of cake and two puffs for when Flurry Heart woke up. I took the dirty plates to the kitchen sink, making a mental note to wash them later. I didn't have anything I really had to do, so I started on my custom orders. Eventually Flurry made her way down, wrapped in a blanket.
"What are you doing?"
"Making the custom orders I received. Are you hungry?"
"Not for anything you made."
"Oh, I guess I'll to throw those out then."
I gestured to the plate behind me. Her eyes grew wide and quickly turned her nose up at it. I turned back toward my baking. I heard her take the plate and scurry away to her room.
"Good night, Flurry Heart."
