Suga

Suga was rudely woken up by the curtains of his shared room being ripped open, the man glaring at his friend. "What the hell, Daichi?"

Daichi glanced at the closed door before rushing over to Suga's bed, an uncharacteristically conspiring expression on his face. "Iwaizumi is in the shower so this is my one chance. It's your time to shine."

It took a moment for Suga's sleep-addled brain to catch up to the situation but when he did he smirked. "You mean - ?"

"Oh yeah. You made it to the final two."

This information got Suga to sit up with a stretch. "Why am I up first?"

Daichi threw a shirt at his friend before taking a seat on his own bed. "Lack of substantial evidence."

Pulling the shirt over his head, Suga glared at the smirking face of Daichi. "Who am I up against?"

A snort came from the brunet. "Oikawa."

Suga scoffed, walking towards the door with a glare firmly planted on his face. "My love for Kuroo is true and pure and to compare it to the likes of Oikawa Tooru? I am deeply hurt." He paused with his hand on the doorknob, glancing at Daichi over his shoulder. "Lack of substantial evidence, huh? We'll see about that."

Daichi kept a straight face until the door closed behind an annoyed Suga. Once he was alone in their room he broke into snickers, pulling out his phone to send a text of warning for what he had set in motion. He waited a moment before exiting the room to follow in Suga's footsteps, joining the majority of their friends in the common space. Daichi caught Akaashi's gaze as the brunet settled onto one of the couches, the younger man not bothering to mask the accusations and annoyance in his eyes as he was once more jostled in his seat due to the way Suga was constantly adjusting his position on Kuroo's lap in a bid to get comfortable. Unable to resist sending a smirk and a wink Akaashi's way, Daichi did feel a bit guilty when Akaashi's expression darkened as Suga's elbow hit him again.

After Suga finally seemed to have settled down, the only movement in the common rooms was the friends mindlessly scrolling on their phones and the occasional snort of amusement. That is until Oikawa came skipping down the hallway, pausing at the threshold to glare at the couch occupied by Kuroo, Suga, and Akaashi.

Not willing to let his work go to waste, Daichi nudged Atsumu, motioning subtly for the man next to him to watch the interactions happening on the other couch. Kuroo had made eye contact with the glaring brunet in the threshold, replying with a quiet smirk and a tightening of his arms around Suga's waist. Atsumu's eyes widened when he saw what was going on, now paying rapt attention to see how else this would unfold.

Suga seemed to have noticed Oikawa's glares too because he snuggled even closer to Kuroo, batting his lashes slowly. Oikawa scoffed loudly, drawing the attention of everyone else in the room as well due to the theatrics behind the action. The others quickly picked up on what was happening and Oikawa, sensing he had everyone's attention, opened his mouth to directly confront the cuddling pair.

"While you two do make a cute pair of lovebirds, please save the sappy romance for after breakfast. You're ruining my appetite and I don't think Akaashi appreciates all the elbows being thrown at him." Oikawa shifted his gaze to Akaashi, the pitying smile on his face fake but the sadistic glee in his eyes very real. "You know, Akaashi, that if he pisses you off too much you can always just dump him - preferably on his head on the floor - and you and I can cuddle, right?"

To his credit, Akaashi managed to mask almost all his murderous intent when he met Oikawa's gaze with false calmness. "Thank you for the reminder, Oikawa-san. I would love to take you up on that offer but it seems as if all the cuddling spots are taken in this room. So..." Akaashi glanced to his side, his real rage and fake serenity visibly shifting to match the sadistic glee coming from Oikawa. "Your bed or mine?"

Oikawa's grin turned real as he strode across the common area towards Akaashi, hand outstretched to help him off the couch. When he got close enough to touch Akaashi a hand snatched his wrist and prevented him from making contact. Oikawa blinked at the hand's owner in surprise, meeting Bokuto's nervous smile.

"I've been told I am a great cuddler, 'kawa! Let me prove it to you." Not waiting for a response Bokuto turned and tugged Oikawa towards the threshold once more. "Come on!"

The common room was silent for a moment as everyone processed what just happened, the quiet broken by Kuroo's nervous laughter. "Am I the only one confused about what just happened?"

