Chapter 8

Moonsky weaved between the crowd to the isolated circle in the center. "What the moons are you doing here?" he asked in a low voice. The gathered Cloudlings continued to scream things like "get off our island!" and "what are you doing in Skykeria!?"

"We still need your help," Qibli whispered to him. "Also, after the big battle you had, the MudWings kind of went mental, so we need someone from here to tell them they're fine."

Moonsky sighed. Okay, he thought, I can go for a few more days outside of a normal life. "Fine, follow me."

He led them away from the crowd and through the city, avoiding the sight of fellow Cloudlings. Alleys and halls and shafts leading to empty rooms made by the more incompetent  construction companies were the only true constant in a city like Vannahime. Dragonets, like him and his friends, had populated these empty spaces, forming hideouts and sometimes homes.

That, as much as his friends would dislike it, is where Moonsky was taking Moon and Qibli.

"We should go now," he heard Serpentine say behind the door. "I've been building an airship for the last year and a half so we can leave if we need to, and you and Moonsky can bring your parents. Those Terrans are probably here to declare war; I'm ready to move and charted a course to Morsinder."

"Serpentine, no." That was Catfish." If the Terrans wanted to declare war on us, they wouldn't send two dragnets. Also, Morsinder is the place Moonsky's father died. Neither he nor his mother would be okay if we went there."

Moonsky walked in right into the middle of that argument. "Yes, sure, but even he'll agree that going to the home city of the Unchallenged to survive is more important. And plus, I've heard that there's a lot of open jobs and homes there, so I can finally get an actual house to live in."

Moonsky winced and glanced at the rudimentary bedding that the orphaned dragon had been using since he and Moonsky had met. He had to live here for over two years. Before that, he'd been on the streets or in an orphanage. His sandy yellow scales had scars and marks that dragons would often mistake for pattern, like the black stripe down his spine.

"You're okay with that, right, Moonsky?" Serpentine asked him. "Going to Morsinder? I mean, you've fallen off the island already. And you've exposed the Lightning Order to everyone."

"Serpentine, stop," Catfish interjected,  probably seeing Moonsky's face go pale. "You know he would hate it. And, it's been victim to three suicide bombing fleets. Do you really think that's safer than being here in the middle of a war with Terrans of all dragons?" she turned to Moonsky. "He's been paranoid about the Terrans since they were spotted. Thinking they're here to declare war."

"They are!" Serpentine said again. "I'm telling you, why else would they be up here? We can't let them in here."

"Yeah, about that..." Catfish and Serpentine turned to Moonsky. He opened the door, revealing Moon and Qibli standing patiently in the hallway.

And so, part 1 is complete. Yes, I fleshed out a few things, yes, I was too lazy to describe the room(next chapter), but not only is Skykeria more diverse and the Cultists more dangerous, but most importantly, the Unchallenged has been revealed... Oh, it's going to be fun to play around with it's sheer POWER!

Also, yes, I have been behind on releasing the ACtS steam workshop replicas, but I'll make sure to do that before I release Chapter 9
