Chapter 11

"We're really gonna do this?" Python's nervously spoke up as they stood at the edge of the shoreline, looking out into he horizon of endless sea. Just ocean for as far as the eye could see.

The group of dragonets had stayed along the beach for most of the day, waiting for night fall so they could find the brightest star, and there it was. Shinning brightly in he sky ahead of them, almost calling to them to come follow it onto the unknown.

"Yes, we're doing this." Robin felt confident, her tail twitching in excitement as she looked out to the ocean ahead of her, feeling the soft waves touch the tips of her talons from where she stood, almost beckoning her towards it.

"Python," Cacti spoke up, drawing the groups attention. "If you're scared about going, you don't need to come with us."

"What? No! I wanna go! I can't let you guys go alone! What if something happens and I never know?!" The SandWing dragonet exclaimed.

"Nothings going to happen to us." Robin rolled her eyes with a huff.

"You don't know that." Python narrowed his eyes at her in a worrying and caring glare.

"Maybe I do."

"Maybe you don't."

"Anyways!" Cacti pushed his way between the two, cutting them both off. "Python, if you really don't want to come, you don't need to."

"The only reason I'm going is to make sure theses idiots don't get hurt, so it's not like we're going to force you to come." Trotzen shrugged.

"I mean we technically could." Robin shrugged.

"Robin!" Snowflake's wings fluttered as the hybrid gave a soft glare towards her.

"What?! Technically we could, I didn't say we would."

"You would."

"Would not!" Robin fluttered her wings with a huff. "I would never do that!"

The others each gave Robin a look, to which Robin faltered.

"Okay maybe I would."

"You would." Trotzen pressed further.

"I already said a I would! Now," the hybrid dragonet turned her attention back towards her adopted cousin, the SandWing just watching silently from where he stood by Cacti. "Do you want to still come?"

There was a moment of silence that lingered between the group as Python seemed to think. The only sound that filled the air was the soft rolling of the oceans waves as they crept up the beach, just barely touching the dragonets talons before it retreated back to gather itself, then it would reach out again and repeat.

Python broke the silence with a sigh before he spoke. "I'll come. I've come this far, why should I stop now and leave you guys to get all the adventure?"

"That's the spirit!" Robin smiled as she jumped up onto her talons from where she was sitting. She turned to look back out towards the star that shone brightly within the sky, almost as bright as the moons themselves. It shone brightly within the darkening purple sky as the sun continued to set towards the sea kingdom.

"Everyone ready?" She looked back towards the rest of them.

They each gave their own agreements before Robin looked forwards once more, a feeling of determination flooding over the SkyWing-NightWing dragonet as she looked out to the horizon, as though trying to see what laid out beyond the horizon.

Beyond the Sea, she thought as her wings shot open at her sides. She crouched down before her legs shot her off into the air, her wings pushing down to help lift her into the air.

She could hear Snowflake, Trotzen, Cacti and Python all fly up with her, the group of dragonets flying off into the horizon, following the bright star into the unknown.

"I wonder how far we'll have to fly?" Robin wondered out loud as they flew through the fluffy clouds that seemed to swirl around them as they floated high up in the sky.

They'd only been traveling for a day, and Tobin felt that with each wing beat, they were getting closer and closer to this mysterious and lost continent, forgotten within the history scrolls.

"Hopefully not much longer." She added with a happy twirl as she flew.

"We just left Pyrrhia yesterday! We probably have a long ways to go!" Snowflake flew after Robin, fixing her glasses with her serrated talons as her spiked tail twitched.

"So don't get your hopes up about every new island you see!" Cacti shouted from the back of the group where he flew along side Python and Trotzen.

"Oh shush! That was one time!"

"Three actually." Snowflake added with a smile.

"Not helping with my case here Snowflake."

"I wasn't trying to!"

The two hybrid dragonets laughed as they flew, Cacti, Trotzen and Python hot on their tails as they soared through the golden coloured clouds that seemed to blend in with the sky as the sun rose up from its slumber beyond the sea within the horizon.

