May POV (still 13)

I went over to Abby's house for dinner tonight.
My family walked over and we were greeted by Addie.
"Come in," she said, looking at the floor.
Winter might like her. I thought.
I walked inside the house and were lead to the dining room.
"Dinner will be out shortly." Addie said, sulkily.
We sat down.
Abby came in the room.
"Hey girl!!" I said as she walked in.
"Hey." she responded.
"What's up with your sis?" I wondered.
"Just being herself." she responded ambiguously.
Whatever.
Dinner was being brought to the table.
It was meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Yum!
I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I looked at it. It was Winter.
She can wait. I decided. I declined the call and went back to talking to Abby.

"Where were you?" Winter asked me the next day at school.
"Dinner with Abby..."I responded.
"Oh."
"Oh my god I'm so sorry I shouldn't have invited you! I'm so stupid!!!" I realized.
"No no no, it's ok,"she said, looking at the ground.
"You sure?" I asked.
"Yea.." then she walked away.
Well, she seems different today. I wonder why...
Winter POV
I walked away from May because it was coming. Our separation, our friendship going to waste.
Why did it have to happen to me?
Maybe I should search for more friends...
I saw Addie, sitting alone. I decided to sit with her.
"Hello, I'm Erica, but I prefer the name Winter."
"Addie."
"How do you like our school?"
"It's nice."
Awkward silence.
"Wanna hang out after school?" I asked.
"Sure."
Then I have her my phone number and my address.
It looks like I got this all figured out.
