Note :: Flurry Heart and Winter Rose are both roughly five and seven years old. Winter Rose being the younger one. For this chapter Winter Rose is above, but with Twilight's hair colors, eyes, and wings. I can't art, so I can't edit it; sorry for the inconvenience 

Winter Rose's pov

"Winter Rose!"

I giggled as I watched Aunt Cadie flew around Flurry's playroom looking for me. Mommy let me come over to play with Flurry, but she's mean to me and always wants to play with her Daddy and his friends. I'd rather play hide and seek with Aunt Cadie. 

"Come out, come out wherever you are, you little sneaky little philly."

I giggled again and flew to the toy chest and hid behind it. Aunt Cadie wasn't anywhere now. I crept out slowly, and looked around for her. 

Third person pov

"Aunt Cadie?"

Winter Rose was quickly snatched from behind and pulled up in Cadence's hooves. She had been flying above her niece as she flew behind the chest. Winter Rose squealed with laughter as she was tickled. 

"No! Stop!"

Cadence showed mercy and stopped tickling her. 

Winter Rose's pov

My tummy growled loudly. 

"Aunt Cadie is it lunch time?"

"I suppose so. Go get your cousin and Uncle and I'll meet you three in the dining room."

"Okay!"

I flew to the ground and started running to where I remember Uncle working with his friends. I reached the big door with Mr. Comet and Ms. Lilypad stood outside the door with their metal armor on. 

"Hi! I need to get Uncle Shiny and Flurry! Can you open the door please?" 

"Hey sweet girl. Sure thing, go right ahead sugar."

Mr. Comet held the door open for me and I ran in. Flurry was watching Uncle Shiny talk to his friends. She saw me and huffed. 

"What do you want?"

"Aunt Cadie said to get you and Uncle Shiny for lunch time."

 "I don't need you to do anything. Go away. Daddy! It's time for lunch!" 

Flurry flew over to Uncle and sat on his armor. 

"Okay Flurry Heart. Hey Rosie. Ready for lunch?"

"Yeah! Lunch is in the dining room! I'll see you there!"

I ran out of the room and down the halls, running into someone's legs. 

"Winter?"

I looked up and smiled widely. 

"Hi Mommy! Are you joining lunch time?"

"I am. Come on now."

I ran next to Mommy as she walked down the hall. Aunt Cadie just put the last plate on the table. Uncle Shiny and Flurry walked into the room right after I sat next to Mommy. While we ate the yummy salad Aunt Cadie made, Flurry gave me mean looks. 

"Winter, Apple Breeze is coming for your flying lessons. Thanks for watching her guys."

"It's no trouble Twilly. By Rosie, we'll see you later."

I ran after Mommy to the her pretty carriage. I hopped around the carriage around Mommy as we flew over Ponyville and then Canterlot. I jumped off the carriage before we reached the ground. Mommy stopped me with her magic, bringing me back to the carriage. 

"You don't need to rush sweetheart. I know you're excited, but stay in the carriage."

I jumped around the edge of the carriage until we landed. I jumped out, but was picked up by Apple Breeze. Apple breeze is my flying teacher. She said that she had two mommies called Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash. Apple Jack had a HUGE apple farm and Rainbow Dash was the fastest pegasus in the whole world and made lots of rainbooms and was the captain of the Wonderbolts and was the ultimate cider drinker champion! 

Third Person Pov

"Hey little buddy! Ready for our lesson? Oh, hi your highness! Hello."

"It's good to see you Applebreeze. I'll be in the throne room filing paperwork if you need me. Good luck sweetheart."

Twilight kissed Winter Rose's head before walking inside. 

"Let's get in the air buddy!"

Winter Rose's flying lessons were mainly just her and Applebreeze playing tag in the air. The normally on ground game played in the air, forces Winter Rose to think and fly in ways she wouldn't normally wouldn't think of trying. Flurry Heart was invited by Twilight to join her "lessons" but she declined with the excuse she wasn't interested in shared lessons with any pony. 

Applebreeze being the daughter of the famous flying master, Rainbow Dash, learned how to fly from the very best. She learned how to teach her students how to think and strategize subconsciously. 

Winter Rose flew as hard as she could and managed to tap her back hoof. 

"Hey, you got me squirt! Let's take a break."

Applebreeze guided the exhausted philly to a checkered blanket on the ground with some lemonade and cucumber sandwiches. 

"Hey, pipsqueak."

Winter Rose looked at her favorite teacher with a sandwich in her mouth.

"The Wonderbolts are hosting a peewee flying contest next week. Every flying teacher can send one or two students to the contest to basically show off their pupils. I want to enter you. None of my other students are as gifted in flying as you. Will that be okay with you?"

"Will Mommy be there?"

"Yeah! Your Mom, Princess Cadence, Prince Shining Armor, Starswirl the Beard, and even King Thorax will be attending! There will be food, drinks, games, and prizes! Can I put your name down?"

"If Mommy will be there, yes! I want to show Mommy how good I am at flying now!"

"I love the enthusiasm, but remember our lessons on good sportsmanship. If you show up boasting and smug, nobody will want to play with you."

"Right! I have to be nice to everypony and not act like meanie Flurry."

Applebreeze smiled sadly at her favorite student. Princess Cadence showed up at the castle over a month ago with her little, in Applebreeze's opinion, apple sucking brat in tow. While Cadence spoke with Twilight, Applebreeze watched over Flurry Heart, and what she saw broke her heart. 

Flurry Heart treated poor Winter Rose terribly. She acted like the greatest pony who ever walked Equestria. Winter Rose's lessons were cancelled that day, so she was running around in the grass smelling the flowers. Flurry Heart pushed her countless times into mud, water, and even into a statue paying respect to the previous princesses Celestia and Luna. She lost a tooth on the last one, but she was always ready to share her sweets and rewards with her bratty cousin. 

"That's right. Never act like your cousin. I'm pretty sure that her teacher is entering her into that contest. Her teacher is my friend, Swift Wing. So you'll have to watch out for sabotage during the race. There will be obstacles and sharp corners, I don't want you to hurt yourself."

"I'll be great! I'll practice all the time with you and Mr. Sunshine!"

Sunshine was the pegasus cleaner in her flying room. He was a retired racing coach, working a relaxing cleaning job for Princess Twilight. Winter Rose had a room inside the castle designated for flying incase the weather outside was to bad for flying. 

"Mr. Sunshine would love to help you, I'm sure. I think we enough break time now. I'll bring down some cloud rings to practice sharp turns. I'll come over every other day this week to help you practice."

For the next three hours, they both practiced Winter Rose's turns. Afterward, she fell asleep on the blanket. Applebreeze carried her inside while servants cleaned up their blanket and clouds. 

"Applebreeze, how was her lesson?"

"It went smoothly, your highness. I signed her up for the next Flying Championship for tots, and she's real excited for it." 

"I bet. I can't wait to watch her participate. Here's your pay and I'll take her from here."

Twilight took Winter from Applebreeze and cradled her child in an outstretched hoof. She handed the pale yellow pegasus a bag of coins and walked her to the door. 

"I see you next time. Safe travels."

"Good night your highness." 

Applebreeze started to fly off, leaving the royal family alone. Twilight started walking to her daughter's room, nuzzling the top of her head gently. 

"Applejack and Rainbow Dash had such a dependable and incredible child. I'll take Winter to Little Cheese's bakery tomorrow for doing such a good job."
