Chapter 3
Storms as dark the night itself rolled across jade mountain, choking the sky with darkness. Fierce wind drove torrents of rain and thunder across the peaks. Lightning illuminated the clouds momentarily, before disappearing again in a flash. In a clearing in the middle of the forest below jade mountain a tent made of animal skins flapped wildly int he wind. Inside where 12 very different dragons.
Parasite was among those dragons, he was busily playing with some dragon figurines he had brought before the storm took hold, while the rest of the dragons where gazing at the walls of the tent and listening tot he rain and thunder. A snout nudged his tail, "Come on!" It was Snowbank, Snowbank in all her dazzling glory.
He set his dragons down and sat up to gaze at the tent walls as well. A cold blistery wind brushed in through the openings the animal skins made when it was flapped open. A deep blue seawing was tying the edges down and securing the ropes so no more cold air made it's way in.
"Hey Tsunami,"Parasite asked turning his head towards the seawing.
"What?" She looked up from her work.
"Where's Sunny?" He asked, pulling his wings closer. "And why is he here?" Ravine joined in, pointing a dark red talon to a light green seawing who was peeking under the flaps of the tent and was definitely not from their Winglet. Their seawing, Sundrift, the light blue and gold dragon who seemed to enjoy being under the sun, was poking through her satchel on the opposite side of the tent.
"Sunny's not coming because reasons exist and Seaweed missed his winglet's trip last week so he's coming with us." Tsunami explained then proceeded to finish her work. Once the seawing founder of jade mountain academy was done she did the same exact weird thing Sunny had been doing yesterday. Staring oddly at Snowbank, but her expression wasn't the I-know-secrets look, but the I-am-so-confused look. She also seemed to be glancing back in forth between Snowbank and Fennec, and did not once stare at anyone else weirdly.
Parasite flicked his tail and turned back to his dragons, where Existence was sitting right in front of him. "Ahh!" He jumped, wings outstretched.
"Calm down it's only me," Existence smiled, she then lay down in front of his dragons, "I want you to tell me a story with those." She pointed at the toy dragons.
"Story?" Seaweed's head suddenly popped up, in a flash he bolted right next to Existence. He heard Ravine let out a snort somewhere behind him.
"I wanna hear one too!" Said BatEcho bouncing to Existence's other side and settling down. Soon the dragonets were crowded around him, even Tsunami was sitting close by, looking expectantly at him.
"With these?" He asked, confused, holding up a Nightwing toy dragon.
"It will be like watching a mini movie." Existence said, smiling wider.
"Uh...." he started, stumbling over words in his mind. What should he start with? He wasn't exactly the most creative dragon here. That probably went to Ravine, even though the Skywing was a little grumpy. All skywings seemed to be like that.
"I'll tell a story." Tsunami said, appearing beside him. Parasite gladly joined the other dragonets, bouncing around and squishing in between LeafFall and Snowbank. The icewing twined her tail around his while the leafwing flinched.
"There once were three friends," Tsunami started briefly pausing as a loud burst of thunder cracked, as if the storm was reminding the dragons it was still there, the seawing then picked up 3 toy dragons a seawing, and then a icewing and sandwing. Parasite tried to convince himself it was a coincidence.
"They valued their friendship like good dragons value peace. Everywhere they looked life seemed to get better. Every cave they stepped in seemed to get brighter. Soon every dragon knew their names. Every dragon for miles came to see them. All except one sinister rainwing, who instead of peace and friendship valued evil. He sought to find a way to drive apart the three friends" Throughout the story Tsunami used the dragon figures to resemble the dragon in the story. As the night wore on, Parasite's wings started sagging and his eyelids started drooping, luckily Tsunami was at the end of the story.
"And all the dragon shouted their names so loud that they could be heard all across Phyrria. The end." The blue dragon set down the figures.
"Wait wait!" Exclaimed BatEcho jumping up, "What where their names?"
Tsunami smiled and tipped her head thoughtfully, "Their names were," she paused and she frowned for a split second but then her smile once again spread across her face, "Tidepool, savannah, and snowdrop." At the very last moment, Parasite heard a little something, a little something that Tsunami whispered after, something that made no sense at all.
"Tsunami, Sunny, and Winter."
What was going on that differed so greatly from what Sunny seemed to know?
