Chapter 7

The island split in half(haha you fool! you thought there were more Cultists? No! I can't do battles!). A small fortress on it tore itself apart, leaving the Cloudlings - Cultists, slaves, and guards alike - to drown in the brown, sticky mud on the surface, if the long fall didn't kill them immediately. Bars of metal flew everywhere, sparking on the metal hulls of most ships, piercing the armor of the few wooden ones.

"Send lines over!" The admiral said. "Bridge the gap between the halves of the island! We just lost who knows how many lives taking this thing, we're not losing half of it now!"

Moonsky recovered from the small panic attack he'd had and dove behind the ship's wall. He was lucky enough to just dodge a cannon round from a new Cultist fleet(haha fooled again!) as deafening cannonfire erupted across the battlefield.

"Hold on," one of the soldiers catches him. "Let's get you back home. Hold on to me."

Moonsky held on as the soldier swung him towards the Titan. He sprinted through the cargo doors into his mother's arms again, wanting to stay there forever but knowing he couldn't.

"Stay on this ship," Steelheart told him. "Stay with me. From now on."

"Okay," Moonsky answered. "I'll stay with you. Forever."

Home. Finally, he was home. On Vannahime, where he belonged, not on the Titan or a Borilliom or on the surface, but on a floating island above a towering mountain. Maybe Dock had softened up, and had stopped his old habits; or maybe he'd been arrested, who knows?

As the Titan docked to it's home city and Moonsky stepped out into Vannahime's capital building, A dragonet his age greeted him. "Moonsky, right?" she asked. "Look, I just wanted to apologize for what my sister did to you. I feel really bad, that's never happened to anyone, and I know she's really mean, and I let her be, and-"

"Hey, hey," Moonsky interrupted her. "You didn't have anything to do with it. And I don't even know your name."

"Oh, it's Seaweed."

"Seaweed. I like that name."

Seaweed beamed. "Thanks."

                                                    -----<-->-----

The day was fairly normal(well, except for Moonsky being approached by every single news reporter on the planet), like how life as a hybrid normally was in Skykeria. News had spread quickly about the Cultists being out of coal - Moonsky had seen three fleets of airships loaded with weaponry leaving to hunt down the last remaining Cultist ships.

Even the Titan had joined in on the action - it was reloaded within hours of docking and left with a fleet of larger civilian ships, most notably a repainted Lightning Order Superdreadnought.

Everything was different. A new force had filled the "gap" left by the Order, the Skykerian Alliance. A fourth capitalship was being built, with new suspendium-based weapons and armor. Even pirates, after hearing of the might of the air navy, were surrendering to the authorities.

Finally, after nearly two decades of fighting, peace was on the horizon.

"How was your day?" Steelheart asked Moonsky when he came through the door.

"Fine," he answered. In reality, he had a lot on his mind, like what was going to happen to Moon and Qibli and everyone else. Or what would happen to everyone the Cultists enslaved to run the artificial island somewhere in the ocean - without coal for fuel, isn't it just a matter of time until it falls and crashes into the ocean?

"Well," Steelheart said, "I wanted to talk to the governor about linking Skykeria with Pyrrhia. Do you wanna come?"

Moonsky shook the thoughts out of his head. "Sure." He looked out the window to the beach. People were- wait, was that who he thought it was?

What was Moon and Qibli doing here?
