Chapter Three
-3rd Person POV-
"You're so stupid, I bet you failed your way out of school!" Cub said. He wasn't good at insults, but his words still stung in Xisuma's' heart. The admin didn't know why but he retaliated. Maybe it was for honor or maybe he was finally cracking under the pressure but regardless, he did it. "Yeah, well, you're so crazy that the insane asylum didn't want you!" Xisuma retorted. He was almost shocked at his own words but he knew that it was too late to take them back now. He didn't even know why he was fighting, though the next response gave him a real reason to. "Well, you're so horrible, I bet your parents disowned yo-" Cub retaliated, before realizing he had gone too far. Xisuma stared down at the ground, his mind ringing with words of the past.
"We don't want you here!" "You're a disappointment, you worthless imbecile!" "That's right, go cry to mommy, you big baby!" "Go annoy someone else!" "You're no son of mine, you're a crazy, idiotic freak!" "Your friend is such a baby..." "Mommy, a weird-looking kid just walked up to me!" "Nobody wants you here-- go away!" "Take him away, doctor, he's delusional!"
"Never, ever, talk about my family." Xisuma spoke quietly. Anyone else might have backed down but Cub just stared at him angrily. "Yeah, well, calling me crazy is a dick move. It makes me wonder what they taught you in school." Xisuma walked up to Cub slowly with an unflinching glare. "You imply that I'm stupid one more time. See what happens." "Yeah, okay, idiot." Xisuma tackled him in seconds and landed a punch square in the center of his face. Cub hit back with an uppercut straight to the jaw. Both of them had studied defense but while Xixuma had no clear method, Cub's fallback was boxing.
Just then, Xisuma kicked him in the stomach, sending Cub flying backward, to the edge of the large ravine not far away. Xisuma didn't know he was that strong, but right now he didn't particularly care. The edge of the ravine was crumbling apart, right where Cub had landed. "Cub, look out!" The warning was too late as the sand Cub was lying on collapsed, and he was falling. Just then, a winged figure flew up to Cub, grabbing ahold of his waist, and soaring upwards.
As they flew out of the ravine, the features of a short, slender man, with yellow hair, black eyes, a faded red sweater, and black pants could be discerned. "Grian? Since when did you have wings?" "Unimportant. You almost just died, Cub! What the hell happened?" "Xisuma and I had a disagreement, and started fighting it out..." "What did he even say?" "It was nothing."
Grian glanced at Cub in suspicion. "Then why didn't you talk it out, if it wasn't that bad?" Cub didn't know what to say, so instead, he stayed silent. After a while, though, he spoke. "I called him crazy, and- and he said that- that- that my family probably disowned me..." Cub lied, and Grian landed, staring at Cub in shock. "Well, um, both things were unforgivable, but, I say you just kiss and make up." "Whatever..."
"Oh! I know what will cheer you up! Hey, Etho, can you come over here please?" Grian asked, smirking devilishly. "No, don't do th- Heyyyyy Etho!" Cub said, cutting himself off as Etho walked over to them. "Hey, guys. What's up? Why did you call me over here?" Etho said, looking confused. "Oh, nothing, Cub here just wanted to tell you that-" "don't you dare!" Cub cut Grian off. He was blushing, and Grian knew why; Cub had had a major crush on Etho and had been poorly hiding it. Etho, however, was either clueless or didn't care. Either way, Grian had been wanting them to just get it over with and he figured that if he was going through the trouble of stopping a fight then he might get the satisfaction of starting a relationship. He knew that it was controlling and self-centered but if it didn't go well then he wouldn't have to keep trying to set them up. It was getting costly. "Whoops, my hand slipped!" Grian said, sending Cub tumbling into Etho.
Etho tripped from the momentum of the push, and they both fell with Cub on top. "U-um, s-s-s-s-sorry!" Cub said, both of them blushing. "It's no problem, Cub..." Etho said before Cub connected the space between them with a kiss. Etho looked shocked at first, before melting into the kiss. They pulled apart for air and saw that Grian was watching, almost in hysterics at the looks on both of their faces. "What- what's so- so funny?" Cub asked, starting to laugh as well.
"Y-y-y-your f-f-faces-" Grian cut off in a fit of giggles. Cub and Etho looked at each other, before joining in the laughter as well. After they had all calmed down, Grian asked, "So, how was the kiss~?" "GRIAN!" they both yelled in unison as Grian ran. Cub started chasing after him. "No, really, how was the kiss?" Doc asked, startling them all.
They hadn't realized that he was there. They didn't even know how much he had seen. "Cub's a good kisser, not gonna lie..." Etho said, making Cub blush. As they re-entered the building, Scar ran up to Grian, who, up until now, nobody had noticed was wearing bandages. "What did you do that for?!" Scar asked as he ran up to the three and hugged Grian around the waist.
It was not particularly unusual behavior from Scar, but Grian was still staring in shock as a light blush spread like wildfire over his cheeks. Scar, realizing this, asked, "Are you okay? You look like you're burning up!" Grian, seemingly devoid of the ability to speak, just nodded his head. "Oh no, my hand slipped!" Cub said, pushing him and Scar together as Grian had with Cub and Etho. Payback probably felt great in this instance.
They toppled down like living dominos, with two pairs of surprised eyes staring dumbfoundedly at one another. A big scar ran across Scar's face, hence the name, and to Grian, it looked adorable. Grian's face looked like it had endured its fair share of damage, though it had healed nicely. Scar and Grian got off of each other, blushing, and Grian started chasing after Cub on foot, before remembering he had wings and easily cutting Cub off. "Haha, caught ya!"
Doc stared at him, before asking, "Did you even realize that you were speaking in English again, Grian?" Grian stopped in his tracks, crashing into the wall head-on, and got back up, dusting himself off. "No, but- WAIT, I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE--" Doc stopped him. "Well, at least I don't have to translate anymore." "I guess so, Doc."