"You of all people shouldn't be, Kuroo-san."

"What?" Rather than answering Kuroo, Akaashi pocketed his phone and got off the couch to stalk towards the side door of the cabin. "Akaashi, wait - " The door closed rougher than expected and Kuroo cursed, making Suga move off his lap so he could go after Akaashi. Suga snatched his wrist once he was standing, drawing his attention back to his former cuddle buddy. "Suga - "

"Akaashi likes his space when he is mad and trust me, he is probably livid after I kept elbowing him. Let me apologize to him in a few when he has had his time to himself." Suga tugged Kuroo back onto the couch, this time releasing his wrist and keeping his distance from the other man. "Let's figure out what we are going to do with our remaining days first, okay?"

Kuroo hesitated, eyeing the side door for a moment before sighing, sinking further back into the couch. "Yeah, okay. We only have seven days left, let's make the most of it."

Iwaizumi chose that moment to join the group in the room, towel around his shoulders and a look of resigned confusion on his face. "Do I even want to know why Oikawa and Bokuto are whisper arguing while wrestling in the hallway or should I just ignore that?"

"Ignore it."

"Good enough for me." Iwaizumi took the spot on the other side of Kuroo and took out his phone to send off a text. A moment later everyone's phones dinged. "I just texted you all a link to the site of this laser tag place in the area. It has a course like a paintball arena but it is with laser tag instead so we don't need to bring any equipment or anything. Figured that could be fun to check out."

"I'm game." The twins both agreed at the same time as Suna and Hinata.

Daichi snorted. "Me too. I think we should go today, it seems like some of us have a lot of pent up frustration and beef with one another so this could be a good way for them to get it out." He glanced down at the link once more, rereading the information. "We should probably leave soon, it is a bit of a drive."

"I'll tell Akaashi!" Kuroo was up and out the door before Suga could grab him again, closing the door to the cabin full of lost friends.

Atsumu narrowed his eyes at Suga's pout, kicking his brother's thigh to get his attention. Once he had Osamu's - and subsequently Suna's - attention Atsumu filled them both in on his theories in a hushed tone.

"I'll tell Oikawa and Bokuto." Hinata volunteered, handing his Switch to Kenma before going down the hallway where the aforementioned duo were still fighting. He found them in the doorway to their shared room, Bokuto holding Oikawa in a headlock while the brunet attempted to grab and pull his captor's hair.

"Let go of me! He is playing dirty!" Oikawa hissed, almost reaching Bokuto's hair with his flailing.

"No! This is almost over, let it end peacefully."

Hinata cleared his throat. "Uh, guys?" Instantly the fighting duo released each other and took a few steps to separate, turning in unison to see who was talking to them. "I came to let you know that we are going to do laser tag today and are going to leave soon."

Oikawa gasped, rushing past Hinata. "We've got to discuss our strategy! And plan revenge!"

The red head blinked in shock at his hasty exit, turning to Bokuto for an explanation. Bokuto shrugged. "Him and his boyfriend have a...unique...way of showing their affection. You'll understand when you're older." He clapped Hinata on the back, keeping his hand on his shoulder as he steered him back to the common room with a massive smile. "Come on, we don't want to miss the fun, do we?"

When Hinata and Bokuto returned to the common rooms it had been decided without them that the group would be heading out within a half an hour. As the friends got ready to leave they discussed who would be traveling in which vehicle and with who. Once they had decided to take three of the four vehicles they took to the cabin and which car everyone would be riding in they split up and took off, Daichi, Osamu, and Iwaizumi the designated drivers.

Daichi glanced at his passengers through the rearview mirror, a feeling of unease swirling in his guts as he couldn't help but feel as if he made a mistake. His passengers - Suga, Kuroo, and Atsumu - seemed none the wiser to his inner turmoil, the three of them engrossed in their own activities; Suga resting his head on Kuroo's shoulder, Kuroo scrolling through something on his phone while mumbling to himself, and Atsumu watching the other two like a hawk. Daichi sighed and returned his eyes to the road ahead, resigning himself to the fact that while he set something in motion that morning with his actions that meant he set something in motion .