This mysterious continent can't be much farther away! I can feel it! She thought with a smirk as she pushed her wings to make her go faster before she tucked them in and let herself dive down, the wind rushing past her face, making her narrow her eyes in order to see.

As soon as she cleared the clouds, she could see he open ocean below her, but that didn't stop her from continuing her dive, her smile still present on her face as she tucked in her wings tighter, helping her gain speed.

At the last second before she crashed into the softly rolling waves of the ocean, her wings shot out and the wind lifted her upwards with great speed.

"WOOOOOOOOH!" She roared with a laugh as she felt the use of excitement rush throughout her body as she shot up high into the air, spotting her friends flying after her.

"WOAH!" Cacti's emerald green eyes were wide in awe. "How'd you do that?!"

"Pop-Pop taught me!" She told him with a smile as she tucked in her wings once more with a twirl before they shot open again to catch her as she flew above the SandWing prince.

"Could you teach me?"

"He says SkyWing's can really only do it," she saw the saddened yet determined look form onto Cacti's face as she continued. "But I could still teach you if you wanna try!"

The days seemed to pass by in a blur as the dragonet flew across the endless sea. They'd stop to take breaks on any islands they could find as they flew straight.

At first, spirits were high, but after the sixth day, hopes were starting to wilt just like a plant being cut off from sunlight.

The group of dragonets were currently on a small island, the stars shinning brightly above them.

Robin was sitting alone along the shore while the others slept under a palm tree. The hybrid dragonet felt a tugging at her heart, almost a feeling of guilt. Her ears drooped down the sides of her head as she looked down at her singular leather glove, slightly tattered and torn.

Why do I feel so guilty? She thought as she looked back up at the stars twinkling above her. Why does it feel like I've done something wrong? At first, when they left Pyrrhia, she felt excited and determined. But now....she felt lost.

All of the dragonets were starting to get a little skinny. It was getting harder and harder to fish for any food in this weather, and any other animals were smart enough to stay hidden and out of sight. They were also having trouble finding water that wasn't salty and didn't dry out their mouths and make them even more thirstier than before.

She bought back to yesterday, how awful that day was.

"We're lost! Just accept it!" Trotzen roared with an agreed flare of her wings as her barbed tail lashed behind her like a mad cats.

"No! We're not lost! We're still going in the right direction! The stars right there!" Robin growled with a flick of her tail.

"Really? It doesn't seem like we're going the right way! We're lost! We have no idea where we're going! And we don't know how to get back home!"

"We'll just go away from the star if we want to go home! Simple as that!" She defended herself.

"Not everything is that simple!" Princess Trotzen shouted. "Robin, we've been to this exact island several times! We're! Lost!"

"No! We haven't! It's just similar to the others."

"Then how come we've counted to exact amount of trees and there's scratches in them from when Snowflake grew bored? Defend that!"

Robin couldn't, she couldn't form any words as her snout just gapped open and closed much like that of a fish. She didn't know what to say. They were right. They were lost.

Robin shook the memory from her head with a saddened frown. Were they really lost? Are we lost? Is it all my fault? She could feel her wings drop down her sides limply in guilt as it washed over her like a crashing wave.

The wind blew harshly against her scales, as though trying to scold her for her actions.

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, she thought with a sad twitch of her tail, the wind roaring in her ears like a dragon roaring at her. And I dragged them all with me, she looked back towards her friends who were all curled up tightly together as though trying to shield themselves from the wind that only seemed to grow stronger by every passing minute.

Robin sat there, her mind wandering as the wind continued to pick up. It seemed that the longer they flew, the worse the weather got, as though the world was trying to stop them from reaching their destination.

Was it even all real? Is there even a lost continent to begin with? She couldn't help but think with a shudder as the cold winds seemed to pierce through her scales.

"Robin?" A voice called out among the raging winds, a familiar voice that made the small hybrid dragonet lift up her head, her ears perked up.

