Chapter 19
Fluffball's POV
Once Fluffball had reached the bottom of the tunnel, she swiftly made my way to showers where Uncle Victory Strike was as he struck the blue button in front of him and bone-chilling water poured onto the stone and dragon below. Fluffball jumped into the chilly water and grasped the slippery rock below her and pull hard on to the hard rock.
The torrent of water smashed into the two nestled dragons as Fluffball's uncle faced the dragons that had jumped into the main jacuzzi. As water streamed down his face, the other dragons were either getting into the main jacuzzi, getting something to eat or were cowering at the sidelines. Queen Snowfall was eyeing the chilling water as she realised that Uncle Victory Strike was in the best spot. She regally walk to the other side of the showers and enter from there, wincing at the sudden force that was pressing on her form. Uncle took the opportunity to push the green button and the floor gave way to a pool of icily water and ice rafts. The arrogant queen yelp in surprise and was plunge into the water below.
Uncle and I jumped on a floating ice sheet as the surprised icewing queen dragged herself out of the water. Fluffball enjoyed the feeling of the water washing over her body and her floppy fluff that made her appearance change drastically from a ball of fluff to a wet dog. Her uncle wore a calm expression that only appears when he is soaked with bone-chilling water.
The drenched queen scowl, "What just happened?"
"Simple, I just drop the metal doors and the water caught us and it is so cold that ice forms on the surface," Uncle Victory Strike causally explained before dunking his head into the water.
"I have to admit that this is all quite lovely," Queen Coral while she finished a slice of my uncle's signature burn cheesecake and jumped into the icily pool, " Wow, it is freezing in here. How can you two handle it?"
"Tolerance that was gained from years of doing this," Uncle said plainly before jumping off of the ice and walking over the amberine furniture to binge on the food on the table.
"Why are they here," Queen Snowfall said in her most dignified expression, pointing a serrated claw at Moonwatcher, Qibli, Luna, Jeboa, Prince Turtle and Princess Tsunami.
"Simple, they are staying and going to discuss with us on a few matters," Mind-breaker defended.
"About what" The annoying ice queen asked in her most obnoxious voice.
"The other continent; Pantala," Secret-Ripper pounced on the question before anyone else can respond.
Queen Coral took my uncle's place on the ice and leaned closer to me for some warmth as the ice sheet blot up and down. Once my uncle took his place next to Queen Coral after his meal, he faced the dragons in front of him and began to speak loudly against the crashing waters.
"As I was saying, I will come to Jade Academy to inspect the school and will give my personal opinions on the school. We also have to discuss the transfer of Pyrrhian Dragons that were brought into The Grim. There are several ideas from Mind Breaker, Mastermind, Singsong and Thunder-Claws whom all govern these dragons," Uncle finally went back to subject as he gestured to Thunder-Claws.
Fluffball noticed that Crimson was trying to wriggle out from her mother's grasp while she was distracted by the suggestion of the Thunder-Horn queen.
" In my humble opinion, the dragons that want to go back to their original tribes or if they want to stay in The Grim," the scarred dragoness said while downing a glass of red wine.
"Good idea, however what about the Pyrrhian and Grim Dragon hybrids," Singsong asked reasonably.
"Grim and Pyrrhian hybrids," Queen Ruby asked curiously.
"Great, now there are hybrids between prey and predators," Queen Snowfall sarcastically responded out of Fluffball's line of sight.
"Grim-Pyrrhian hybrids make up a small section of Pyrrhian dragons in The Grim. An example will Mind-Creeper; a death serpent and nightwing assassin," Uncle Victory Strike explained to the Queens before letting the agreements to roll.
"I mean, since these dragons are part Pyrrhian that don't they have a right to live with their tribe," Queen Glory pointed out.
"But, they are also Grims, so they have a right to live with The Grim," Queen Snowfall said with a hint of disgust in her voice.
"How many of these hybrids are there," Queen Ruby asked.
"Around 12,560 hybrids," Singsong causally responded with no sarcasm in his tone with a serious expression.
"Then, how many pyrrhian dragons live in The Grim," Queen Moorhen asked surprised by the sheer number.
"500,000," Mastermind retorted before grabbing a lamb cutlet from the table.
The queens, Jeboa, Luna, Moonwatcher and Qibli's jaws dropped in shock and surprised while the rest of the dragons before Fluffball just yawned with a boredom or sleepiness.
"We had been getting dragons from Pyrrhia and Pantala for a long time," Secret-Ripper broke the silence while gesturing to Luna, " She is an example of one of the five tribes that live in Pantala."
"Aren't there three," Luna asked surprised by the fact that there are 5 dragon tribes in Pantala,
"The two live either in the ocean or underground, after all, we represent all 35 dragons tribes that make up the Grim," Mind-breaker broke into the conversation.