And now he has to live with the consequences.

Luckily, a highly competitive game of intense laser tag is just the thing to get his mind off his potential mistake.

The other two cars pulled into the parking lot at the same time as Daichi's and all the friends piled out to congregate outside the small building where they would be given their gear and instructions to discuss what the teams would be while Suna - who had called ahead to reserve their time - went to confirm with the employee and inform them that they had arrived. They had barely narrowed it down from having multiple teams to just two, avoiding arguments by ignoring the bickering between Suga, Oikawa, and Bokuto.

"Okay, since Iwaizumi-san was the one to suggest this it makes sense that he would be one of team captains." Everyone nodded in agreement with Akaashi. "So why don't we pick the other team captain and they can pick their teammates schoolyard style?"

"Why not Daichi? He was the one to suggest coming here today." Suna shrugged, having returned to the group as Akaashi was speaking.

Nobody had any objections to that so they all quieted down as the two appointed captains talked amongst themselves to decide who would be on their respective teams. A couple moments later the captains addressed their potential teammates once more, announcing who would be on what team.

"Alright, we've decided." Iwaizumi clapped his hands to get everyone's attention. "On my team I'm going to have Akaashi, Suga, Oikawa, Hinata, and Osamu."

"So that means I have Bokuto, Atsumu, Suna, Kenma, and Kuroo. Suna rented the place for three rounds so best two out of three wins, the losing team treats the winning team to dinner on the town tonight. Any objections?" Kuroo raised his hand, staring at the gathering of the opposing team. Daichi sighed, knowing Kuroo was about to say something headache inducing. "Yes, Kuroo?"

"I wish I was adenine so I could be paired with U." He winked at the opposing team, hands coming up to make a heart in front of his chest.

"Oh, my god. Stop talking, you cringefest." Kenma groaned, accepting Bokuto's understanding pat on the shoulder.

"What? I'm just psyching out the competition. Only a heartless monster would dare to try and tear up a love this pure."

"Then I guess I am a heartless monster because you are going down ." Oikawa sniffed, breaking his glare on Kuroo when he turned around to start heading towards the starting point of the games.

"Like you did last night?" Kuroo seemed to realize his mistake a moment too late when all eyes turned to him, most wide open in shock, three narrowed in annoyance and anger, and one in resigned exasperation, having long accepted that his childhood best friend was a complete moron. "Wait - "

"Come on, bro. Let's stop talking for once, yeah?"

Atsumu let out a low whistle, stage whispering to the rest of their team as Bokuto wrapped a comforting arm around a pouting Kuroo's shoulders. "Ya know it's bad when Bokkun is tellin' ya to shut up."

"Now if only Kuro would listen." Kenma grumbled, knowing his friend would inevitably try to fix his constant mistakes from the morning and wind up making a bigger mess. He bit back a sigh of frustration, stuffing down the slight guilt he felt about his part in the current turmoil in his friends' relationship. "His pouting better not make us lose."

The friend group gathered in the small building, listening to the employee explain how this version of laser tag worked while they got their gear on and secured it. They waited for the last safety check of the arena to be completed before they were allowed to enter, being reminded they had five minutes to strategize with their teams before the first round would begin as they adjusted the ear pieces they were given, the ones Suna requested as to up the competitiveness between them all.

With that reminder they were released into the arena and immediately separated by team, both groups heading to their home base where they had the privacy to finalize their strategies. Daichi and Iwaizumi - both of whom are usually the more level headed ones of the group - could feel the excitement and got swept up in it, focusing their attention and energy on destroying the other team as they once more went over their plans of attack.

When the buzzer sounded to signal the start of the first round, both teams were ready to take out the competition within the fifteen minutes they were allotted. None of them wasted any time in enacting the plans they agreed upon, spreading out to hunt their opponents in stealth and secrecy.

The stealth and secrecy lasted all of three minutes before Atsumu's screech could be heard through the ear piece. "I've been spotted!"

