Karina sat there, waiting for Giselle to settle back, her heart beating as she tried to think of how to explain the impossible.
But it was too late and she let out a squeak as Giselle finally met her eyes giving her full attention. Karina leaned in closer still, looking around the room quickly to make sure that no one else could listen.
"I've been reliving the same day. This is the third time-today's count," she whispered, her voice strained and tired, staring directly into Giselle's eyes with an intensity that made the other girl blink in surprise.
Giselle just let out a dry laugh, shaking her head. "Nice joke, Karina." She turned away, casually taking her book out of her bag, clearly not believing a word of it.
Annoyed, Karina grabbed Giselle's collar, yanking her back around with a force that made Giselle's eyes widen.
"I'm serious!" Karina hissed, her desperation clear as she stared into Giselle's startled face. "I just predicted everything you were going to say and do-don't you get it? I know what's going to happen next!"
Giselle's shocked expression softened, and she sighed, gently tapping Karina's hand to make her let go.
"Okay, okay," she said, trying to calm Karina down.
"I don't know what's going on with you, but what you predicted... that's explainable, alright?" She leaned back, her voice calm, like she was talking to someone having a mild breakdown.
Karina folded her arms and raised an eyebrow, her annoyance growing. "Explainable? Really?"
"Yes." Giselle nodded, her voice steady. "I greeted you because, well, you're the class president. That's what I always do. And the students... they always greet us, especially you. You're popular. It's not hard to guess that much."
Karina stared at her, lips pressing into a thin line. "That's not the point, Giselle," she muttered. "It's not just guesses. This is different."
Karina flipped her history textbook open with a sharp motion, shoving it in front of Giselle's face.
"This!" she hissed, pointing at the lesson plan.
"Mr. Lee is going to teach this today." She pushed the textbook aside and showed Giselle her notes, already filled with details from the class that hadn't even started yet.
Giselle frowned, glancing between Karina and the notes. "Wait, how do you already-?"
"I've already taken these notes, Giselle!" Karina cut in, her voice rising slightly. "This exact class, this exact lesson, I've heard it all before. And today, Mr. Lee, who's usually grumpy, is going to be in a good mood."
Giselle blinked, taken aback by Karina's intensity. "Okay... that's-"
"Wait!" Karina gasped, her eyes widening with sudden realization.
"Math! We're going to have a surprise math test today. I forgot about that!" Her voice was tinged with panic now as she grabbed Giselle's arm. "I know it, Giselle. It's going to happen. Again!"
Giselle stared at her, torn between confusion and concern. "Karina, you're seriously freaking me out. This... doesn't make sense."
Karina let out an exasperated breath, slumping slightly. "It doesn't make sense, but it's real! I'm living the same day over and over." She leaned in closer, eyes pleading. "You have to believe me."
Giselle bit her lip, clearly struggling to comprehend what Karina was telling her. "Okay," she said slowly, still unsure. "If all of this really happens, I'll believe you. But... let's just wait and see."
Karina nodded, feeling a mix of hope and dread as they waited for the inevitable to unfold.
True to Karina's prediction, Mr. Lee entered the classroom with a noticeably lighter expression than usual. He greeted the class with a quick nod, and Giselle's gaze flicked to Karina, who sat calmly, watching her. As Mr. Lee began to teach, Giselle's skepticism began to crack. His lesson followed the exact same outline Karina had described.
Giselle, without looking at Karina, subtly took her friend's notes and began reading them, all while listening to Mr. Lee's lecture. Her mind raced, comparing the words on the page with what was being said. Everything matched perfectly, down to the smallest detail. Her heart began to race as confusion and disbelief flooded her.
Minutes passed in tense silence as Giselle continued to check every word. Finally, she lifted her head and glanced at Karina, her face now serious. Karina held her breath, waiting for some reaction, any acknowledgment.
Giselle's gaze lingered, hard and calculating. "What... the hell?" she finally muttered under her breath, more to herself than to Karina.
Karina, feeling a wave of relief wash over her, exhaled shakily. "So, you believe me now?" she whispered, her voice soft but urgent.
Giselle didn't answer immediately. She set the notes down carefully, then leaned back in her seat, staring ahead as if trying to process the impossible. After a beat, she looked at Karina again, her eyes serious but filled with concern.
"I don't know what's happening," Giselle admitted, "but something's definitely... off."
Karina nodded, her heart still pounding. At least now, she wasn't alone in this bizarre reality. "I'm not crazy, right?" she asked, almost afraid of the answer.
Giselle shook her head slowly, though doubt still lingered in her expression. "No," she said quietly. "But this is... something else."
