Kanya woke up. Poofoo, her dog, was howling. She put on her fur jacket and headed outside into the cold Alaska air. Next to the log cabin was the dog pen. She saw Poofoo and went to comfort her. But she didn't see Lala, her sister's dog. "Madge!" She called. She ran inside, Poofoo at her heels. "Madge! Lala's missing!"

Madge jumped out of bed, put her jacket on and ran outside. "What do you mean Lala's missing?" She asked.

"Look! Her leash is ripped, and there's tracks towards the mountain."

"We have to find her! Let's go!" She pulled out the sled and hooked Poofoo up. She went around to the other dog pen, and grabbed Whoosh, Paddy, and Sniff, some of their other dogs. They hooked up the other dogs to the sled and set off.

"Madge, this is a terrible idea!" She said as they followed the tracks.

"Kanya, she can't be far! And we can just follow the tracks."

"Oh, I don't know." They followed the tracks until the came to a river.

"Let's cross." Madge said.

"Let's not cross." Kanya replied, shaking with fear.

"Go!" Madge yelled at the dogs. They whimpered as the crossed the freezing cold river.

"We have to help them!" Kanya said, after the crossed. They both got out, and started wrapping blankets form the sled around them. "When we get home, you're going to be in so much trouble.
