WH 23
“Edon what are you going to do?” John asks, as his hand catches her face in the frame.
“John its not like it’s a hard decision” Her body leaning against a tree.
“Fine humor me” The video shakes, as he moves.
“I’m going to wake him up.” Shrugging her shoulders, my throat catches at the sad expression on her face.
“He may not want you, when he finds out.” John growls.
“That’s his choice, he has the right to know who he really is. Father should of never done that, I’m glad mom took me away. It makes sense why we never staid in one place for to long, I wont have Salim turn out like me. He’s better then that” He voice lowers, at the end causing my chest to tighten.
“So your fine with him rejecting you” Her eyes never lift, as she nods her head. The video cuts off, going black as I drop it to the floor. Cracking with the lightening that is slowly, moving away from the house.
What have I done……
Running out the back door, I head for the woods finding her clothes torn to pieces. Grabbing one I sniff it, as her scent is already lost from the wet fabric. Becoming frantic I run into the woods, the speed I have now has increased. Screaming her name, I beg for her to be close by.
“EDON!!” nothing not a sound stirs, as I run in a different direction calling for again repeatedly.
I can’t loose her, she is mine now….
Spinning in circles I have no idea, where to look or to go. All this rain is making her smell disappear like she was never here to begin with. She changed me knowing I wouldn’t be the same, knowing I could reject her. Why….
“EEEEDDDDOOONNNN” My fists collides with a tree, cracking the trunk.
~Edon~
I have effectually hidden myself, yet again. Everything from my name, birthday, age, social number and even they way I look has been changed, in order to keep out of his line of sight. I’ve moved all my money into a new account off shore, and moved clear across the states. Renting a loft in the city, is wear I now hang my hat per say. If I need to make a call I use a pay phone, or a prepaid cell that I toss right afterwards. My hair is now red and my green eyes have contacts that make them brown.
In the mists of everything, I have lost it all. Without the comfort of my family, I feel utterly alone. To pass the time I’ve gotten a job, working as a bartender. The pay sucks, but then again I’m not working for the money. Witch hazel helps mask my scent from other wolves, that just might be passing through. Clearing the counter off, while adding another bucket of ice to the cooler.
“Jenny you alright?” My boss asks. He’s a sweet older man, with a heart of gold. Jenny seemed fitting, since it was something I would never use.
“Yes, thanks” Nodding as I take the empty bucket into the back room. The rainy weather isn’t helping my mood, it’s a sickening reminder of that day. His eyes so dark and full of angry, the words he spoke….will never leave me. Pushing my deep red hair out of the way, I grab a dry cloth heading back out before the midnight crowed picks up. I’ve spent over a week here, cleaning the bar and pouring drinks. Watching as men play pool, and drink till they can’t stand.
Woman come in here to find themselves a good man, truth be told there is no such thing in a place like this. This isn’t were good men come, its where the lonely and heart broken come. A fitting place for me, I’d say. Another swipe around the counter, as a group of men comes in for their nightly drink off.
“A round of beers, little lady” The darker one of the group bellows.
“Sure thing” Grabbing a pitcher, filling it with the piss yellow delight. Setting it on the counter, they hand over a card to start a tab. Gunna be one of those nights, punching in the card numbers as I start them with a tab. Around 2am they check out, paying their bill before stumbling out happier then ever. Clearing my counter, I take the trash out before boss tells me to head on home. Clicking out I grab my jacket, before making sure my keys are still in the pocket. I don’t use the door to my place, it gives people an idea where I live. Instead I go down the back alley, jumping to the fire escape. Then its just a matter of walking to the top floor, before pushing my window open.
Dropping my jacket on a chair, I close the window. The light flicks on, as I see John sitting on my bed. There wasn’t a need to get a lot of furniture, so I opt for a bed, chair, nightstand and a tv.
“What do you want John. I said I’d call” Heading into my tiny kitchen.
“Your mother is worried about you, as am I” Pushing himself off the bed, coming to my side.
“I’m perfectly fine” Tuning the stove on, letting it heat up a kettle full of water.
“Yes, it shows” Looking around.
“What do you want?” Leaning my back against the counter, that has seen better days.
“Come home”
“You know I can’t do that” Looking at my feet, as my ankles are crossed.
“Why, because he might come around?”
“John you hear what he said, you even saw the way he was. He’ll kill me if given a chance. No I wont do that to mom” Shaking my head, as if it will convince myself somehow.
“He’s not going to kill you, he lo…”
“Don’t you dare say it, I will not be told that word anymore. Its nothing but pain” Shaking my finger at him, while I get in his face.
“He’s looking for you”
“Ha, I bet he is. Probably wants to finish me off, like dad”
“HE never killed your father, he had him brought before the council law. He’s being tried for his crimes, something you had nothing to do with”
“He doesn’t see it that way” Turning around as the kettle whistles for me to come.
“Edon”
“That’s not my name” Pour the hot water over coffee flakes, as I pour in milk.
“He’s got a search party looking everywhere for you” The sound of paper, causes me to look over my shoulder. Sticking it out to me, I take the paper.
“Son of a bitch, he has a reward out for me?”
“Yes, he wants you found.”
“That is sort of why they came out with a reward John. How long has this been open to wolves?”
“Five days, and its not just wolves”
“WHAT!”