"How can 8 dragons govern 35 tribes," Queen Ruby retorted with suspicion.
"Simple, if half or more of the total number of a tribe lives in the Grim then, their representatives are in the group that is here with you all. The other tribes have their representatives, who will show up once we finished modelling this cave system, but mainly share ideas amongst one of the eight here," Uncle repeated the rule with prefect clarity to the ears of the six queens, " 35 tribes, which includes the 8 Grim here, 7 Pyrrhian, 5 Pantalan and 15 more, which are the storm-bringers, whispering tunnel carvers, web-spitters, whirpoolers, leviathorgans, glass-makers, exterminators, cavern-crawlers, rip-roarers, polar-impalers, sand-stalkers, vemous-vorpents, bone-finders, quick-tails and metal-seekers. The Polar-Impalers are going to have a representative in the group here soon; her name is Ice Phantom."
"Can you please repeat what you had just said, but slower, please," a very confused rainwing-nigtwing queen asked back.
"Fine," Uncle Victory Strike said before repeating every thing slower.
"So, Jade Academy will have to add 28 more spots per winglet," Tsunami asked, speechless at the situation at hand thanks to her wide-eyed expression.
"Yes," all of the Grim leaders said in unity.
"Great, 196 new students to take care of," Tsunami retorted with sarcasm in her voice after she took some time to clearly calculate the number of new students.
"Don't forget, many more students are trying to join from the Pyrrhian tribes," Singsong pointed out.
"Back to the subject, we clearly need to settle on the distribution of dragons here," the usually quiet and observant; Queen Basalt spoke.
"Basalt is the right, we need to focus on how to take care of the situation at hand. After all, we need to decide on the way to allow dragon to choose either The Grim or their tribes and make sure that they can be properly supported," Uncle Victory Strike changed the subject back to the one at hand.
—— The dragons began to converse on several questions until Fluffball felt the coming of night—
Fluffball nudged her uncle, who then checked the time on his wrist clock with wide eyes.
"Well, it is getting late, so I suggest that we head off," Uncle Victory Strike said before swimming to the edge of the icy pool with a few crocodile-like strokes.
"Well, I think that the time to end this meeting is now," Uncle said before yawning.
"Agree," a drying Mastermind said as he got up and made his way to one of the tiny tunnels on the cave wall.
"I will sent the dragons that want to return to their tribes in a week's time," Uncle said before munching up the last of the fruit tarts, " I will send a letter when we are ready to have another meeting with all 35 representatives."
"Victory Strike," Queen Coral called out, making my uncle turn his head to face her, " Can you bring some more of that cheesecake, next time?"
"Sure," Was all he said before he turned to Moonwatcher, Qibli and Prince Turtle, " I better see you three at the academy or else!"
"Yes, sir," the nervous seawing prince said before going the tunnel. The nightwing and sandwing looked nervously at the triple-slasher before following their friend.
"Come on, Crimson. I got someone for you to see," Queen Ruby said to Crimson as she tried to make a break for the buffet table where I sitting at.
"Fine, mother. Although, can Fluffball come," Crimson asked sweetly with her puppy-eyes expression.
"I don't think-," Crimson's mother started before uncle cut in.
"Sure, Fluffball can go as long as she comes back in two days time," uncle said before glancing at Fluffball's grinning face.
"Hooray," Fluffbal chirped before tackling Crimson. The two rolled around for a bit before they were separated.
Fluffball's uncle dropped her down next to him and whispered in her ear, "How is my ship doing?"
Fluffball felt heat rising from her face as her uncle grinned at her.
"Uncle," Fluffball said embarrassed by the situation at hand.
"What? It is my job to get you ready for the role of queen, after all," uncle said before facing another situation with Crimson and her mother.
"Why do you have so many weapons," Queen Ruby asked, stunned with the pile of death in front of her.
"We train our dragonets in the use of ever weapon we have access to," Secret-Ripper said pridefully.
"Well, I don't want my daughter to carrying all of this around," Queen Ruby retorted.
"Then, can I bring my daggers," Crimson pleaded to her mother while flashing her six excellently crafted slivery blades.
"No," Queen Ruby said with a finality in her voice that reminds Fluffball of her uncle's angry tones.
Crimson snorted and tossed the daggers behind her.
Fluffball and Victory Strike jumped and caught the blades with their tails. They signed in relief before looking down on the form of Crimson,
"Sorry," she squeaked in fear as she met the graze of Fluffball.
"Lets go," Uncle said as he placed the daggers in Sparrow's awaiting talons.
Fluffball rolled her eyes and followed the mother and daughter up the tunnel only sparing a glance at the remaining dragons below.
