WH 3
Then around lunch time to work off all that food I would shift to wolf and run till I saw mountains. I had been running around the woods for about two hours when I started to feel uneasy. Wolf sniffed the air and went silent, she wasn’t sure either. We walked as though we were stalking prey, slowly making are way up a small embankment. As we reached the top another snapping sound.
She growled as quietly as a 250lb wolf could. The silence raised the hair on our back side. Looking behind always made me think of scary movies and I hated them. But like any stupid white chick we looked behind to see what was there…..nothing. Sighs then turning back to start walking again, and there he was. At least 300lbs of pure alpha male muscle, red and tan fur streaked across his body. Huge white paws held a even bigger frame. If I had taken another step we would have been nose to nose. He stood there for a moment, without even so much as a blinking of the eyes.
Then without warning he sat down, this was a non-threatening posture for wolves. His way of saying I’m not going to kill, mate or play with you. Golden blue eyes looked back at me, I still hadn’t moved and really didn’t want to. Wolf hadn’t decided if she wanted to growl at him or just run like hell. This was the first time I had seen another wolf before. So needless to say it was a huge shock to my system when an alpha was sitting no more then a foot away from me.
“What are you doing?” His wolf voice was deep and a little scary. My wolf reminded me to keep it simple and short, no reason to let him know what were doing. “Nothing” It came out much quicker then I would have hoped for, and he caught the scared tone in it as well. “Really? Then why haven’t you sat down yet?” again wolf reminded me to keep it short and to stay calm. “Because I don’t want to sit.” I replied a little less scared and more cocky. I couldn’t do normal right now it just wasn’t going to happen.
What sounded like a laugh came from him, and it made me more uncomfortable. “What’s so funny?” I shouldn’t of asked that’s another horror movie death trap. “Nothing really, do you know where you are?” It was like he was setting me up, I thought about the question for a minute then answered. “The woods!” Smartass answers didn’t always work but I was already pass the point of calm and collected. “True, but your in my woods……where is your mate?” The question I didn’t want to answer.
Wolf growled, it was to personal for her. His ears twitched from side to side, and a tail smacking the ground every so often didn’t help any. “That’s really none of your businesses, now is it?” I started to get feeling back in my legs and moved backwards nice and slow like. I was about to turn around when I caught sight of another wolf laying down in the brush, just about twenty feet away. Then another one on the other side standing with his head lowered. ‘Aww crap’ there’s more than one, should of known that was gunna happen. The alpha didn’t make any motion for his pack to move or do anything for that matter, instead he came up behind me.
In a panic mode I swung around and bit him on the neck. His pack freaked out and began to come closer and faster, but within seconds he called them to stand down. I had my mouth around his throat, and was to scared to let go. I could stand here with my teeth pressed against his flesh, or I could let go and have his pack rip me limb from limb. ‘Ohh what a good day for me!’ I was screaming at myself inside, and wolf was starting to shake. His whined under my mouth and slowly started to talk to me again. “If you let go, they will not hurt you.” I rolled my eyes, yea ok! “Bullshit!” I screamed he whined a little more. “I give you my word, they will not move a muscle.”
My jaw started to cramp and at this point I really didn’t have much of a choice. I slowly let go of his neck watching the wolves around me, who by the way were within slashing reach. He stood up to his full height again, and I remembered why I didn’t want to let go. I swallowed what felt like a soft ball rock, and waited for him to call the kill order. It never came, instead he had them move away from me. “Forgive me, I should of known better then to come up so quickly…..what’s your name?” I must of looked dumb standing there with my mouth open and my body shaking. “Wolf” I said quietly, trying to steady my breathing. “Wolf! Your name is what you are?” He seemed a little put off by my answer. “I don’t know what else to tell you, but I need to be going now.”
I tucked my tail in and started for the biggest opening I could find. He didn’t even pursue me, which was a little heartbreaking at first until I remembered I didn’t want to be in a pack. I hauled ass running as fast as I could to get home. As I made my way down the hill I could see John’s small pickup coming up the driveway, I ran in front of it. He hit the breaks and opened the passenger side door. “Edon!” I whined and jumped in and lay down as flat as possible. “It happened didn’t it?” I whined louder. John rubbed my head and then looked in the rearview mirror. “By any chase was the alpha, oh I don’t know steal grey?” He looked down at me, and I growled.
