Lemur leaped through the trees. She would beat her opponent! She slid through a gap between the branches in a tree, and saw him just ahead of her.
Never! She said in her mind, and flapped her wings to catches up. She timed it to late, and one of her wings hit a nearby tree. She fell onto a thick branch below, and watched as toucan flew passed the place they had marked as the finish line.
"That wasn't fair!" Lemur whined, getting up and winding through the trees to reach toucan. "I fell!"
" but that was your fault. When your tree gliding, you need to know when to open your wings one when not to! " he pointed on. Why did he have to be so smart? He always seemed to have a good way to respond to her.
"Well I want a re-do." Said lemur.
And this time I'll WIN!
Toucan splashed into the river in front of them, shaking his head to say no. Lemur's face fell in disappointment. Whenever she wanted something, she didn't get it. She flew up into a banana tree above them, picking a bunch of bananas. She ate one right there, before flying down to join toucan.
"Want one?" She held a banana out at him, and he took it.
" Dish ish good! " he exclaimed. He stuffed the rest into his face. "I want the power to summon a banana whenever I want!"
Lemur laughed, saying "we live in a place where we practically drown in bananas! And you want more?"
Toucan laughed as well, before leaping into the sky. The sun was high, which isn't it was sun time. That was the time rainwings spent lying in the sun, to stay happy, and so that their scales would keep changing color. Lemur did so sun time sometimes, but she preferred to skip it. She needed to get away for a bit.
Her family had lied to her about her mom. They had said she was out there somewhere adventuring. But only last month had lemur convinced a small nightwing to tell her exactly what had happened. Her mother was dead, killed by a call from a tree. It was horrible. They had lied that the world was perfect, just as all rainwings believed, but lemur knew I wasn't.
"I'll catch up, k?" She said to toucan .
"Your not going on another one of your 'adventures ' are you?" He asked skeptically .
"Uh, no?" Lemur answered. Toucan have her a suspicious glance , but he flew off in the direction of the rainwing village.
She took off in the opposite direction, towards the ocean. It seemed like the only place the world seemed to have sense. Flying with toucan was fun. Toucan himself was fun. But to... Happy? No. Lemur was pretty happy herself, most of the time. More like... Optimistic. Her family were too all way to optimistic.
The world isn't perfect no matter how much you say it is. Sunrise is DEAD because of you, and you pretend her death doesn't exist at all?
Lemur flew over the trees, taking frequent breaks. The sea wasn't that far from the village, now that it has been expanded. She had long enough to make her usual quick trip her one peaceful spot. The only place in Pyrrhia where she really felt at home.
When she finally got to the ocean, lemur sat on the beach made of pebbles to think. It wasn't really that bad. No one could be to happy. It just got a little tiring to live with dragons who thought every thing in life was amazing! Every single rainwing seemed to think that! The only dragons who had sense were the nightwings.
At first, she had thought that she got her personality from the nightwings. Maybe she was the familiar hybrid? But she had quickly ruled that out. She was more peaceful than the nightwings, or so toucan said. But lemur wasn't a rainwing, in sense to attitude either. It didn't mean much to her normally, but here, at the beach, she had time to ponder over these complicated things.
"Are you even alive? Or you going to keep staring at the water all day?"

Lemur and toucan are not siblings, just the clear that up. Also... How I love cliffhangers! Also the complicated feelings were a bit... Complicated. Ok now I'm almost done introducing the main characters. Hope your liking it so far!
