"Don't smile. Don't smile. Please stop. I can't stand lies."

"Sir!" Namjoon and Jackson had caught the attention of an officer who greeted them.

"So, what is it that you wanted to check?" Jackson asked, unable to hold back his curiosity any longer. Namjoon spared him a glance and looked back ahead, hand gripping the piece of plastic tightly in his hand.

"You’ll see," he replied and Jackson pouted. They walked past a few officers that bowed at them politely. Namjoon and Jackson were their superiors, after all. Both made a sharp turn and entered another hallway.

At the end, they saw the familiar door that they entered before. "Checking on the previous evidence?" Jackson questioned once again and Namjoon simply nodded. His eyes remained hard and serious. Jackson felt it and he himself became serious.

They finally reached the white door. Namjoon gripped the metal handle and pushed it wide open.

They entered the room and were met by a lady dressed in white coat. Hearing the footsteps, she turned around to greet them.

"Soowa," Namjoon greeted and the lady smiled.

"Hey, Namjoon!" Soowa chirped. Her eyes shifted to see Jackson. "Hey, Jack!" She smiled and waved at him. Seeing her bright smile, Jackson blushed and his heart started pounding fast. Namjoon noticed and tried his best to not break into a fit of laughter.

"Ah, yes...hey, Miss Choi," Jackson greeted back. He rubbed the back of his neck and lowered his head, trying to cover his heated cheeks.

"Gosh! How many times do I have to tell you to not call me that? Just call me Soowa, Jack," Soowa replied and giggled a little. Jackson got more embarrassed and his cheeks heated up like the oven.

"Yes, Soowa," he stuttered and facepalmed mentally at his own awkward behaviour.

"See? You can say that name." Soowa laughed and Jackson laughed awkwardly with her. As for Namjoon, he felt even more awkward. He cleared his throat, loud enough to catch the two's attention.

"Soowa, we are here to check on the evidence from last time," Namjoon said, his tone remaining serious. Soowa tilted her head in confusion.

"The bear incident? I thought it was a closed case?" Soowa asked and Namjoon shook his head in reply. Looking at Namjoon's serious face, Soowa knew she mustn't waste her time asking questions. She nodded. "Follow me," she said.

They went into another room. Soowa climbed up on a little stepladder to grab the evidence. It wasn’t hard to spot the huge shotgun. She took it and walked back to Namjoon and Jackson. "Here it is," she said and placed the shotgun on a metal table. Namjoon nodded and started scanning the gun.

"What is it?" Jackson asked as he walked up to Namjoon, standing beside him.

Namjoon picked up the shotgun and started examining it, not wanting to miss anything. Then his eyes landed on a small carving. "Found it," he whispered. Jackson and Soowa frowned.

"What did you find?" asked Soowa. Namjoon placed the gun back on the table and pointed at the carving.

"This, look at it," he said. Jackson and Soowa moved in closer to get a better look at the carving. A middle dot, and two swords crossing over it. Namjoon took the badge and placed it on the table, next to the gun. "It's the same as this badge logo," Namjoon continued, pointing at the badge.

"The man who died knew the hunters from last night. There is a connection. But I don’t understand why you’re so serious about it," Jackson pointed out. “It’s probably just a group of people who hunt illegally, we’ll catch them in no time.” Jackson was underestimating the entire situation, and Namjoon shook his head at him.

"That's not it," he said. Jackson looked up at him and was shocked when he saw his eyes. They held emotions Jackson would never forget. Yearning and loss. Namjoon only ever looked like that when his parents were mentioned. But how was all this related to Namjoon's parents? Jackson didn’t know. "Remember the blue gem?" Namjoon asked.

"Blue Gem. An anonymous organisation, rumours say they kill a lot of people and never leave a trace. People started naming it Blue Gem, but no one knows why and they were too scared to explain," Soowa stated and Jackson let out a frustrated sigh.

"Namjoon, we talked about this. I thought you promised not to mention this anymore." Jackson said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"My parents were–"

"Your parents died in a car crash! How many times do I have to explain it to you! Get this delusional idea that they were murdered out of your head!" Jackson shouted. He was fuming. Soowa flinched at his sudden outburst, but Namjoon remained calm. He understood why Jackson was angry. He just didn't want him to get hurt again.

"Jackson, hear me out," Namjoon said and Jackson groaned in disbelief.

"I am done with this," he snapped and started walking away.

"My father was investigating Blue Gem before he died in that car crash," Namjoon said, loud and clear, so Jackson would hear. He stopped his tracks and his eyes widened. "And that logo, I remember it so clearly in my mind. I saw it before when I was young, somewhere in his case file. Somehow, after a week of investigating, my parents got into an accident." Namjoon continued, knowing he had caught Jackson's attention.

"That isn’t evidence. You’re just making an assumption," Jackson said, slipping his hands into his pockets. Soowa nodded. "What about the driver who died when his car crashed against your parents’ car?" Jackson asked, still refusing to believe him.

"That driver, a few days ago I found information about him. Surprisingly, he doesn't have that much information related to him. Some information about him is forged. After a few minutes of investigating, it was clear that this person never existed in the first place," Namjoon explained as he took the badge, examining it once again.

"What are you trying to say?" Jackson asked, even though he knew exactly what Namjoon meant.

"He was just a pawn," Namjoon said and tore his gaze away from the badge to look at Jackson. He was starting to believe him. "The police closed the case easily, saying it was just an accident but it just doesn't click. Our house was rummaged through. The data in my dad's computer was completely wiped out and his files are long gone," Namjoon continued.

Jackson grumbled, knowing that he had no choice but to believe him. He walked up to Namjoon and took another look at the shotgun.

"Jackson, please–"

"So, this logo is our starting point?" Jackson asked, looking up at Namjoon. His eyes widened, but slowly a smile formed on Namjoon’s face.

"Thank you," Namjoon breathed and Jackson simply nodded. Soowa watched as the two discussed the case with a smile on her face. Suddenly her phone rang and she quickly took it out. Seeing the caller ID, she smiled and a pink tint was visible on her cheeks.

"Hey guys! I need to take a call. Let me know if you need me," Soowa informed the two, who only nodded absentmindedly. She smiled and walked out the room. Then she took a deep breath and picked up the call. "Hey, Jimin!" she chirped, a smile plastered on her face.
