Chapter 5
Justice turned around; their eyes locked onto a pair of yellow ones. A pink dragonet stood, tears in her eyes. The scales on the dragonet changed rapidly. "I missed you! I thought you died! Why didn't you come home? Where were you?" The dragonet asked.
Justice paused, not wanting to answer. "Justice was off somewhere being cool! And we came in to help take down some bad guys with Justice!" Polar told the dragonet. "Really!? Thats so cool! I'm Destiny! Who are you?" The dragonet asked. Justice walked over and wrapped their tail around their sister.
"I am Polar, the seawing is the prince, Seaweed. The mudwing is our local bigwing, Chicken-" "Like the bird?" Destiny asked. Polar nodded. "So I was named after a bird!? HA! First clue!" Chicken exclaimed. Polar sighed. "The skywing is Pigeon, and the sandwing is Snake." Polar finished.
Destiny grinned. "Wow! So cool! Imma tell mom and dad that you and Shadowsight are back now, bye!" Destiny dismissed herself, running off.
Justice sighed and followed their sister. Shadowsight followed suit, bringing the others along.
Chicken walked up to Justice and examined them. When she realized that they were fine, she fell back behind, checking on everyone else.
"I'm fine mom!" Seaweed whined. Chicken slowly nodded. "Sure you are. I need to check on your wound!" Chicken exclaimed.
Justice missed the feeling of having a mother. They hadn't seen their mother in a while, so it was certainly going to be a surprise.
When they got there, Justice was immediately greeted with a hug by their overexcited mother. "You're home! And you're safe! We were worried sick, come in, come in!" Acorn exclaimed, dragging them inside.
Polar walked in last, very tentative about it. Snake ended up dragging him in though.
Justice was greeted with food, specifically watermelon. This would be the second time they ate after they fled.
Justice hungrily wolfed down the watermelon, only giving some to Admiral. "You really care about that sloth." Snake observed. "Yes, I do." Justice hissed. Snake shrugged. "Anyways, I gotta go back to Thorn's Palace. I'm probably expected there." Snake said, as he got up and left.
Acorn ran in. "Alright, bye! Safe travels!" She dismissed the young dragonet. Snake nodded and left. Chicken seemed mildly upset that she couldn't say goodbye.
Pigeon looked at Acorn. "Thank you for letting us stay." She and Polar said at the same time.
Justice looked at the icewing. They could tell it was too humid for him. They felt bad. Justice reminded themselves that Polar was one of the enemies.
"I think we should leave in the morning. Sorry mom, dad." Justice responded.
Shadowsight and Polar looked at Justice with shock and confusion. "Oh, it's fine dear!" Acorn responded. Justice nodded.
Justice nodded, and walked off to their room, laying down in their hammock.
"Why? Why, why? Why why why why why why why WHY!? He's the enemy! I-I can't care about his pathetic feelings when he doesn't care about mine!" Justice thought. "I shouldn't care about them! Pigeon and Polar are the enemies!"
Justice shook off the thought. "You care, Justice. Face it. You see them as your friends, despite so much their tribes have done to you." Shadowsight stated. Justice glared at their brother, who rolled his eyes. "Sorry." He squeaked. "You're fine. You're right. I-I just..." Justice trailed off, Shadowsight walked over and pat Admiral's head. "Any ideas on where to stay?" Shadowsight asked. "I- how about the other continent if it exists?" Justice suggested.
"We can go there and see how we like it. Or we can find a less humid part of the rainforest." Shadowsight suggested. Justice rolled their eyes. "It's a rainforest, it's gonna be humid. How about we visit it first?" "Sure. Good night, Justice. I'm glad you're back." Shadowsight told them. Justice nodded. "'Night."
And with that, sleep consumed them. Surprisingly, no nightmares haunted them, only peace.