Everyone could hear through their earpieces the sounds of the lasers going off as portions of the two teams met in battle. And since both teams could hear all communications happening, they all heard when Kuroo joined his teammate with a one liner, his smirk practically audible. "You must be fluorine because I can't seem to get away from you."

A tired sigh was the first response, followed by the resigned voice of Akaashi. "Really, Kuroo-san? Enough with the chemistry puns, focus on the game. Or do you want to be the one to foot my dinner bill tonight?"

A muttered curse from Kuroo caused his team to snicker before they sobered up, realizing they would have to help pay that bill as well. And nothing is a better motivator than fear, something the whole team and their bank accounts felt when hit with reality.

"Show no mercy, Kuro."

"Wasn't planning on it, Kenma. They are gonna get the Rainbow Road treatment."

Upon hearing those words the whole arena felt the competitiveness amongst them collectively rise and the games then truly began. The friends were all so focused and determined to win that snarky and sassy comments between them fell to an unprecedented low.

After a grueling and bloody fifteen minutes the first round was over, Iwaizumi's team being declared the victors. They took five minutes to breath and hydrate before starting the next round, this game not taking the allotted time to strategize before the buzzer sounded as they had used their break time to do just that.

When the buzzer declared that the second game officially began both teams wasted no time in setting off on the path to victory, mercy no longer in their vocabulary.

To avoid Atsumu's fate from the start of the last round, Suna camped out in the tree with the best coverage and vantage point, sniping out his enemies with startling efficiency. He was about to continue his kill streak with Suga, the poor bastard deciding to camp out under his tree when he noticed Kuroo approaching Suga, both of their weapons aimed at the ground. Suna was curious as to where this was going, remembering the conversation he had with Osamu and Atsumu that morning about the latter's theories regarding the two.

"Wasn't sure you were going to show up."

Suga snorted in amusement when Kuroo came to a stop next to him. "Trust me, this is a conversation that needs to happen."

"Any particular reason you chose here and now to discuss our relationship status?" Kuroo crossed his arms, his gun aimed at Suga's foot as he gave a cursory glance to their surroundings.

"This spot has good cover and yet nice vantage so we won't get sneak attacked or interrupted." Suga followed Kuroo's lead in sweeping the area, Suna swearing he made eye contact with the other man when his gaze turned to the trees above. This was practically confirmed when Suga started smirking before turning his attention back to Kuroo. "When are you going to propose?"

Kuroo spluttered in shock as he turned bright red, eyes widening. "Suga! Shut up! Someone might hear you!" When Suga laughed at his reaction Kuroo did not hesitate to take him out, shooting his chest plate. Suga looked up at him in horror and betrayal. "Ah ah ah, dead men can't talk. You gotta go to homebase to get a new life now, babe."

"Oh, it is so on now, cheater ." Suga huffed, turning tail to head back to his team's base.

"I'm looking forward to your revenge!" Kuroo cackled after him before departing from their meeting point as well, leaving Suna alone in the tree to ponder what just happened.

The unintentional eavesdropper shook his head to clear away his thoughts, focusing back on the game as he decided to recount the conversation he witnessed with the rest of the investigative group after the final round. Having made up his mind and regained his focus Suna continued sniping out the competition for the remaining time they had in the second round.

When the second game ended, Daichi's team was declared the winner due greatly to Suna's sniping abilities. Both teams were once more drinking their water with their teammates, discussing their strategy for the third and final round of laser tag. Suna kept his eyes glued on Kuroo, watching as the other man never stopped staring at the other team with an undeniable longing and unease, shifting his weight between his feet. Suna didn't really care if he personally won or lost the game so he decided that he was not going to let Kuroo out of his sight during this final round, having a hunch that he was going to be trying to meet with his boyfriend, perhaps even to propose.

The friends filed back into the arena, tensely waiting for the starting buzzer to sound off. Once the buzzer went off the two teams enacted their strategies with nearly unmatched bloodlust, no one holding back. Suna, however, set out on his personal mission, quickly finding the subject of his stalking pacing anxiously near one of the borders of the arena. Wasting no time, Suna hid in a nearby bush and watched Kuroo for only a moment before he heard footsteps.

