Anemone was completely stumped. Tamarin's birthday was tomorrow, and Anemone could not, for the life of her, think of anything she could give to the RainWing.

The princess groaned loudly, covering her face with her talons. She rubbed her eyes and sighed loudly. "I'm a terrible girlfriend," she muttered.

"What's this about being a terrible girlfriend?" Inquired Sepia, who had just entered the cave, drenched in bright pink and purple paint.

Anemone looked up at the MudWing, lashing her tail in annoyance at herself. "I can't think of anything to give Tamarin, and her birthday is tomorrow!" Cried the SeaWing. "What kind of significant other can't get something for their partner?" She questioned.

Sepia hummed thoughtfully as she grabbed a fur towel, scrubbing her scales. "What does she like?"

"Nature, basically. Even if she can't see it, she still finds the beauty that some of us often miss." Anemone said, starting to play with her pearl necklace. "She can identify any flower just by its smell and by touching the petals so gently, it's astounding." She rambled, eyes glazing over slightly as she entered a sort of daze.

Sepia rolled her eyes, her auburn scales now paint-free. "You truly are a love-sick royal, aren't you?" She asked with a small laugh. Anemone glared and grabbed a nearby scroll, throwing it at the MudWing.

She laughed, dodging the scroll. "Anyway, if I were you, I'd go with something nature themed. But I'd also get to work on it, like, now. It's nearly dinner." Sepia stated, and Anemone jumped to her talons.

"Sepia, cover for me, will you?" She asked, and received a nod from the mentioned dragonet. "Thank you!" She called as she dashed out of the cave.

The next day, Anemone spent the whole day with Tamarin. It was a weekend, so they didn't have any classes, which made it so much easier.

Anemone was excited for sundown, the time when she would take Tamarin outside for a moonlit walk, and give her her gift. However, she was extremely tired, having been up with anxiety all night after setting everything up- without her magic.

"So, wait, you have how many brothers again?" Tamarin asked, her scales a pastel pink mixed with splotches of pale red.

"Thirty-two," answered Anemone, running her claw gently over Tamarin's talon. "However I don't actually know most of them, Mother never really let me speak to them."

Tamarin frowned lightly, leaning onto the SeaWing, who instantly draped a wing over Tamarin. "That's sad," she commented. "I don't know if I have any siblings- all RainWings are sort of family."

Anemone nodded, and glanced out a sky hole. "I believe it's time for me to give my gift," Anemone said softly, pecking Tamarin on the forehead. Tamarin flushed a light pink, smiling fondly.

"Come on, we're going for a little trip." Anemone helped Tamarin stand, and together they walked out the academy through a back tunnel that the staff didn't know about (they totally did know, they left it for these reasons specifically).

Walking together, they were silent. Tamarin felt the cool breeze as they entered the evening air, and smiled lightly as the smell of fresh water filled her nostrils. Anemone guided Tamarin down a winding path, lined with lanterns lit by fireflies.

When the path opened, Tamarin sniffed the air lightly, the sound of a small waterfall filling her ears. "Where are we?"

"A garden, I figured you might like it. Of course, any student can use it, but I made it mostly for you." Anemone said, scratching at her wrist nervously.

Tamarin was silent as she wandered around, and a small butterfly landed on her snout. Anemone watched as Tamarin smiled brightly, staring blankly at the butterfly. It fluttered away when Tamarin moved again, walking back to Anemone.

"Did you use your magic?" She asked, her smile fading a bit.

Anemone pulled Tamarin closer, curling her tail around Tamarin's. "Nope," she answered, "I wanted it to be even more special. If I had done it with magic, it wouldn't be as such."

Tamarin smiled again, and nuzzled Anemone lightly. Anemone grinned happily, holding Tamarin tighter and kissing her temple, her cheek, and then her snout. Tamarin was giggling the whole time.

"Happy birthday, Darling." Anemone said softly, and Tamarin's scales turned a flushed pink color.

"Now, let's relax, and maybe you can describe what you hear and smell?" Anemone asked, always loving how Tamarin described things.

The RainWing nodded, kissing Anemone lightly before settling down with her, and listening closely to her surroundings before speaking.

They fell asleep late that night, under the stars and two full moons, curled against one another. Both slept in content, feeling safe in the other's presence.
