Chapter 1: Blushing and Crushing
I sat across the classroom and gazed at Red. Which probably was a little weird but I couldn't help it. He was focused on his work right now so it's not surprising that he didn't notice. But of course, Bex did so I wasn't surprised when I heard from behind me...
"All you do is stare and you wonder why you're failing"
I snapped out of my trance kinda embarrassed I had been caught. I looked down at my paper blushing from embarrassment. I tried to do my work but I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. Bex was right. I was not paying attention whatsoever. I glanced at my classmate, and best friend, Zavier with pleading eyes for help. He looked at me and rolled his eyes before looking back at his paper.
He was no help and I wasn't going to pass this class. How I had gotten this far through college is unknown.
Eventually, the bell rang signaling that it was time to go and leave our tired and most likely hungover teacher alone. I set my paper that I filled with random guesses on her table with the other ones and left. I was done for the day so I headed up to my dorm where my dog, Bear sat patiently on the bed.

I walked into class early the next day. I may not pass this class but at least I'll have perfect attendance. The teacher stops me on the way to my seat and tells me to see her after class. I won't lie I'm slightly worried why but I decide not to dwell on it.
Class rolls by excruciatingly slow and I go up to the teacher.
"So Imp I was looking at the paper you turned in the other day and..." she paused for a moment only making me more stressed, "you got a 100%"
"What?!?" A voice behind me shouted. I looked behind me only to see Zavier with the most unbelieving look on his face. I tilted my head slightly offended that he was so surprised.
"I will admit that due to your previous grades I may have thought..." my teacher said as I turned back to her, " that you were a bit of a lost cause but now that you've proven me wrong, I can see that you just needed a push in the right direction. That is why I am assigning you a tutor."
"What?!" that came from me this time, but it was reasonable. Who would want to tutor me? Trust me I've asked plenty of people. They've all refused...the only person I haven't asked is Re- oh shit.
"I asked Red this morning if he would be willing to tutor you for extra credit and he immediately agreed," she said making me smile a bit. I know he only agreed for the extra credit but I couldn't fight back the thought of him just wanting to meet me.
"You'll be staying an hour after class with him this week and if we see some improvements we might extend it for longer." the more she talked the more the internal panic set in. If I don't do well in class I'll continue to fail and lose my only way of talking to Red. Also, there's a huge chance that I'll embarrass myself. I pushed those thoughts aside and tried to think of the positives. If this goes well I'll get to finally be friends with Red and ill pass my class.
And yes I'll settle for just friends. He's the only person in my classes with that I'm not friends which is the reason he caught my attention in the first place and his personality too of course.
"-so you'll be here after class tomorrow?" she said as I nodded my head realizing I had forgotten she was talking. We said goodbye and I headed back to my dorm. I crashed on the bed and fell asleep peacefully.

I totally procrastinated on this tbh. I started this at the beginning of Christmas break and it's literally almost summer right now. Let's hope that the next chapter doesn't take as long.