Were her ears playing ticks on her? Or was that really...?

"Robin!?" Called the voice again.

It sounds just like mom, Robin thought as she stood up onto her talons, her golden yellow eyes widening as she tried to look around to spot her mothers warm orange scales that brought her so much comfort.

"Mommy!" She roared at the top of her lungs. "Mom! I'm over here! Mom!"

"Robin? Why are you shouting?" Spoke up a tired voice, the voice belonged to Snowflake.

Robin didn't look back at her friend as she continued to look out at the horizon that was dark, grey and full of angry clouds that wouldn't let her see through them no matter how hard she tried.

"My mom! She's out there! I can hear her!" Robin told the other hybrid dragonet as she went back to shouting for her mother, wanting the tall SkyWing to find her, wrap her wings around her and tell her everything was going to be okay, that everything would be fine and they'd be able to go home.

"Robin! No ones out there! What are you talking about?!" She now heard Python talking to her, but she didn't look back at her friends as she strained her ears to try and listen for her mothers voice above the roaring winds.

"Robin!?" She heard Funnel's voice cry, her mother sounding just like she had when she couldn't find her in a game of hide in seek. "Where are you my little bird?"

"I'm right here mom! I'm right here!" Robin cried as her wings shot open on their own accord. She could feel herself shoot up into the air, the winds trying to pull her in all sorts of directions. She could barely hear her friends over the angry roaring of the stormy winds.

The harsh winds immediately snapped Robin out of her daze, her heart starting to pound in a panic as the winds pulled at her in ever direction.

"Help!" She cried as she tried to turn and see her friends on the small island they chose to take residence for the night. But she couldn't see them. All she could see was the dark swirling clouds around her, like a predator that had just caught its prey and was going to toy and play with it before finishing it off. Before Robin even knew it, it had started to rain, and hard.

The rain seemingly chose to crash down atop of her, getting into her eyes and making it even harder to see in the poor weather.

"Robin!" She could hear Snowflake cry, the sound broke Robin's heart as she tried to fly after her friends voice. Even with the wings of a SkyWing, dragons who could fly through almost anything, she couldn't fly through the storm to get back to the safety of the island.

"Guys! Help me!" She roared before she felt the winds harshly pull her down, she could feel herself scream out for them, for anyone, but she couldn't hear it.

It didn't take long for Robin to feel the shock of the cold ocean smash against her back as she crashed down into its waters, the large waves rushing to crash over her and seal her away.

Robin tried to swim up, but she couldn't, her large wings only seemed to drag her down as she desperately clawed at her water that tried to force its way into her snout and down her throat.

The coldness seemed to seep through her scales, making her movements even more sluggish. Her eyes started to droop as she started to grow tired, grow weak.

The last thing she could see before she closed her eyes was the clash of lightning, lighting up the water in a flash. She could see bubbles floating away from her as she water stole her final breath as it pulled her down into its depths, away from the sky, away from her friends, away from everyone and everything.

————————————————————
Everyone likes swimming right? I know I don't.

Fun fact, when I was younger, I nearly drowned on a beach. I didn't need CPR or anything, though I did inhale a lot of water and did get sick because of it. But I was fine, I'm still here so I think that goes to show I'm not dead.

The waves were huge and the only ones there were me, my younger brother and my cousins as well as some family friends.

My nan and our friends nan were watching us on she shore when suddenly this large wave crashed down atop of me and I couldn't see anything as it felt as though the air had been ripped from my lungs. Plus, I smashed my head against something to make matters worse.

I managed to get out of the water and in the process I lost my goggles, which, were the only pair that have ever fit me without feeling to tight or to lose.

So yeah, ever since then I've slowly dislikes swimming unless it's in a pool where there's a lower chance of my dumbass drowning.

Every time I see dark clouds in the distance of a beach, I mentally panic and want to go home right that instant, even though it might possibly not even get to the beach I was on.

Anyways! I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter!
