Chapter 1

(Note: This takes place about 15 or so years after events of Fallen Kingdom, Rising Power, etc. All the previous dragonets are grown up)

Jupiter raised his head as he heard his mother bumping around in the kitchen.

What's happening? Is someone attacking her? Do I need to get up? Do I need to protect her-

His mother's face peered into the doorway of his room. "Oh, hey sweetie! I'm glad your up! Do you want breakfast?".

Jupiter blinked, relieved nothing was wrong. "Uh, sure. Well, depends on what it is, because if it's that banana thing again, I would risk choking and if I dropped the peel on the floor-".

Starchaser shook her head and rubbed her eyes. "No, it's not that banana bread. Also, your Uncle Promisebreaker and Aunt Maroon are here. Come out when your ready, they want to see you".

Jupiter nodded. "I'll be right out". His mother smiled faintly at him and whisked out of the doorway.

Jupiter tilted his head and took a careful step off of his ledge. He could hear his aunt's voice coming from the kitchen.

Maroon was a RainWing, and his mother's brother, his uncle, Promisebreaker, was a NightWing. It was still weird to see different tribe couples, but it was getting more and more common.

Starchaser peeked down the hallway again. "Also, Truthspeaker was at the door, I let her in".

Truthspeaker, Starflight and Fatespeaker's daughter, was one of Jupiter's only friends. Though she was quite a bit older then him, it worked out just fine.

Jupiter turned into the kitchen to be instantly bundled by light ruby scales. "Jupiter!" Maroon half-screamed, half-singed.

He smiled nervously back up at her. "Uh, hi Maroon!".

Promisebreaker came up from behind and nudged her off. "Sorry, Jupiter. She's going through a faze where she needs to tackle every dragonet she sees-".

Maroon thumped him on the head with her tail. "I do not tackle them...I prefer the term 'violent hug'".

Promisebreaker rolled his eyes and turned back to Jupiter. "So, how have you been?".

He shifted his weight from foot to foot. "Pretty good".

"Have you been playing with the other dragonets?".

Truthspeaker walked in with Starchaser just in time to save him from his uncle's questions. "Hey Jupiter! Oh, and Maroon and Promisebreaker! Good morning!".

Maroon smiled. "Hi Truthespeaker! Nice to see you again. What brings you here?".

Truthspeaker shrugged. "Dad wanted me to help me in the library, but I didn't really want to, that's what Mom does. So, I just thought I'd come and hang out here for a bit".

Maroon looked down. "By any chance did you bring Destiny?".

Promisebreaker rolled his head back. "Three moons! What is it with you and dragonets?".

Truthspeaker shook her head "No, Mom wants her to finish her flying lessons before coming this far. And, I wouldn't want to keep a eye on her all day".

Jupiter had only met Destiny, Truthspeaker's little sister, once. She was cute, but Jupiter would still it prefer not to be stuck with her all day too.

Starchaser cleared her throat. "Why don't you and Truthspeaker go outside? You can visit with Maroon and Promisebreaker in a bit".

Jupiter frowned. "Are you sure? We could-".

Truthspeaker was already halfway to the door. "Come on! It'll be fun!" Her smile disappeared. "I wanted to check on Firefly".

Jupiter nodded and followed her out the door with a last glance at his mother. He didn't blame her for worrying about her friend.

Ever since Blacksand and Koi had been found dead, the princess had a hard time. But, she still had Arena.

As they reached the clearing her hut was in, they slowed down. Truthspeaker stopped. "I see her, she's outside".

Jupiter followed her as she sped into the clearing. Firefly was hunched by the door of the hut with Arena sitting next to her, one wing draped over her. Arena kept on casting her nervous glances every few seconds.

It took him a second to realize there was a small dragonet curled up under Firefly's front talons. Where did she come from?

"Firefly! Arena!" Truthspeaker shouted.

Arena shot up, growling. She blinked and sat back down once she saw it was Truthspeaker.

Firefly looked up warily, but her face brightened when she saw Truthspeaker, Jupiter thought. "Hi! W-what are you doing here?".