“Well then there’s more than one.” We pulled into the driveway and I jumped out. Sure enough there was a steel grey Alpha standing at the top of the road. He was much bigger than the red alpha, but was lacking something. His four male pack mates slowly started to appear. It would only take them seconds to get to us, and we didn’t have enough power between the two of us to fight them off. He let out a howl that made my skin crawl. All five of them came barreling down the driveway like a stampeded of wild horses. John yelled for mom, and she was ready with a shot gun, I barred my teeth and held my ground.
Somehow they were a lot faster then I thought and quickly gained the upper hand, mom took a shot at a large brown male but missed him by a hair. He responded by lunging at her. Only to get a fist in is face by John, sending the large animal to the ground. He didn’t stay down for long and he had a partner that was willing to tag team my family. Before my very eyes I was going to watch them kill my mother and my vampire. I exploded with angry and Howled at them while taking off running.
My plan was to have them follow me and leave my family alone, so far it was working. All of them were chasing after me, by orders of there Alpha. I cut through the woods and jumped a fallen tree. I just hoped he was still there. As I reached the last place I had seen the Red Alpha the grey swiped my back leg with his paw. He caught my leg and tore three deep gashes in it. I yelled in pain, blood poured out of my leg and down my very white socks. I kept running till I tripped while looking back. My body had so much momentum that it slid me ten feet before I came to a full stop.
I was pushed under a small bush that had thorns, it hurt but I was more worried about the males surrounding me. The alpha stepped through the males that face me head on, and just as he was about to either say something, there was a dark shadow that flew past my face and landed between me and the grey alpha. Red blurred my vision, and I took a breath. The two males growled at each other and snapped jaws. Jumping at each other and rolling on the ground kicking up leaves and dirt in every direction. They jumped back off each other and the red alpha stepped back towards me. Then without hesitation they began to spat words back and forth. “BACK OFF CAIN!” he said snapping his jaws. The grey barked back “GIVE HER BACK Salim, YOU ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH FEMALES!”
I couldn’t tell what was going to happen to me, if what the grey said was true, would I have to go with him? Or did I really matter how many females a pack had. These were the questions I could of really used from John. “I LET YOU HAVE PLENTY OF FEMALES, AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM!” The red alpha snapped back without missing a beat. “YOU SHUT YOUR TRAP Salim OR I’LL RIP IT OUT FOR YOU.” The red pack snarled and growled at his threat and were ready to rip him into small pieces. “YOU FORGET CAIN…..YOUR ON MY LAND!” it almost looked like the red male was grinning, as though he had already won this fight.
A corner of the grey’s face was bleeding, not like mine but enough that he felt it stinging. “YOU JUST WAIT Salim YOU WONT BE ALPHA FOR LONG, THEN WE’LL SEE WHO’S TOP WOLF!” He turned tail and headed out of the woods. I took a deep breath and relaxed a few muscles, only to have the tighten harder when Salim turned to me. “clever girl.” He said with what should have been a smile. I sat up putting most of my weight on my front paws and my other hip that wasn’t bleeding. Two shot gun shells were fired. “MOTHER!” I screamed getting up and taking off running again. I didn’t have time to think about my leg, I knew mother never fired her gun unless something was wrong.
I hurried through the woods and came out closer to the house, attacking my family were two of the wolves from the grey’s pack, looked like the same two mother and John had fought with the first time. Guess they didn’t like being beaten by a human woman and a Vampire. I bolted to the body slamming into the first wolf which was a large brown one. I sent its body slamming into a tree, then turned my attention to the second wolf who was a bit smaller but quicker. His coat was more black than white. I caught him by the throat and shook him like a rag doll, only to let go of him which sent him flying into the first wolf. I parted all four feet and made it look like my wound wasn’t killing me.
I growled the deepest growl I could muster, snapping my jaws open and closed making an echo through the trees. My goal was to make them think I could keep going with these wounds and not quit, when in reality I was about to pass out. It worked and they tucked tail and limped off, once out of sight I fell to the ground with a soft yelp. What I failed to realize was the red alpha and his pack were behind me. John jumped the four steps off the porch and picked up my body as it was changing back to human form.
My long black hair fell over my breasts and down my back. I had tan lines where my shorts were, purple sparkly toe and finger nails, cause mother said it made me more girly. “Get her inside Jonathan.” Mother put her hand out to help him up the stairs, then opened the door for him. Salim walked slowly up to the porch and sat down with a low whine. Mother turned to look at him. She still held the shot gun in one hand, and holding the front door with the other. “Alpha, we need to talk.” she paused looking into the house to see where John had placed me. Then back to the Alpha “in one hour, be dressed and ready.” She waited for him to respond. He closed his eyes and nodded his head. Then mother closed the door and came to me.
