Chapter 11

"Really?" Serpentine complained. "This is where the Cultist's mysterious and great city has been hiding for the last eleven years? Just a few kilometers off the southern coast? Where any stray ship could see if they just looked?"

It was true. The oh-so-fabled sky city was floating far enough in the air that it could be seen for kilometers as well, yet it still hadn't ever been spotted or engaged or anything like that despite also being surrounded by a fleet of Cultist ships, apparently.

"So... what do we do now?" Qibli was the fist to ask. "I mean, we know where this 'Cultist city' is now, but what do we do with that knowledge? Do we tell a leader? do we go after these Cultists? do we just burn the map?"

"No!" the rest of the room shouted at once. "Think of how many lives we could save by giving this to the government!" Catfish told him.

"Or how much money!" Serpentine said, earning glares from Moon, Moonsky, and Catfish.

The crew had decided that they wanted to stay behind and see if they can resurrect the corvette as a landship, leaving the five dragonets to try and return to land on they're own. It would be quite the milestone - the first landship since Skykeria's founding roughly two thousand years ago. And now that the Darkstalker was truly gone, it was safe to return to the ground. The Black Star had returned to the sky, floating on to no place in particular. For right now, that was just away from any pirates.

"I think we should get this to the First Responders, and they'll get it to the rest of Skykeria," Moonsky offered. "Then they can gather a fleet and attack."

Serpentine shook his head. "I vote we sell it to someone who can give it to the Government. We might not get the credit, but we'll get enough money to buy a fleet."

"Maybe we should go back to Vannahine," Moon offered. "Restock, process what we have, and then take action? Plus, it's the home of the Titan, so we could get it's help."

"I agree with that," Moonsky agreed.

Catfish seemed to have an idea."Maybe if we-"

"No," Moon interrupted, "giving it to the dragons at the harvesting post wouldn't work; they're in too much isolation. By the time they managed to convinced someone they were telling the truth, the war would already be over." A moment of silence followed as everyone was thinking about other things they could do. "First Responders it is. I'll man the sails(please tell me weather the word would be "manned" or not)."

"No, I'll get the sails, you control our lift," Serpentine overruled. "Qibli can help you with that, Catfish can help me with the sails, and Moonsky can, well... be Moonsky."

"Can't you give me something to do?" Moonsky asked as everyone sprinted off to their jobs.

"Moonsky," Serpentine turned to him, "you're the youngest of us. That means you can do the least. So, because of that, I can't let you do anything important. Okay?"

Moonsky sighed; this was typical for Serpentine. He was a little older than nine, but he thought of dragons like Moonsky, who was almost seven, like one-year-old's.

Catfish was actually younger than Moonsky, on top of that.

The airship continued on, passing islands and other airships on it's way to Thrail, the home of the First Responders. They even passed by the Unchallenged at some point.

Now, they were stopped, back at the harvesting post. Spiral was still crashing around the room he was put in, although he seemed to have calmed down after a few days.

Moonsky looked up at the ceiling of the Black Star, everyone else snoozing away around him. The sound of rain on the wooden walls. Thunder and lightning could be heard in the distance, striking the sky like a dagger of light and fire.

It was peaceful.

Quiet.

A few minutes passed until Moonsky realized he could faintly hear cheering. When he listened closely, he realized they were Cultist cheers. Scrambling on top of the ship and waking everyone in the process, he saw h huge fleet, massively over sized for something like this, with multiple cruisers, a prisoner transport, a number of corvettes, even a whole citadel for moons sake.

"Well, look what we have here," A priest said from the roof of the Black Star as everyone else came out. "A ship in perfect condition and a harvesting post with dragons fresh and ready to serve. Plunder the harvester and take the airship! Guards, take everyone here and load them into the tran-"

A flash of lightning interrupted the priest. It revealed a fleet- a big one- with a colossal ship at the front. Three imperial cannons gleamed in the light, and a biplane hook gave off a unique shadow. It was so big that it went over the Skykerian ship budget, and to make up for that, a ship construction had to be cancelled altogether.

It was the Unchallenged.

The Cultists instantly started retreating, and the boom of the heavy or imperial cannons rang like bells across the sky, blurring the line between thunder and battle.  An ace pilot, as skilled as the one on the Titan, pelted the attackers with small bullets, making the corvettes struggle to stay intact. Suspendium chambers exploded, creating spectacular bursts of fire. Moon and Qibli had their jaws dropped, standing on top of the harvesting post. Of course, this was their first true Skykerian battle.

"Moonsky!" Qibli yelled over the storm and the battle. "What do we do!?"

"Just stay in the sidelines," Moonsky answered, "Getting caught in the crossfire will kill you." As if agreeing, the Black Star suddenly burst into flames. Serpentine keeled in front of the wreckage, screaming into the sky curses and swears of death. The prisoner transport fled, leaving the rest of the Cultist fleet to it's doom. The citadel had fallen, and the rest of the fleet was either surrendering or fighting to the death, it's crew grimly watching the final remnants battle.

That's when Moonsky realized it. "Serpentine," he yelled to the SandWing, "Where's Catfish!?"

-----<-->-----

Okay! The suspense is real!

So, a few thing to clear up: The ships here are much more powerful in the book than in-game. The reason is, in the game, there's hitting everywhere in the ship, there's only shooting ships from one side, and there's no skill or xp system. Here, there's broadside, perspective, disorganized Cultists VS. organized and overplanning Government, ace fighters, training, elite soldiers, ect.

So, a few questions before I go to the next part: 1. do you actually look at the replicas? and 2. Have you created any (relation)ships(I am purely curious)?