Truthspeaker rested her tail on Firefly's shoulder. "I just wanted to check on you. How is everything? And, who's dragonet is that?".

Arena grinned. "This is Memory, she's our dragonet".

Truthspeaker widened her eyes. "When did this happen?".

The pink-purple dragonet raised her head and looked at Truthspeaker and Jupiter with a timid expression.

Firefly sat up. "We found her in the jungle...She has a giant tear in her wings so we think she fell down quite a ways".

She held up one of Memory's small wings. In better light, Jupiter could notice a jagged scar on one of her wings.

Arena noticed Jupiter for the first time and flared her wings. "Who's this?".

Jupiter bowed his head. "Uh, I'm Jupiter...Starchaser's son".

Truthspeaker nodded. "Starchaser is Promisebreaker's younger sister, remember?".

Firefly smiled faintly at him. "Yep, I remember. It's nice to meet you. I'm Firefly, and this is my girlfriend, Arena!".

Jupiter just nodded, just enough to keep his head bowed, and looked back down again.

Arena snorted. "Stop acting like a submissive scavenger and look up!".

Firefly hit Arena with her elbow. "Arena! That's not nice! Sorry, Jupiter".

Arena didn't even look offended. "I'm practicing for when Memory's older. I can be all 'ROAR! I'm a strict parent!'".

Firefly has to hide her snout with her front talons to cover her laugh. "Okay, okay! You win!".

Truthspeaker rolled her eyes. "So, everything's been good?".

Firefly sighed. "Yeah, it's been okay....My mom and dad stopped by a couple times to check on me and Arena, and to meet Memory".

Arena nodded. "Glory was excited to meet her granddaughter and so she was Deathbringer....Hummingbird is still getting used to the fact she's not the center of attention anymore".

Truthspeaker smile. "Glad you've been seeing family and all....".

Firefly looked down and Arena wrapped her wing around her. "It's really hard...They should be here. We lost Hourglass, that was hard to get through...but now both of them....It makes me feel like I don't even deserve to be here..".

Arena grabbed her front talons. "Hey, listen to me. Never say that! You will never have less rights to be here, you deserve to be. I love you, okay? That's enough to keep me here".

Firefly made it possible to look happy, sad and full of love at the same time. "Thanks, you desert-muncher".

Firefly turned and looked slightly embarrassed as she remembered Jupiter and Truthspeaker were there. "And, um, I saw Lavender once...She's okay, I guess. And I invited Sahara and Kalahari over here to stay for awhile. They need to get back on their feet, their both so young...One of them can't possibly be queen".

Truthspeaker looked down. "Yeah, I'm really sorry about all this...Any news on Amara and Finn?".

Arena shook her head. "No bodies have been found but they are presumably dead. And that little dragonet...".

Firefly shifted her weight. "Um, do you want to go on a walk or something?".

The tiny dragonet had woken up and staring up at Firefly goggly. Arena leaned over and smiled down at her. "Come on, Memory". She gently untangled her from Firefly's talons.

The dragonet looked up at her willingly. "Mama?".

Arena smiled a smile as big as one of the moons. "Hey, wake up sleepy-head! We're going on a walk!".

Firefly nudged her onto Arena's shoulders. "Hold on, okay?".

Jupiter stood up and looked at Truthspeaker. "Maybe I should head back so you can visit with them".

Truthspeaker frowned. "No, no, stay! You can get to know them a bit! And maybe we can even that them to see Maroon, shell get her dragonet fix".

Arena came up beside them. "Yeah, you should come with us. Oo, why don't we go to that waterfall you were talking about earlier, Firefly".

Firefly shot up. "Yeah, yeah! Let's go!". She shot up into the air and dashed for the trees. Arena scrambled after her, Memory clinging to her neck.

Truthspeaker smiled. "Glad to see their having fun, now come on". She jumped into the air.

Jupiter shot one more wary look over his shoulder at the way they came. It's only for a little bit. What's the worse that could happen?

Yay, I finally finished the chapter...

Idk, I'm bad at writing...