It seemed as if Kuroo heard the footsteps as well, seeing as he turned in the direction of the noise, his eyes lighting up and a dopey smile on his face. Suna strained his neck to get a glimpse of who Kuroo was talking to but he was unsuccessful, the mystery person managing to stay hidden behind a particularly thick tree. Biting back a grunt of frustration, Suna inched closer to attempt to eavesdrop on another of Kuroo's conversations, hoping to identify the other man by his voice.

As Suna slowly made his way closer, Kuroo and his unknown partner began to talk in hushed voices, much too quiet for Suna to understand. However, he could tell by the expressions and gestures Kuroo was making that it was not the most pleasant conversation, perhaps even an argument. Kuroo reached for his hidden conversation partner, his face falling when his hand was slapped away in rejection. Suna tried to hurry closer as quietly as he could, sensing the conversation would end sooner rather than later.

And he was right, the sounds of hurried retreating footsteps and Kuroo's voice confirming his suspicions. "Love, wait - "

Suna decided to risk it, rushing out of the bushes towards his teammate. "Dude! Where'd he go?"

Kuroo blinked in panicked shock at Suna's sudden appearance, glancing nervously in the direction the other man ran off in. "Did you hear anything?"

"No, just heard voices and ran."

Seemingly relieved, Kuroo smiled at his teammate. "He ran that way."

"Let's go." Suna and Kuroo took off together to hunt for the enemy, the former deciding to do some probing. "Why didn't he shoot ya?"

Tensing slightly, Kuroo shot a glance towards Suna before looking back to where he was running. "I guess my psyching them out earlier finally paid off."

Suna gave a noncommittal hum in response, yelping when Kuroo grabbed his arm and tugged him behind a tree. He looked in the direction Kuroo pointed in, quickly understanding why they had to hide seeing as a dozen yards away stood Akaashi, Suga, and Oikawa, mid discussion. Suna and Kuroo made eye contact before nodding at the same time, deciding to ambush the trio. Counting together, they jumped out of their hiding spot with matching battle cries and their lasers firing, the commotion they caused bringing the rest of the group into the mix as the final battle turned into an all out brawl.

As the dust settled and the friends stood together to catch their breath, the winner of the final battle and thus the competition was announced, Iwaizumi's team groaning in defeat. They walked as a group to put their gear away and thank the staff, discussing where to go for dinner as they did so.

Once they had all agreed on where to eat they once more piled back into the cars with the restaurant address plugged in to the GPS. It didn't take long before they got to their destination, the restaurant luckily was not too crowded so they were sat relatively quickly and with minimal bickering over seating arrangements. Suna and Atsumu had teamed up to subtly position those who did not know who the boyfriend was on one end of the long table, both eager to unpack the day's observations.

Atsumu skillfully started an argument between Kenma, Oikawa, Akaashi, and Bokuto, distracting that end of the table as Suna got the attention of Iwaizumi, Daichi, and Osamu, gesturing for them to lean as close together without being too suspicious. Once they were all ready, both Suna and Atsumu declared their conclusion at the same time.

"Suga ain't him."

"Ya sure?"

Suna nodded, relaying the times he spied on Kuroo during the games. He explained how Suga waited until he knew he had an audience before speaking and Atsumu jumped in, saying it was odd how Suga became the focus suspect and suddenly acted more lovey dovey and clingy with Kuroo, almost as if he was trying to draw attention away from the truth.

They sat in silence for a moment, listening to the growing argument at the other end of the table as they pondered where to go from there seeing as there is only one suspect left that hasn't been disproven.

"So...Kuroo and Oikawa are dating?" Iwaizumi failed to hide the hurt on his face at the thought of his long time friend dating another one of their friends without ever even mentioning it to him.

"Seems it."

"We still need to confirm and prove it, but I think that should be smooth sailing." Daichi reminded his friends. "But let's focus on enjoying our time with each other tonight, we can prove it tomorrow, yeah?"

The others nodded, relieved excitement flooding their veins at the realization of how close they were to finally unmasking Kuroo's boyfriend.

Tomorrow, they would put the whole investigation to rest.

At least, they hoped so.