“He’s allowing the whole world to see it, he wants you home” Crumbling the want add, I toss it into the trash.
“Like hell he does”
“What happened to you, your so bitter now. I thought you loved him?”
“No the man I loved, died the moment I sank into his flesh.” Stirring my coffee, as I drop two more sugars in. John sighs, running his fingers through tousled hair.
“Would you at least consider coming home?”
“No” shaking my head.
“Why are you being so difficult?” Growling as he grips my chairs arms.
“Because, its who I am.” Giving a weak smile, that even I don’t believe anymore.
“Your being ridicules, what if someone finds you before he does?”
“John I’d be safer with the Mafia, then with him” His eyes widen.
“You can’t really believe that?”
“To be honest John, I don’t know what I believe anymore.” Sipping the hot drink, as it slides down my throat I can feel it melting my heart.
“Edon…”
“Its Jenny, don’t start John. I’m in no mood to hear your sob story, I had a long day and I just want to sleep it off.” Its not a lie, and even though I don’t want him to go I don’t want him to see me like this. Without much will power I am luck I even get out of bed in the morning.
“Call me, when you can” Leaving a cell on the counter, beside me as his lips kiss my forehead. Nodding even though I don’t plan on using it, he walks out the front door. The eerie darkness with the mixture of the pouring rain, haunts my very soul. Drinking a few more sips, I place the mug in the sink before heading to bed. Only to stop and sit on the window frame, watching as the rain makes little droplets on the glass. The pitter patter of the drops, crying out for me.
No shower as my clothes drop to the floor, crawling into the warm bed I close my eyes. Praying for a dream without him, anything but that. But I am not so lucky as his face appears again and again, even when I will it to go away he comes back.
I work another two weeks, but the want add as me looking at everyone as a potential spy. Feeling uneasy I question my own thoughts, as I clear the same spot on the counter for the third time tonight. A man in the back of the smoke filled bar, sips his drink slowly as he watches me. His black hoodie covers his hair and side profile. Dark glasses don’t help with the facial recognition.
Handing two men their beers, I keep one eye on the man. Something isn’t right, he’s not looking anywhere else. Heading into the back, I ask boss if I can click out early. With a stomach bug, he nods telling me to go home and get some rest. Quickly I grab my things, slipping out of the bar. Mystery man is already gone, as I step onto the street sidewalk. The man is nowhere to be seen, as I make my way back home. Quickly my legs spring reaching the black iron stairs, walking all the way up pushing my window open. Sighing heavily as my feet hit the floor, a smell hits me in the face hard.
Spinning around as a pair of glowing eyes, makes every part of me freeze. As the beings foot steps into the light that comes in from the street, I nearly scream as I see him. Quickly my feet spin me around, trying to go back out the window as an arm snakes around my waist pulling me back in. The sound of the window slamming shut, causes me to cry out. He’s pushed me up against the closets wall, his eyes glowing into my face. My lip quivers as I start to shake, holding my hands up to protect myself I beg.
“Please…please don’t…don’t kill me” Tears the size of over powering rain drops, fall to the floor. His breath is hotter then I remember, as his hands grip me. Pushing his face into my neck, before I hear purring.
“Edon” He whispers, kissing my neck. Whimpering more, I feel like he’s doing this to toy with me.
“Please, just don’t kill me. I’ll leave I wont come around anymore.”
“NO!” His body pushes against me harder.
“No more running, I’ve looked everywhere for you.” Cupping my face, his eyes make me hold. My jacket is wet from the new rainstorm, pulling my body to his he walks to a light. Flicking it on, his eyes darken when he sees me.
“What have you done?” Holding a few strands of my hair, before raising my chin to look at my eyes.
“Your beautiful hair, your eyes their not the same….why? Why Edon?”
“That’s not my name” Breaking the eye contact with him.
“What? Yes it is your name is Edon” Turning me to face him.
“No its Jenny” His eyes darken, as he shakes his head in disbelief.
“No…it can’t be….you’re my Edon.” His body drops to his knees, pushing his head into my stomach. Gripping my back, helping to hold me to him.
“Stop” Crying more.
“No, you’re my Edon. What am I suppose to do without you, without this tummy” Kissing my bare skin as he has lifted my shirt.
“Or these arms” Pulling off my jacket showing the short sleeve shirt. Kissing the length of my arms.
“Your long legs, or your face” Looking up at me. At this point I’m a wreck, tears are pouring down dripping on my t-shirt. Slowly he rises, kissing my neck.
“What am I suppose to do without, your touch, your love, this nose, and eyes, your perfect lips” Each time he says a body part his lips trail over it. My mouth and temper get the better of me, as I croak out the only think that comes to mind.
“You’ll get a whore” He freeze as his lips hold to my neck, shaking his head vigorously.
“NO, I ONLY WANT YOU” Crushing my body into his, I can’t help but miss this.
“But you don’t you said so yourself” He drops my butt to the bed, glaring at me.
“I was mad Edon, I didn’t mean to say those things to you.” Looking away from him, he kneels in front of me again.
“Edon”
“My names Jenny”
“LIKE HELL IT IS, YOU’RE MY EDON” Cupping my face, so I have to look at him. His nostrils are flaring, as dark eyes swirl around as he tries to regain control. Closing my eyes, I can’t look at him.
